Such a weird place. I want to be a regular. Love the interior. It is one of the few places in Lodi I can go and sit at the bar, have a  meal and a beer and watch a game. But every time I go something happens to piss me off.
My problem is not with the food or drink. The beers I have had are good. Love the burgers. Ribs and salads not bad. I have had several negative experiences with the staff and the way things are managed.
Bartenders seem to go out of their way to not talk to you. Not rude, if you can get their attention they are friendly enough but just not how a bartender should be.
Asked the guy that pours the beer to change the channel on one of the tv's as both had the same thing on. He would not do it and gave me some silly reason which I can not remember.
The last couple times I have been in there I have not been given enough change back. Only .10 or .15 cents no biggie, but thats not the point. When I asked about this I was told the owner/manager does not give them dimes, nickels or pennies. What? That just reeks of not only laziness but dishonesty as well. How dare you presume that I do not want my correct amount of change. Also why not give a little more change instead of shorting your customers. Leaves a really bad taste in my mouth to go along with a previous incident which I was up charged for getting garlic fries but was not told there would be an addl charge. I mentioned to the bartender when I was paying my bill. Her reaction was to be very rude and condescending. I did not come back for several months but had made a few trips in recently. After having to ask for my correct change and finding out the owner has no interest in making sure I get it, I doubt I will be back anytime soon. Too bad.
Here's the deal: the beer is very good, completely made on the premises in tanks you see smack dab in the middle of the place. Try the porter and the ale. The food is completely uninspired and mediocre. In fact, I was a beer club member here since its opening but gave it up a while ago because I got tired of the poor food. If they would just hire a real chef and serve fresh, interesting meals, I'd go back.
Review Source:Can't really go wrong with any dish you get here! Their fish and chips are excellent, as well as their bbq chicken salad and I can not forget the pulled pork sandwich! They have excellent appetizers and great service, and obviously beer, although i have not had it considering I am under age haha but I hear great things.
Review Source:So far so good. Calamari tasty and beer flowing. Excellent service, speedy, accurate, friendly. Could not believe how fast stuff came out to the table. Mahi mahi was tender and shrimp cooked to perfection. Beers were out of this world good and just the right temp. First time here but won't be the last. Thanks for making our anniversary special.
Review Source:High marks for beer and atmosphere, low marks for service and food quality.
Nothing in Lodi rivals the distinct polished, industrial style of LBC. Shiny curls of wrought-iron complement deep, glossy woods highlighting centrally placed copper tankards. One feels a sense of the long-established history of an old-time tradition. Despite this fabrication (they opened about a decade ago), I am simply in love with vintage ambiance and open architecture.
I have not sampled most of their beer but I do make a point to order a beer each visit. After all, that is their thing. I have ordered their Hefewiezen several times and quite enjoy its light, clovey flavor. So drinkable and pleasant, even my Grandma orders it when we come! I have also tried their porter and though it doesn't stick in my mind as well as the Hef, the chocolately richness was spot on.
On to the downsides. The food is entirely mediocre. The best dish I can recall is the Fish Taco plate which can only be described as three soggy fish fillets on soggy tortillas for $10. Served with sour cream AND guacamole. Thanks, but I don't count those as sides. Tarragon Chicken was dry, bland, and a laughably small portion for $15. Deep-fried macaroni was just gross.
Lastly, service here has been uninspired, at best. The servers are unresponsive and don't seem interested in the satisfaction of customers. Water glasses sat empty, and, despite the emptiness of the restaurant and the presence of sufficient staff, our server seemed to always be missing.
Come for the beer, not the food. While I appreciate LBC's efforts to provide an alternative dining experience, I think, much needed in Lodi, their execution on the restaurant end needs considerable improvement.
