Ummm. Two stars max (and I may have been a little generous because I am listening to an excellent song right now).
Salsa and guac were the consistency of squeeze cake icing.
Chips were odd, more corn meal than corn flour. They were warm but chewy, not crispy.
Services was lagging (but the place wasn't busy).
My guess is that this is the only Mexican joint around.
Don't be fooled by the authentic on the label, this is just a repackaged Taco Bell.
Very good! Â Got Chicken Chimi - the shell was fried perfectly, and the beans and rice were very good. Chips were only fair, not great, salsa was pretty good.
I would though highly suggest that the shredded chicken be MUCH more flavorful. It was quite bland, almost like boiled chicken - PLEASE FLAVOR YOUR SHREDDED CHICKEN!!
Good place though!
We first discovered LaQuetzalteca when it was a little "hole in the wall" place at the corner of Rts 9 and 30. Â Their food was fresh and authentic with the "homemade" touch, especially the small soft tacos and tamales. Â Now that they have several locations, however, their food quality and service have deteriorated. Â They have gone mainstream and there is now nothing to differentiate them from LaTonalteca. Â Gone are the little tacos; you can't even special order them. Â Very generic and tourist-friendly -- the usual fare with cheese and lettuce slopped over everything to mask the canned ingredients. Â Cecilia and her husband (the owners) need to pay closer attention to their restaurants. Â In their absence the staff really slacks off. Â They are so busy socializing with each other and the new locations are so large inside that it takes a long time to hunt them down if you need something. Â I will only go here again if I am desperate for Mexican food.
Review Source:I went there for dinner with my BF. The salsa was spicy and very tasty. The chips came out warm, which was a nice touch. I ordered  chicken fajitas and my BF ordered t-bone steak. My chicken fajitas was a little disappointing. The chicken was very dry while the peppers were soft like butter. The beans were very good. Steak was just ok. Our server was nice. The place was pretty empty. The floor was sticky. I will probably not go back again.
Review Source:La Quetzalteca was very good when I went there with several friends. Â The service was fast, the food was hot and of a good quality, and the environment was very welcoming. Â The place was not overly crowded, but the few patrons that were there at the time were all spread out to keep everyone fairly private.
The nachos are a very good way to start, so be sure to start with that (I prefer them with beef, but there is also an option for chicken if you're so inclined!).
Probably the best Mexican food I've found in lower Delaware, and I think I've tried them all. If your were blindfolded, it would be difficult to tell one of the area's Mexican restaurants from another, but this place is a notch above. I've eaten there a half dozen times, and it's very consistent. The service is good and the wait staff is fluent in both English and Spanish, making the whole ordering thing much easier. Very pleased with this place..
Review Source:This us our second stop here -- once on the way down and now again on the way up. Â It's basic, albeit a bit bland, gringo-Mexican food. Â In the right place at the right time.
Both times we ordered from the ala carte menu and skipped the piles of rice and beans. Â I can recommend the soft chicken tacos and guacamole. Â Not so much the chicken enchilada and tamale which are far too bland with a red sauce that is tastes like thin Italian marinara sauce.
Went there for lunch with a group of people. Restaurant is located off of 113 in a middle of strip mall, can't miss it with its bright color outside paint. Â The inside was nicely decorated and the staff was very nice.
We got seated quickly and our server was very friendly with a great sense of humor.
Chips and salsa were decent, i had the carnitas that were not on the lunch menu, they were a little greasy and lacked flavor but nothing a little dip in salsa couldn't fix.
Their lunch menu is pretty extensive though and everyone else seemed happy with the meals they got.
