If you are in the right mood for The Log Jam, it usually delivers.  That is, you need to be in the mood for large plates of meat (especially the actually-quite-decent prime rib, rare of course), buttressed by a salad bar stacked to the brim with iceberg wedges and blue cheese.  Order anything other than these, and you'll get into trouble.

Having said that, who wants to eat giant piles of meat and iceberg lettuce in July?  Aside from someone on an Atkins diet, I mean.

Do not visit or even waste your time, outback is a much better choice,  the only reason i give it a 2 is because they probably have good Prime Rib, it looked good and they ran out at 7pm, people seems to enjoy it.  The salad bar is awful, no selection of any topics, the crab cakes were burnt and tasted horrible. I ordered the duck and it really was bad and rubbery, mash potatoes were very solid and not eatable at all.  I heard this was a great restaurant before, things change do not go.  The prices are way to high for the quality of food...

I really liked my ruben sandwich but I really wanted more from this place.

While driving through Lake George my family and I stopped for lunch and shopping.  The sandwich was good but the service was slow and the decor, well, beyond dated.

The three other members of my family didn't enjoy their meal as much as I did.  I'm sure there are better spots to try.

Nice rustic decor... definitely what you are expecting when you hear the name "log jam". We were just looking for a light late lunch... sat in the bar area and they had free 'pub cheese' and crackers, so we munched on some of that and ended up ordering clam chowder... which was okay. The salad bar looked good but we didn't want that much food. Our waiter was very friendly.

Very good steak house...full salad bar, my wife liked the house dressing...had a medium rare 10 oz rib eye....cooked correctly and tasty...there were some interesting sides on the menu but we didn't try them...would definitely  eat here again

We went to the Log Jam after trying to go to Moosetooth Grille, which was closed for the season. Other than the indoor Six Flags Waterpark, Lake George overall goes into deep hibernation in the winter.  Just trying to order a pizza from anywhere after 11pm is near impossible.  But I had bookmarked the Log Jam as an alternative based on the great reviews here so we went there.

We had a party of 11 and they were definitely able to accommodate us at a long table.  The atmosphere is very rustic and everyone liked the decor.  There are real candles everywhere (much to the in insurer's dismay I am sure).  It was sort of like the old "Bugaboo Creek" chain, but much more authentic and way more intimate.  The service was great and our server was very attentive.

My only complaint was regarding prices.  The Log Jam is definitely not cheap overall, but not crazy expensive either.  Just be prepared that most kids menu plates cost $10 each (not including drink) and most adult entrees start over $20 a plate.  There 2-3 chicken/pork dishes that are around $17 a plate, but most steaks will start at $23 and move up to $40 a plate.  Don't expect any burger options.  So the two $$ you see here on Yelp is slightly misleading as this place is definitely a high $$ to low-$$$.

My fiance ordered the $23 "small" prime rib and it was average.  Prime Rib is Prime Rib so not much surprise.  She didn't like it though and gave it to me.  I thought it was a bit too fatty for the price.  I definitely had to carve around some fat and left quite a bit of fat on the plate when done.  The mash potatoes were excellent.  I loved the texture, which were somewhat creamy but somewhat chunky.

My original dish which I gave to her and  which I ate some of was Roasted Pork loin with a sort of apple crust.   It was very good.  The pork was essentially a pork chop and it cooked to perfection.  The apple crust was quite good as well.  A nice spin on the traditional pork chops and apple sauce meal.

Overall our bill for 10 diners (5 adults, 5 kids) was $250 including the tip.  The adults had 4 beers and a margarita between them.  Overall it was a pleasant meal and I would definitely recommend it if you want an authentic Lake George dining experience.

The prime rib, steaks, and salad bar was great.  The service was very good.  I like that they take reservations and honor them.  When my party of 10 arrived, the table was ready and seated immediately.  The only issue is the Alaskan King Crab legs were very salty and they were the claw and tips portion.  I would stay away from them next time.

"rustic" is in almost every review--love it.