We have been here 5-7 times both with friends and family. Each and EVERYTIME we have truly enjoy our meal along with the waitstaff. Many items to pick from on the menu are very good. You get nice portions and they will make special reuqests if possible. I also want to say we come here with our small grandchildren and they are very accomidating to small ones.... maybe they just want to get us in and out LOL...no matter we always have a good time and don't feel rushed. We will return many times in the future! Oh my hubby said to let you know the beers are very taste and he trys different ones each time! If you are looking for a good meal and good drinks this is a great place to visit!
Thank you!
Recently we celebrated my husband's birthday here with a party of 10. Â The service was definitely lacking and our waitress was next to terrible.
I ordered the Bleu Steak, medium well - it came out rare. I sent it back and asked the waitress to have the cook butterfly it. Â Instead, it looked like they threw it in a salamander or something - it came back not butterflied, but thoroughly cooked the 2nd time, except now the bleu cheese on top was now burnt to a crisp. Bleh. Â Another person also ordered the same steak, well done, and his also came out medium rare. He suffered thru it.
Two people in our party had their orders mixed up.  One Rib Eye with baked potato, and one New York with mashed potatoes. Instead of the waitress taking the plates back to the kitchen to be corrected, she  brought out side plates and asked us to swap food with each other.  Not nice.  Another person's baked potato was raw and cold inside. They brought out a new one.
Someone ordered hot tea, and after asking for more hot water, the waitress brings a tiny little teapot with a half a cup of warm water in it. Ughhh...
I was not happy with the fact that we automatically had to include 18% gratuity because it was definitely NOT earned.
We spoke to the manager and she gave us gift cards as a way to make up, but honestly, I'll probably never return again to use it. Â
$250 for dinner, and it was terrible.
I like my ribs and burgers SLATHERED in BBQ... hopefully next time I visit I'll conjure up the courage to ask for BBQ sauce. Â Onion rings, however, were delicious... as well as the cole slaw.
Asked elementary questions about their fermentor in the dining hall, server didn't know how to answer my question.... uhmm...
We come weekly to grab a beer with some friends & mostly sit at the pub tables in the bar. We love the IPA! Waitresses & Bartenders are super friendly & helpful.
Food: They have AMAZING burgers! Appear to be real hand patted out burgers! The bleu burger is delicious and not to strong of a bleu cheese. Paired with an IPA and some Sweet Potato fries, pure heaven! :)
I also STRONGLY recommend the fish tacos. Delicious!!! and The Pizza's are always awesome! :)
With their amazing location you'd think they would want to try a little harder. The food here is just not good. I have never once in countless visits left Lodi Beer Company satisfied with my meal. I vowed to not return, but attended a post funeral luncheon here last week-
Come to find out we were forced to push tables together in the middle of the restaurant because we confirmed our reservation after another group, even though we had been told that there were no other parties scheduled that day and we were able to use their banquet room.
We ordered a Sampler Platter. My cousin bit into a piece of raw chicken tender. Unbelievable. When we pointed it out to ther server, she said, "Oh sorry, don't eat that." Really? Did not even have to decency to replace or comp the appetizer.
I ordered the French Dip, it was just okay. Surprisingly the best food I've had there.
I'm not returning. Not even for a beer during the weekly summer Farmer's Market. They've become too big for their britches and all they have is the over 40 crowd drinking in their "beer garden" because it appears to be the cool thing to do.
Kinda over the Downtown Lodi scene, we're seeing a pattern of the same behavior at most restaurants. Glad King Tsin was forced to leave, so they won't get a bad rep.
I had a bad experience at this place during Wine and Chocolate weekend. Â My credit card was taken away from the table, returned by a different person and shortly after, charges I did not authorized bought someone an i-phone, prepaid card and shuffle.
The manager of the restaurant was defensive, to say the least.
So I am writing this to tell all customers: Do not let your card leave your sight, the food-beer is not so good and if there is someone dishonest in the place, he/she is good at it.
My husband and I came to eat here and have a drink or two after seeing a movie in Downtown Lodi. The beers were on point! I had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, and my husband had the Cajun Burger. They were to die for! We both prefer having beer at a local brewery like this over the canned/bottled stuff any day! It's such a family-friendly atmosphere. Very warm and inviting staff. We are actually looking forward to another date night, so we can hit up Lodi Beer Company again.
