My God this is a great restaurant. Yves and Mary are tremendous. I have been eating at this rustic French restaurant for 5 years and they never disappoint. They have a concentrated menu of 4-5 entrees and delicious sides and desserts. The boeuf bourguignon is to die for! Also, they have a fabulous selection of Bordeaux at affordable prices. No big wine mark-up here. The service is impeccable too. Mary is a great hostess and the young people they employ to serve are very well trained. A truly great dining experience. We are so lucky to have them in this area. I hope Yves is on the mend and that they will return to CNY soon.
Review Source:Second time around was equal to the first, but in different ways!
We loved this little place so much that we came back. Â The wife of the owner/waitress remembered us and welcomed us like we were regulars - despite this only being our second time. This time it was just the two of us. We both hoped the Wild Boar special was on the menu again, but alas, it wasn't. Instead we had Filet Mignon with Peppercorn sauce, and a half duck with black currant glaze. The filet was so incredibly tender and the sauce was a perfect blend. The duck was crispy and tender and the glaze was fantastically magical. I must have said, aloud, a good three or four times how much I love this place. The dessert (see photos of food I posted) was a white-chocolate mousse with cognac and almonds, garnished with a (cranberry/raspberry?) chutney and served under a caramel cage (again, see photo). The presentation was magnificent and other diners had to turn and look. Took a bit and was in heaven.
There's so much more I could say here, but I really would recommend you finding out for yourself how wonderful this place is.
It was cozy enough and high class enough that at the end of the meal, in the foyer, my now fiance proposed!
A perfect night!
This place is incredible. After touring in the Loire Valley, and the next year in Brittany and Normandy, the food was actually better here - right in CNY! It's worth every sou! My kudos to the owner/chef! The ingredients are seasonal, and the presentation is excellent. Duck confit was a WOW! Terrior cuisine at its best, and certainly worth the trip.
Review Source:Owner/chef Yves Zenon and his co-owner/hostess wife Mary have a tiny jewel of a restaurant - a real beacon for fine dining lovers. Â This is our great events place - for anniversaries, birthdays, celebratory times with special friends - and we're more than willing to do the hour-long drive to get there. Â The food is superb -- Yves especially knows his fish and vegetables -- and the 3 small dining rooms on the ground floor of the pink historic house remind us of classic French restaurants. Â Fellow diners - many of them long-time customers - clearly appreciate wonderful food, beautifully presented.
Review Source:This place is fantastic, and is well worth a drive. My college girlfriend and I went here several times while at Colgate, and had a great time every time.
The food was incredible, but the real kicker is that the presentation was astronomically good by any standard let alone Central New York standards.
I recall that I once got a salmon bisque. It came as a shallow pour of bisque surrounding a lighly breaded salmon steak shaped like a fish. For dessert I got simple vanilla ice cream that was served under a fine netted dome of frozen caramel. It was spectacular.
If I ever head back to CNY, I'm definitely planning a stop at La Petite Maison. It's one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, geography be damned. Although - who am I kidding? - I'll never go back to CNY.