Ok, I loved this place.  Food was delicious, generous portions, reasonably priced (Lake George = tourist trap), and our waiter was fantastic.  The salad bar (and BREAD!) was great.  Fresh, not overwhelming with choices, but plenty of variety.  Not a clusterf*ck to navigate, which is probably the biggest perk!

Can I also just mention that I have a growing aversion to GIANT menus?  The Log Jam has a concise menu, but there are enough choices to please everyone.  Will definitely go again.

The name is pretty hilarious. Now that's out of the way. We stopped here on the way home from Montreal. I saw salad bar on my app and I said to myself: I could go for one of those. I know, my man makes fun of my love for salad bars. I just do love the options of building my own perfect salad. And is this salad bar a good one.

First, the ambiance is a log cabin type place, super rustic, dark, candle light. I feel like I've been coming here since I was a child but, in fact this was my first time. Love. The service was so friendly and amicable and the prices? Fughetaboutit. Add the salad bar for $7 to any app, all entrees come with salad bar, all entrees come with half entree price that also includes salad bar. Amaze. I went with the half order of crabmeat stuffed shrimp for like $16. I received 4 plump shrimp in a breaded stuffing. I was so full from the salad bar trips that by the time the crustaceans came, I didn't mind much that they were just decent.

Is this place swank? Nah. Is this place a must stop for foodies of the world? Nah. But, I'll tell you what, I'd stop again, no doubt.

The food is straightforward, no-nonsense, and solid quality.  If I'm ever up this way again I'll plan on eating here at least once.

My husband and I got there almost 9:15pm(Closing time was 9:30pm) but we were able to relax and enjoy the meal. Restaurant has rustic feel to it and very coze feeling. Salad bar was worth to try, we had lobster and king crab legs with steak in the side. They were all delicious. Staffs are friendly also.

This is a rustic-themed restaurant that we visited for lunch.  It was fairly busy upon our arrival around noontime but we were seated immediately and our drink order soon followed.

The server did an excellent job with our group of 10.  Drinks were kept full and plates were cleared in a timely fashion.

The salad bar comes with every meal and it's really a good one.  The salad bar alone is really all you need for lunch.  It's plenty of food to fill you up and I had to stop eating mine to save room for the entrée.  My only complaint is the Ice Cold salad plates you're forced to use.  I wish they gave you the option of a room-temperature plate.  You almost wish you had an oven mitt while going through the line it's so cold.

The entrees are quite large so the price here is spot on.  The value vs. the amount of food is very good.  I just had issue with the meal's flavor.  I ordered the filet strips with onions and mushrooms served over bowtie pasta and some sort of a brown sauce/gravy.

    It "looked" fabulous.  It wasn't.

One problem was the filet was overcooked.  Looking back, the waiter never asked how I wanted the steak prepared.  I also had issue with the flavor of the sauce.  It was almost tasteless and blah.  The meal lacked any type of appeal to my taste buds.  What I had in front of me was a bowl full of overcooked filet strips, mushy bowtie pasta, served with canned mushrooms and flavorless gravy.  I never could find an onion.

Stick to the salad bar and you won't be disappointed.

My girlfriend and I recently spent a weekend up in Lake George.  Out of all the sub-par, mediocre businesses we interacted with, the happy exception was the Log Jam Restaurant.

We called ahead around 8 pm on a Friday night to find out if they were still open (they were), and they set an 8:30 reservation.  Upon arrival, they immediately seated us.  Our server was friendly and attentive; her only mistake was forgetting a glass of wine my girlfriend ordered, but it was served as soon as my girlfriend reminded her.

Around 9 pm, our section of the restaurant started to quiet down.  Our server let us know that we shouldn't worry: while they were starting to close the section, we were under no obligation to hurry.  We never felt rushed.

My girlfriend and I both ordered steak, and partook of the salad bar; the food was very good, although my steak was more medium than the "medium well" I ordered, so you may want to adjust your order accordingly.  (That's why I typically order "medium well" instead of "medium" -- better to get a medium "medium well" steak than a medium-rare "medium" steak.)