Review Source:Lodi Beer Co has been a nice addition to Lodi.
The interior atmosphere is great. The patio is a nice place to stop for a drink on warm summer evenings.
The food can be hit or miss. My favorite is the salmon and spinach salad. The salmon is always moist and flavorful. The fried mac & cheese is always popular. But it's never consistent. I've had it cooked perfectly and sometimes it's dry and tasteless.
The beer is the real draw. I haven't had a bad draft yet. The tart cherry wheat is my favorite. The beer flight is a great way to sample all their brews.
I had the french dip and my wife the fish and chips with fries.
French dip was good but dipping sauce like packaged stuff. Onion rings great.
Fish and chips were cold and were just like the frozen crap my mother used to .get. HORRIBLE. Fries were tasteless and cold.
Now for the beer. It was  great.
Place was really packed.
Too bad the food couldn't be better.
Neat old building.
We are always optimistic but we are almost always disappointed. Â Tonight was no different. Â We stopped in for an early dinner (6:00) and seated ourselves in the bar.
Our waiter was nice but to be honest, the vibe of the place is just "off".
I have ordered the same dish a dozen times and I swear to you that each time it is different! Â There is NO consistency of their food. Â NONE. Â I have had dinner and drinks there more times than I can count and I always feel slighted,
Not only is the food totally inconsistent but the beer is too. My feeling... they're a brewery, that should not be the case.
The IPA is sometimes bubbly, sometimes not. Â The steak pesto wrap is almost always good. Â The service is always mediocre-poor.
Fried mac n' cheese bite appetizers were ok, would not get again.
Salmon spinach salad was great, salmon was hot, lots of fresh spinach.
Umna Hefeweizen was ok, a little too citrusy. Tried my friend's Gilt Edge Marzen and it was much better, I'll get that next time.
After a movie that let out around 6 pm on a Saturday night, this place was packed.
Overall I liked the atmosphere a lot, great for having a lot of friends who want to have a casual dinner and some beers. Â Very loud inside, but it was very crowded so that was to be expected.
The best thing about this place is the patio, if you can find some room on it.
The beer is ok, the food is nothing special and over priced.
Downtown Lodi is very cute though, and there aren't a lot of choices for sit down dining so you go where you can. My most recent visit was to take my parents to dinner and have a couple of drinks with a friend.
Inside is very noisy, so don't come expecting to have a quiet dinner most nights, and don't bring anyone that is at all hard of hearing.
I only come here for the beer and desserts. Â Trust me.

This is the fifth stop on the tour of restaurants I've visited to remember the loss of my Father who was an avid Yelper, please check out R.L.'s reviews to help me remember him (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=K5FrmVM70cJDbMiZ9ywMag">http://www.yelp.com/user…</a>)
I've been to Lodi Beer Company over a dozen times, in fact my family and I came here twice this trip. Â Like I said before; I only come here for the beer and desserts. Â Trust me. Â I've tried the entrees a few times in the past and I've learned my lesson. Â Now we have dinner elsewhere and come here for dessert and after dinner drinks, this seems to work out. Â I may try coming here for a meal again, but it would take a lot of convincing.
I love the Marzen beer, and the chocolate brownie sundae is gigantically delicious. Â
(This rating is for the beer and desserts only)
Ive lived in lodi my entire life and had never been to the Lodi Beer Co until recently. I ordered the fish tacos and they were the worst fish tacos ive ever had. They tasted weird & soggy & they were so messy everything just came out. The prices are pretty decent but i dont think ill ever eat there again.
Review Source:Came here for lunch with my parents while walking through Lodi. Â We got the garlic fries and the Mediterranean chicken pizza to share. Â Fries were good but not great, and the pizza had great crust but mediocre toppings. Â Service was also mediocre - I made it through my pizza and didn't receive the red pepper flakes I requested (standard with pizza) until I was done and full. Â
Ambiance is great - the brewery is exposed and the attention to detail is awesome in the decor. Â Just wish they would put as much attention into their service as they do their atmosphere.
