Me and a few friends were biking from Hyannis to P-town over a weekend. Day 2 we stayed in Eastham and found Local Break because it was listed as Vegetarian and had some decent beer choices.
Overall Local Break was pretty solid. Our waiter was great, greeting us "I bet this is the most fun you've had on a Saturday night, right?" and generally had some good jokes.
The beer selection was good (too many stouts, it's summer and I have been sweating all day!) and the food was pretty solid. I had a veggie burger and fries, the price was right, it was tasty and came with beet chips on top... nicely done on the beet chips. The bun was buttery, seemed home-made and more noteable than the patty. Meat eating friends had the house burger, which they seemed to like. I feel like it had bacon infused mayo or something? If I were a meat-eater I am sure that would have gotten me all hot and bothered.
If you're on the cape and aren't going for Lobster or Fried Clams, give this place a shot.
After hearing great things about the Local Break over the past couple months I finally had the chance to go check this place out for myself. Â My first thought when walking in was "Wow what a transformation!" Â The decor is ambiance is both inviting and makes you want to stay and hang out with your friends. Â My hubby and I sat at wooden high top booth with another couple. Â The booth was quite comfortable. Â
So their drink selection seemed large enough to make most people happy. Â And they even had a list of signature cocktails which I always like seeing. Â We ordered food, we started with chicken wings which I was told were "the best!" Â Yes, they were good but not great. Â Their chowder if very good and has real little necks in it-shell and all. Â I kept it simple and ordered a burger which was very good. Â It was juicy and had lots of lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions to dress it up with. Â My hubby ordered the ribeye which was very nicely displayed and cooked perfectly. Â His only complaint was that it was surprisingly spicy, we should have known this in advance. Â But he did enjoy every bite. The other couple enjoyed their flatiron steak, and philly cheese steak. Â
I was very pleased with the friendly service and especially happy with how quickly the food came out of the kitchen on a Friday evening. Â
Im looking forward to returning.
I'll give them a "break" with three stars... This really is a bar attempting upscale bar food (not inexpensive)... Menu is VERY limited.
Overall, just okay. I had the shrimp po'boy and for $13 expected more. The menu described the sandwich with "baby greens and tomato" which turned out to be a piece of lettuce and no tomato. My friend had the steak and cheese and she liked it and said it  was worthy of the extra gym workout the next day. Hubby had the burger and it was just "A-okay."
French fries are the coated (probably frozen) type, which I dislike and never worthy of the calories. Going the extra mile and making homemade fries would help make this spot standout.
The server was more interested in high-fiving his friends at a neighboring table than remember our order correctly. Totally forgot the apps. so can't comment about the wings or hot dogs.
If in the mood for a beer (good selection of local breweries) and a sandwich and in the area, might try it again. Not rushing back.
First time for me tonight, and I was thrilled. One of the best tuna tartars on the Cape. It's a glorified sports bar with a very different and great menu. We are Orleans, next town over, and we have found a new spot. Can't wait to try the sweet potato grits with goat cheese. Don't be alarmed when you see the exterior, the chow is awesome.
Review Source:Sooooo good! Everything was delicious and served in a timely manner. The waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable about their food. I had a cheeseburger with Amish macaroni, which was soooo delicious I ate it immediately. They had a nice selection of local beers. Try their black raspberry mojito, it's amazing! The fruit tart for dessert was tangy and sweet and light.
Review Source:Poor seating in here there are  5 tables a couple of booths or sit on a barstool!
So loud we couldn't  talk at the table. Very limited menu seems to be a bar and sandwich shop. Extra star for offering WIFI . Stay with the sandwiches everyone seem to say they were good I had a rib special that was edible but disappointing.
Pretty good food, but don't take kids here. We arrived at 5:15 when, the place was nearly empty, with 3 kids in tow. We ended up waiting for over an hour for anything to be served to the kids, much less ourselves. Many parties that came in later were served before us, with no explanation from the staff. Â In fact, the only response from the manager when we asked about the delay was to ask us angrily why we were giving his staff a hard time. Â Most restaurants with a kids' menu are pretty good at getting the kids' orders in and out quickly. Â I would cut Local Break a break for being relatively new, but the rudeness of the manager and lack of apologies from anyone on the staff were pretty infuriating.
Review Source:As much as I love the Cape, you gotta admit that not much changes 'round those parts. You've got your Arnolds, you've got your Beachcomber (the best), you've got your Sir Cricket's. You have all the fried fish you need.
Sometimes, your need isn't that great. Sometimes you want a real meal with a real feel that doesn't scream "tourist!" Local Break is your place.
Located in the same area as Nauset Ice Cream, a liquor store, and a random Thai place, Local Break is a bit hidden from Route 6, but I like it that way. Service was friendly and accommodating. All Cape Cod drafts are unique and fairly priced at $4.50, and you can taste as many as you'd like. Decor is casual and rustic, with roomy booths and checkered table cloths alongside high tops and bar seating.
The food was awesome. The classic cheese burger was the first burger I've ordered from a restaurant in a year in a half. More medium-well than the medium I ordered, but still juicy and flavorful. The pickles are homemade! Chicken wings in red garlic sauce were insanely tender. Get them. Mexican street corn was messy and delicious.
Local Break just opened two months ago and the place was decently busy. I'm sure next summer it'll be swarmed.
so good...my new favorite casual spot. Â simple, delicious, thoughtfully prepared food. Â the burger, po boy and cheesesteak sandwiches are perfection as are the fries. Â i haven't tried any entrees yet because i can't seem to stop craving the three previously mentioned items!
you can tell the owners put some real effort into this place...the walls are plastered with hopsacks and they have some very cool surf-inspired photography. Â the service is great, the servers are friendly and it's just an all round good neighborhood vibe.
i'm already a regular :)
This place has the type of menu where you want to try EVERYTHING. There are many things you will recognize but all have a little twist. Â It keeps it interesting but not weird. Â Opening night was amazing and though the wait for food got long (you'd have to be an idiot to expect anything else on an opening night) everything was worth the wait. The pork wantons were so flavorful, the wings had just the right amount of sweet with the heat, the gazpacho reminded me of Seville, and the po'boy was super tasty- the sauce on it was great!!!! Â I tried a handful of drinks on the menu, my favorites being Pop Pops Iced Tea and Thoms cucumber Collins. Â Fabulous atmosphere and fun easygoing staff. Â Best night out in a while. Â Can't wait to go again!!!