If I ever return to Lake George (which is unlikely, considering how boring the area proved to be), I'll be sure to return to the Log Jam as a safe bet in an otherwise disappointing tourist spot.

Okay, so this place isn't "fine dining", no matter how you define the term - but my family and I love it! Is it kitschy? Yes. Goofy name and campy lodge decor? Yes! Freshest and best salad bar around? Count on it. Good soups and salads and lunch fare? You're darn tootin'. I never had dinner here, so I can't comment on the supper meals, but we've had salads, sandwiches and soups here, and all were really good. Our waiters and waitresses have all been nice and attentive. We found the prices to be reasonable (especially since the meals include the wonderful salad bar). My only qualm might be, the womens' bathroom could be cleaner. But that wasn't a deal-breaker; we'll definitely be back.

As a bar it's great.  Huge beer selection including Budweiser's gluten free Red Bridge.  However, the exterior design is a little weird- it feels like you're walking in to an eatery at Disney World's Frontier Land.  Where are the imagineers hiding in Lake George?

Like I said, great bar to to chill and drink with friends.

They leave out an absurd amount of complimentary crackers and spreadable cheese  that people were going bat shit over.  The Log Jam knows their customers. And the Log Jam customers like mountains of free crackers on their plate.

I don't know how the food is, didn't have it- I didn't even have a cracker.  Damn gluten.  But if you're looking for a place to relax and don't know the area well (as we sure as hell didn't) you'll find solace and crackers at Log Jam.

This was the first time we ate there. Average @ best. My wife's steak was undercooked. Mine was over cooked. Kids had children's baby backed ribs which we had a couple. The barbecue sauce was so so. For the money, find another place is you want a GOOD steak.

Very good grilled food, huge salad bar, decent service, but ridiculous prices - I mean $38 for a piece of salmon, even very good Alaskan salmon, is not what you would expect in a joint next to outlet stores and off the Thruway.

We were stuffed! We didn't even have lunch and we went hiking before this dinner! We ordered one of the last prime ribs (16 oz.). We arrived around 7pm, so if you want prime rib for dinner, come earlier. The entrees come with the salad bar. If you order appetizer, you can add the salad bar for less than the original price. The salad bar was very fresh, however the bread did not look like it was touched. We ordered escargots and grilled bread. We wanted to order the steamed clams, but the restaurant was out of it. The prime ribs come with two sides. We ordered french fries and wild pilaf. The french fries were crispy and moist. The wild pilaf was nutty. Overall, if we come back to Lake George, we're coming back.

We had the BBQ shrimp and steamed clams apps, French onion soup and the salad bar. Everything was great. The shrimp was a little too BBQ, it would have been better grilled in BBQ sauce not sitting in it. The salad bar was great, especially the croutons.

Every time we are in Lake George for AMERICADE, it's part of our tradition to ear here.  I can't say I've ever had a bad meal here.  I am a huge fan of the salad bar and the large variety of breads freaky baked in the premises.

I was part of a group of 7 driving home to the City from a weekend home upstate when we stopped in at the outlet mall in Lake George. After some credit-card-melting time spent in the shops, we were all hungry and, upon a Ralph Lauren cashier's recommendation, ventured over to Log Jam.

I couldn't stop snickering about the name. If they ever go out of business, they'd make a killing as a porn studio. "Log Jam Productions." But I digress...

The atmosphere is lovely, though it was freezing cold. We all had to keep our winter coats on through the meal. The waitress was friendly, but not terribly attentive. I had to ask twice for my Diet Coke. The food was quite good and filling, so I can't complain about that. I felt that the prices were a bit steep, considering how far out in the country we were, but I guess when you're located in an outlet mall, you can charge a bit more and still expect to draw a crowd.

It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't terrible either. I wouldn't mind returning, should the opportunity ever arise. I just hope they have the heat on next time.

Love this place.  Ambiance is amazing, food is delicious and the drinks were pretty good too.