Only reason to come here is for the beer unless you like paying for lackluster service. Â Been here a few times hoping that the service would be better each time but unfortunately it falls flat and disappoints. Â
Most people won't care about the service but that is why they still eat at chilisapplebeestexasroadhouse.
Three words - 5 NAPKIN BURGER !!
Been coming here a couple years now. Â It just keeps getting better. Â They have a cherry beer that's really good. Â So many to choose, just do the sampler. Â It's great... they give you a flight of 8 beers to taste, and it's fun. Â The food is good & portions large. Â French dip is a favorite, and the cattleman salad is dynomite. Â Service is good even when busy. Â Sometimes smells funny because of the yeast brew, but hey, have a beer and ya won't care anymore! Â
BTW - post office lot across street is for post office only - you could be towed.
Oh boy is this good stuff.
Its important to know what to order at the place. Â So I'll help out:
ORDER THE BLEU BURGER.
hold on, the yelp spell-check thinks I keep misspelling bleu. Â Fools! Â It's a moldy, funky French cheese, and boy does it smell...awesome! Â I could rave about how good the burger is, but I'll let it speak for itself when it enters your watering gob. Â It won't just speak, but sing with majesty and loveliness. Â
Wish I could help out with the extensive beer selection, but you'll have to wait 13 months for that when I'm 21. Â I know, it sucks. Â Sorry.
We went here for the BF's birthday. I called in for a reservation and our wait was approx 10 to 15 minutes or so...When we arrived I asked the hostess if it was okay that I bring a homemade cake. She was very kind and said sure. She even mentioned that they could hold it in the back if I wanted to do that...AWESOME!
The food was good! I ordered the fish (halibut) and chips. It was pretty tastly. The BF ordered a steak & potatoes -- he liked it. My most favorite dish was the sampler. It was goooood! Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. Although, one of the girls we were with ordered a dish that was cold :( Our server was happy to get a new one, though.
Customer service was wonderful. We were waited on by 2 waitresses and they were awesome!...very accomodating and super friendly. I highly recommend this place for a birthday or dinner party. I will come back!
Walking towards Lodi Beer Company notice that many people are dinning out on their front patio:
Me: "bet you a drink everyones gonna stare when we walk up and walk in this place"
V: "duh that's a given, plus you're hella black" lol
We walk by those dinning, we called it endless stares. Seated all the way towards the back ... hmmm "I like how they seat us away from hella people" haa... I'm not saying they're racist it's just funny how things can play out. Not my first visit here, and we started out mid afternoon meal with a sampler and an Eisbock. An appetizer an an entree since V wasn't too hungry. Their New Orleans Cajun burger is quite bomby, not something crazy that I'd rant and rave about and say is <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbomb.com&s=bb4f996415a9c2f21137e27cfb68f439a48cec2652b53e9b50dd7e766dbe177e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://bomb.com</a>. Â
Although I'm going to note our server didn't really check up on how things are doing too often and the place wasn't that busy...V "there goes some of her tip"
Food that I've had here so far has been decent, the beers are good at average prices. If you think they're bank then go buy yourself a 40 oz. Meh on service each time I've came here.
V: "Let's go to Garry's down the street for more drinks? Maybe they'll pay more attention to us.."
The food was average, so I'll give them 3 stars for the food and the beer, but the service (by the hostess) Â was awful.
3 of us walked into the 90% empty restaurant at 3pm and asked for a table for 10. The hostess asked me whether we had reservations and when I told her we didn't she told me that she would have to check whether they could seat us. Are you frikking kidding me? She came back to report that she could seat us but the whole party would have to be present for her to do so. I almost walked out at this point, but I wasn't sure if there would be anything else to eat in Lodi at the 90F heat... Finally she sat us down when we got 5 of our people together.
The bill came to $30 for lunch with beer. That's way too much in Lodi dollars.
