Old Oar House Irish Pub

well lets see....if you have ever been to ireland and visited a real irish pub the oar house, like many other bars  in nj that claim they are a irish pub, don't even come close......i do have some good points and bad....lets start with the bad...i have eaten at the oar house 4x's...once for lunch and 3x's for dinner...lunch was ok, but the dinners were below average...would i eat here again..NO...don't look for real irish food,you are not going to find it here...typical s.jrz food...the place was nice a few years ago when it was renovated, but it really getting run down...Dirty....the mens toilet was dirty and some grafiti....now on a better note, they have a great selection of american micro brews...the wait staff is friendly and quick and cute (young and skimpy clothing....i guess makes up for the food!!) average beer garden but seen nicer. it looks like it was slapped together....they never charge a cover for the music but if your looking for irish music, its not here...typical s. jrz rock...but again this is my opinion so try it yourself you may find it for you

I used to like this place. It was one of the better bars in town. They used to have black and white photos of cool musicians on the walls. I think they've been replaced with Thomas Kincade prints. That's a bad sign.  It's become less artsy, more jocky. The music is all the same cover bands every week, the food is overpriced and they have a horrible beer selection.  The owner thinks he can get by by hiring busty blonde waitstaff. He's a real perv and a cokehead.

But the major reason for this review is because the owner and his buddy beat up my boyfriend. Apparently he flipped a table and broke a glass, yet they continued taking his money for beer before that knowing he was obviously passed his limit. Either way, you don't beat up your customers, you call the cops or you just ban them forever. After flipping the table he left and they chased him down the street. The one guy had him by the neck up against another storefront window and the owner was yelling insults in my face (completely disrespectful towards women in general) as I was on the phone to the police. I was pregnant at the time and only went to the bar to find my boyfriend. I was outside when he flipped the table and I watched them chase him down. My boyfriend didn't press charges and he ended up on crutches for a week. He also missed a couple days of work.  He is a small skinny guy and the guy that had him by the neck was twice his size.  I know he can be an ass but that's completely unprofessional. I mean this isn't a bar in the middle of the ghetto. They are a bunch of wanna be mafiosos.

Excellent beer selection and the food is alright.  5 stars on the beers a 3 on the food