The bar area has romantic soft music, looks like a lovely log cabin with a beautiful and a large fire place.  We got prime seating in the bar area, right in front of the fire place.  They had a pot of soup hanging off the fire place, tonight's soup was stuffed-pepper and it was really delicious - the payment for soup goes to charity, and is $1... WOW!  They also had cheese and crackers out.

Go there, have a romantic and relaxing evening, you'll be happy you did.

We went at 5pm, just as the restaurant was opening for dinner, and it was filling up fast.  The atmosphere is very cozy (think log cabin).  The salad bar was very good, lots of variety of vegetables and variety of salads - you must try the fresh raisin bread (runs out quickly) and the toasted sunflower seeds (at the end of the salad bar).  The entrees, however, were disappointing - both the fish and the steak were sub par.

Passed through here on a road trip, my only real complaint was I wish it wasn't so far away! Everyone was extremely friendly! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the prices are very fair. My boyfriend and I split the french onion soup, and it was one of the best bowls of soup I've ever had! (& I'm a big fan of soup) The cheese melted over the top of the crock, is the perfect touch! Really, whats onion soup without it? The 2 guys I was with both had the ribs, and thoroughly enjoyed them. I had a bacon cheese burger, and the flavor was great. I believe Ilene menu said it was serloin, and the better cut of meat definitely makes a world of difference in a burger! On top of that, the salad bar is awesome, everything you can imagine to put on your salad!

When we left, as we were walking over to the stores we heard someone yelling. Turns out it was our server! We forgot our leftovers and she fallowed us out to make sure we got them! You can't find that very many places.

WOW. Talk about a family favorite. Every trip up to LG includes a trip to Logjam.

Salad Bar- Phenomenal (tuna salad, pasta salad, potato salad, fruit, etc)
Bar- Top of the line (fireplace with chili, log cabin feel)
Food- Splendid (seafood was fresh but gave me the squirts. Steaks (thumbs up)
    Environment- Woodsy, outdoorsy, Log Cabin.

LBD Scale: Words can't describe this place and what it did to my pallette. I can't wait to go back up there again. 9.5!!

A MUST GO when I'm in Lake George!

Fantastic food, service and ambiance. Their Salad bar is delicious, the pasta salad is to die for. I always say I'll order the mouthwatering lobster, but I always try something new on the menu and it never disappoints. Recently, I had the triple deal which is lobster, scallops and shrimp in a light white sauce with pasta... DELICIOUS!!!! The deserts are phenomenal like the CHOCOLATE LOG which will have you addicted for days to come... and it's near the outlets mall... Perfection!

I really enjoyed this place even though I wasn't feeling too well on my visit.

I ordered The Travers which was a chicken breast smothered in tomato basil and mozzarella cheese. Each meal comes with a salad and a decent number of choices for a side. I chose the french fries, but was offered other forms of potato as well as rice.

Salad bar was very good. Many options to chose from and lots of toppings. Pasta salads were also available as well as freshly sliced bread.

The scenery around this place was very pleasant .  Be prepared to spend a lot of money if you visit here.  Dinners are expensive, but they give you the option of a lite portion on some meals.  Which is cheaper and more than enough food for myself.

I highly recommend a reservation.  It'll get you right in.  I only wish I was hungrier when we payed our visit.

This place is right near the outlets and has such a quaint feel inside.  It is actually pretty large too but it doesn't have that feel.  The salad bar is included with everything and the sandwiches are mostly under $10 so it's a great deal.  The reason for the three stars instead of more is that I ordered the Adirondack burger and it was just gross.  The meat was low quality and just everything about it was blech.  Good thing I enjoyed the salad bar beforehand so I wasn't annoyed with leaving hungry.  My mom ate the odd "french fries" it came with which were huge slices of potato that I guess you were supposed to cut up to eat.  Overall the food is a bit disappointing since my mom didn't seem enamored either.

