This is a good place to see a show. The sound is usually very good here, as they do not have as many reflections as in an indoor venue. You have a good hike from the parking lot to get in, that is a small minus. Plenty of food and drink vendors once you get inside. I always look forward to shows here.
Review Source:This is my favorite "large" venue in the area. I have been in all the seats and in the pit and the view is great from everywhere. I have thus far avoided the lawn, so I can't comment on that. However, the seat views are great. The pit is a decent size and you can easily avoid the possible moshing if you want to. The acoustics are fantastic. There are two large video screens on the side that allow you to see your band up close and keep you entertained during the intermissions. I also love that most of the seats are covered in the event of rain. Then again, you will get soaked (and quite muddy) getting to your seats.
There is also a possibility for other stages, rides, food trucks and other events to accompany the ampitheatre since it is at the fairgrounds (like the recent Funshine Festival ).
The only thing I dislike about the Amp is the food and alcohol selection and prices. Then again I can say the same about almost every stadium/ event venue. I normally end up buying one of the margarita/daiquiri yards since they are the best tasting option for alcohol. I have yet to find any food items that are even somewhat tasty. I normally settle for the chicken fingers and fries.
As for the name change: It made me very happy. I hope Live Nation continues to pay for the title. It sounds WAY better than 1-800-Ask-Gary-Ampitheatre (which I always thought made Tampa sound trashy). I will continue to get excited when it is announced that my favorite bands are playing here.
