We caught a "dinner and a movie" special at the Landis (dinner was at Mori's, attached) and it was great!

I suggest that if you do this yourself (they offer one every month, I believe), that you give yourself a good two (plus) hours at Mori's, before the movie starts. That place gets PACKED on movie night.

Also, give Mori's a call and make sure you have a table reserved for the night -- explain that you purchased your dinner/movie ticket through the theater (you can get the tickets mailed to you, just call the theater) -- and let Mori's know what time you want to have dinner. This way, you'll be sure to have a table.  We didn't and got stuck eating at the bar. Not horrible seating, but a table would have been more comfortable.

The theater itself is really nice, ushers are very kind, and seating is comfortable.

Looking forward to going back when they have shows geared to "my generation" (hint, hint). Something for people in their 30's guys?  ;-)

I was excited when I read that Karl Perazzo and Raul Rekow were going to play the Landis.  For $5 I would not only hear a good concert, but I would be able to check out the newly renovated theater.

    The show was great!

I arrived in the area after the Landis closed.  It sat as an eyesore for years.  It is now an attractive theater.  It opened in June, I believe.  The acts and the prices have been enough to keep me away.

Tonight was inexpensive.  We purchased a ticket at the door, not at the ticket booth of the art deco structure.  Then we went into the lobby.  We walked in at 6:58, two minutes to show time.  There were about 100 people I gather crammed into the lobby.  The doors to the theater were closed.  There we stood for the next 30+ minutes.

If there was air conditioning, it did not keep up.  Everyone was fanning himself.  There was no explanation as to why the doors did not open on time.  A hot, sweaty group is not pleasant company.  I saw people leave the theater.  Whether they returned, I do not know.  I was within the last five minutes of waiting with a three-year old before asking for a return of my money.

Eventually the doors opened and we took our seats.  It was general admission and with less than half the theater's seats taken, we gleaned good seats.

It was another 15 minutes before music began playing.  What now 45 minutes off the start time, my three-year old wasn't bound to last the evening, and he didn't.

The theater has comfortable seats.  I believe it holds 750 people.  The stripes along the wall look to be out of a South Florida building from the 1980s.  It is not modern at all and lends to a cheesy feel for the the theatergoers.

I don't think the theater handled the delay well at all. One would also think a theater announcer would welcome the audience to the "historic theater" and let them know they appreciate their patronage.  It would go a long way to healing the taxpayer blues that funded this building.

I hope their are more inexpensive events here and that they begin on time.
