The bar was full except for one stool with a few open tables in the rear. I took a small table and waited for someone to offer me a menu, take my drink order and deliver setups to the table. Still waiting...

Found a http://restaurant.com coupon so decided to go check it out with a friend. Walked into a basically empty bar. The staff was overall quite nice but the whole place was dusty. I started with a Smithwicks draft which first came out warm and flat and then came out cold and flat. Not the greatest start.
We then ordered a chicken sandwich (with side salad), spring rolls, spin dip, and pizza logs.
The chicken sandwich was pretty good but it all went downhill from there. The spinach dip was tasteless and the pita was burnt and stale - not worth the 9 dollars by a long shot. My friend's salad came with slimy, completely rotten cucumbers on top of wilted brown lettuce. The spring rolls and pizza logs were perfectly fine but how much credit can be given to throwing frozen food in a frier.
Overall not a great dinner experience. Wouldnt mind going there for some drinks to watch a game but stick to the bottled craft beers since the drafts seemed off.
Might as well just stay away...

My husband and I stopped by here on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy, but it was busy because they were hosting an Amherst High School class reunion. My husband mingled and I ponied up to the bar. I'm not a beer drinker, so I asked about their wine list. I got a very blank stare from the waitress. I asked if they had Shiraz; Pino Noir; Petit Syrah; Merlot, etc. She pulled out 2 bottles and said "we have this". She poured me a $7 glass of Pino Noir (out of a bottle that retails for approximately $5). Needless to say- I only had 1 glass.

As the night progressed we got hungry and asked to see the bar menu. It looked good enough. Husband ordered wings and I ordered the chicked sandwich with a side salad. Salad was good. Chicken snadwich was so peppery I had to scrape the pepper off. Then I had to trim the chicken- kinda gross. It came with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Well, someone forgot to peel the onions because I had sauteed onion skin on my sandwich. My husband's wings were dry, not saucy (because we later discovered you have to ask for saucy wings) and he got a side of ranch instead of blue cheese. RANCH DRESSING WITH WINGS IN BUFFALO??!! I know, WTF. Well, apparently you need to ask for blue cheese too.

We ate at the bar without napkins because all they had were cocktail napkins- everyone that ate used them and we had to ask for flatware. The bartender was very sweet, but totally clueless. The guy next to us ordered a vodka tonic and the bartender didn't put ice in it. When he asked for ice, she gave him a glass filled with ice. Really??

If you're coming here for a few beers and nothing else you'll probable enjoy it. If you're looking for a relaxing evening at a bar with some drinks and munchies- this is a no go. Save your money and go to your local corner gin mill. Better prices, food and service.

Stopped in randomly on a Wednesday night after exchanging an old http://restaurant.com certificate. Divey and relaxed vibe.

We sat ourselves in the back of the bar among the numerous musicians there for an open mic night. They weren't too friendly, but our waitress was. she handed us 2 menus - one for the restaurant we were in, and one for Iris next door - apparently they share a kitchen. This was a little odd seeing as Iris has a more upscale vibe than the bar with a few beat up tables we were in - I wouldn't want to pay Iris prices without getting the Iris atmosphere & service.

My companion ordered the Pancho Villa wrap, and we split orders of the chicken fingers and stuffed peppers. The peppers were okay, the fingers were very good, and the wrap was "spicy and good." He said he would order it again if we ever came back.

3 stars if based solely on the food, but I have it at 4 stars for the vibe... which was likely due in part to the music made by the musicians who happen to show up- but nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves. Good beer list, a decent but not great menu, and good service.

I went solo on a quiet Monday. Just plopped my butt on the bar and started ordering my favourite food and beer. The people were playing video trivia and laughing and having great time. I mostly watched the basketball game on the large tv and enjoyed the beer alot. My tasty dark craft selection was the Great Lakes Edmond Fitzgerald yummy. Appetizers - ordered 3 - and I was so stuffed afterwards I rolled myself out of the restaurant I was sooooo full. Excellent chef made wonderful spicy dishes. So important that food has flavour and believe me the pork quesadilla had a hot kick to it (i requested spicy) and the meat stuffed banana peppers were very spicy. Beer goes so well with this type of food. The shrimp shooter was huge - I mean huge!

The Library is located in the AMC plaza that almost seemed like the owner's afterthought. The same owners have a restaurant and an event space next to the bar that one of the bartenders gave me a nice tour with. It's a rather long, but small bar space. They really tried to give Amherst/UBers a place to go for a craft beer. (Then McGregor's open not 1 minute away...) They have 20 beers on tap and 30 selections of bottled beer.
We went out on a Saturday night, and I was shocked how pretty empty it was. It is basically at the exit of the UB campus! Offering a nice selection from breweries near/around Buffalo(Great Lakes, Saranac, Southern Tier, Ithaca), but also some dated seasonals, as no winter beers were offered. The back of the bar had a library facade, hence the name.
It's a rather nice bar, and I'm sure I'd go back, my Saranac carmel porter was absolutely delicious. However, it didn't seem all that inviting, not a lot was going on.