Adirondack-themed steakhouse with good food and service. Fans of red meat, especially Prime Rib, will be happy.  The place is busy and popular, so be sure to reserve.

Besides, don't you just love the look on someone's face when you say: "I'm taking you to THE LOGJAM!"

Out-of-towners here, very pleased to find this place!  Great salad bar, new england clam chowder, etc.  We had lunch for 6 and before tip our bill was about $60.

One kid had the ribs, one tuna croissant, one turkey club, one chik quesadilla.  The grown-ups had salad bar -n- soup.  All very good.

Friendly service, a real treat.  Highly recommended.

    Downhome food.

The fare here is quite homey.  They do a really good French dip sandwich (also comes with horseradish sauce) and their BBQ ribs are also pretty fantastic.  Food perhaps can be a little hit-or-miss - we the plain roast beef sandwich was rather dry and the steak fries that came with the French dip sandwich was overly fried and hard.

Many of the dishes come with the self-service salad bar where there's a good assortment of veggies, cold salads etc to munch on.  The cold peas and pasta/tuna salad were great.  There's also a bread station that serves this really tasty and chewy raisin bread.

Service is really quick and very friendly.

I'd definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some place filling, casual, comfortable and tasty.  It's great for crowds and families.

I think this might be a better place to have steak.  Alas, my husband ordered the duck (dry and with a very sweet, wierd sauce) and I had the salmon (way too complicated for my taste.... encrusted with tons of stuff instead of just being simple).

The other reviewers are correct... the salad bar is good.  My husband really liked the huge selection of bread they have on it.  Service was on the slow side but adequate.

Seemed to be a very mediocre meal for the money it cost.

    So I have a story...

We came here for dinner the first night we arrived at our hotel.  It was right across the street and I had been here years ago but didn't remember much about it.  We walked over while shopping at the outlets and made a reservation for 8pm.

We arrived a few minutes early and went into the bar where there was free cheese and crackers = one star!

We sat down and ordered, since we had a big lunch we were gonna share a meal.  Prime rib was selected, fine with me.   On to the salad bar...really good!  Good bread, decent lettuce, lots of over mayo'ed salads...

The dinner came out, nicely split on 2 plates - the meat was good.  I don't love prime rib I don't think but it was decent, edible.  As a side we chose the cream cheese and carmelized onion mashed potatoes because we are fat kids.  I was excited.  I have a few bites, they are allright.  Then I take another forkful and there is something weird....something hard....I spit it out and lo and behold it's a little rock!  Hurray a rock in my dinner!

I tried not to make a huge deal and I told the waiter about it and what I thought it was, he launches into this story about how the cooks play hacky sack in the back, it got in someone's pocket, he's mixing the mashed potatoes, rock falls in, goes on my plate, into my mouth...etc.etc.etc...

Err, ok.  So I figure I'll get a free meal?  A few dollars off?  Wrong.  Instead I got an enormous toll house cookie pie dessert!  Yahoo!  It was really good but not as good as a free dinner for having a rock in the potatoes would have been.  My parents met up with us at this point and helped us finish the montrosity of ice cream, cookies, etc....

Without the rock it would have gotten more stars...but I don't think that's a regular occurence so try it out!

I enjoy dining here for lunch or dinner. The interior of the restaurant is similar to dining inside an old log cabin in the Adirondacks. The lighting is very dim. The Log Jam has good steaks, chicken, prime rib, chops & seafood and a great salad bar.

For dinner, I enjoy the Maple Dijon Salmon (baked with an apple pecan crust) with baked potato and all dinners include the Salad Bar. The Salad Bar has fresh greens and a great variety of salad condiments, dressings, homemade salads, fruit, and bread from Bountiful Bread (the cinnamon raisin bread is my favorite).

For dessert, Ben & Jerry's ice cream is offered, but I usually have had enough to eat. The service has been friendly on each of my visits.

Wonderful food.  Well worth the price and wait. Many of the restaurants decorate their premises to accommodate the natural surroundings. The Log Jam is one of them. I felt like I was in colonial times.
