It was a Sunday night - not exactly a happening time in Grand Lake. Â My husband "T" and I had already been to another bar (Grumpy's) and to the local microbrewery/pizza joint, and I just wanted to go back to our hotel and pick up where I'd left off in my latest road-trip book. Â T, ever the social butterfly, dragged me into the Lariat for "one last drink." Â It ended up being the best place we visited in all of Grand Lake! Â There was a live band in the back, composed of two older men singing Neil Young and other similar songs. Â The music was nice - not too loud to get in the way of conversation but still plenty audible, the songs familiar enough to sing along to if you were so inclined, the musicians very friendly. Â The bartender and other patrons were also extremely friendly. Â The bar was filled with all sorts of tacky western-themed paraphernalia and things on the wall such as a toilet seat cover with a sign saying to open for a view of the biggest jackass in the west (inside was a mirror). Â T and I spent a couple hours enjoying a few gin and tonics - our go-to summer drink - and left the Lariat more content than when we entered.
