If you want tender, properly cooked meat, this is the place to go. My pork chop was the best I've ever had: boneless, at least 2 inches thick and oh so tender and not a bit dry. I had mine prepared with BBQ sauce, but not necessary as the pork itself was so flavorful. Attentive wait staff and even though the dining room was full, the noise level was tolerable. No loud music to make conversing difficult. I will definitely go back again.
Review Source:Great atmosphere, great service, excellent food. Had smoked salmon and brie appetizer, 6oz steak perfectly cooked and topped with sautéed mushrooms, scallops, baked potato, and salad. Bloody Mary was good. The place was full as we finished our early meal. No room for dessert, but saw one go by that looked yummy. Short drive from Missoula and well worth the experience. Concur $$$.
Review Source:Quick question for you:
How far did your beef travel the last time you had a great grilled steak?
How big was its carbon hoofprint?
(... awkward silence).
Well, if you are in Lolo, Montana, the answer can be "just down the road." I saw the cows in the meadow not but 15 minutes ago. They looked ... tasty.
Most of the steaks here are Midwestern corn fed USDA certified, but they also serve local grass-fed Angus beef from the OZ Lolo Trail Ranch (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lolotrailranch.com%2F&s=d285b9f714f9da207cb643443749eaa38e3679063dff5cd573a28ad013abe0ee" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.lolotrailranc…</a>), which makes these steaks really local. You could walk to the beef, if you wanted to.
And the grill at the steakhouse is on the Montana list of natural wonders, almost: a huge expanse of fire and iron and smoke.
Plus, there is local whiskey at the bar, which goes great with a black coffee at the end of your meat, potatoes, and vegetable meal.
Can't get much fresher than that. (Unless you butchered the cow yourself, that is).
A nice restaurant with attentive staff. Â The food was good, but nothing really floored me. Â My steak was tasty, and cooked properly, but I'll agree with other reviewers that it was spendy for what it was. Â I'd just expected something more for a well-reviewed steakhouse in Montana. Â Being Texan, I'm picky about steak, and always feel chagrined paying too much for it.
All that said, the decor was really nice. Â The people were really nice. Â It just doesn't live up to the hype the locals I asked were giving it, for the price I paid.
Lolo creek was recommended as the best steak place in the Missoula area so we decided to drop in while in town fishing. The ambiance and setting is very rustic with large open beams, vaulted ceilings and just about every game animal stuffed on the walls. A really nice dining area.
We had a few minute wait on our table so we sat at the bar. Â Service was quick and courteous. We were seated just minutes later. The menu features predominantly steak but there were a few other choices, but not a lot of appetizer choices. We both had the ribeye steak and loaded potato. The steaks were cooked perfectly (medium rare) with a nice char. Â While the steak tasted good both weren't overly juicy which was surprising. Again excellent wait staff checked on us frequently for drinks, etc. When I'm back in town I may try them again.
Delicious steak
I heard this was the "must go to" steakhouse if you pass thru missoula. So after reading the reviews i decided what the hell, whats a few more dollars for a good steak.
The decor was definitely awesome. Log style cabin, moose heads, bears, elk, deer, wolves fighting big antler looking animals. All sort of cool country stuff.
The service was average, and the drinks were good (blackberry mojito yummy). I had the ribeye medium-well. The steak came out juicy and delicious. I wont say it was my best steak because it didnt melt in my mouth, BUT it was definitely up there.
To make this place better i'd have to say please lower your prices, although an above average steak the price seems like it deters costumers away.
Come here if you want to leave in the greatest food coma of your life! It's a little pricey but a good steak in the Missoula area isn't cheap! It's definitely up there with the best Steak in these parts. The drinks are also pretty pricey so this is a place for a once in a lifetime treat! The restaurant itself is very homey with the log cabin feel and it doesn't get too noisy so you can still have a good conversation with your company here.
Review Source:We visited Missoula for our second time this past summer. I found an ad for this steakhouse and I begged my fiance to drive the extra 10 miles to lolo. Wow, this place was Amazing!!! The log cabin is adorable, the taxidermy throughout the restaurant is awesome to look at, and the service was great! The food was soooooooo delish. I got a red angus from a farm down road. It was cooked to perfection. I wish I did not live so far from here but I hope we can make it out again next summer because Lolo steakhouse is always on my mind :)
Review Source:We came here for dinner and I really liked it we got a steak and bbq chicken that my husband and I shared and I dont even like bbq sauce and I loed this bbq sauce. it was really good. The steak was also very good. everything else was just ok but the meat is well worth the visit. I also like that they leave a pitcher of water at your table. server was great as was everyone else that was working there.
Review Source:This place came highly recommended by the locals. Classic Monatana steakhouse - log cabin, big cuts of meat, and lots of big game on the walls.
Steak is the name of the game, obviously, and they don't disappoint with delicious slabs of locally raised beef. Sides were typical but good for a steakhouse - baked potato, sweet potato, etc.
Situated in a beautiful log cabin built from trees cut down on the site. Â Family run, friendly, very western/Montana atmosphere with stuffed wildlife on the walls and beams, large wood-fired grill upon which most all of the meats are cooked, bar area and the nicest wait staff you could imagine.
If you don't like you meal, for any reason, have the cajones to point it out to your server and they will make it good for you. Â This is a family operation and they want happy customers that will come back. Â
Steak and chops are the name of the game (pun intended) and the family uses local a couple of local ranches that age the meat to their specifications. Â Again, if you get a bad/tough/flavorless hunk of meat...let them know.
You get a nice relish tray, a rarity now-a-days, the salads are a nice mix of greens and the meat comes with a variety of starches and you can get extras like grilled onions and mushrooms.  Ask for what you want, but if  you get too fancy the answer most likely will be "no".
We take visitors here on a regular basis to put them into a Montana mood. Â People are friendly and helpful just about everywhere. Â Guy's is local, successful and good.
Enjoy the Montana ambiance.
Another must stop when I visit Missoula. this is a true Montana steak house experience. The steak is simple with no frills and lets you really taste the meat. I almost always go for the T-bone topped with mushrooms and a baked potato. Sometimes I add the crab leggs but  then I always take home half of the steak. ( actually I do that anyway the steaks are big)  It has always been cooked at a perfect med-rare for me.  Just dont orger the shrimp cocktail, ever, the pre made trays at the grocery store are better...it was no good.
Food: is great
Service:no complaints
Decore: lots of animals and horns, very Montana
Very good tenderloin. Â As far as Bitterroot restaurants go, it's high priced - as far as nice steakhouses go, it not high priced at all. Â With Bitterroot restaurants leaning more towards heavy comfort food, Lolo Steakhouse is a refreshing change of quality. Â They've cleaned up and polished the place in the last 3 years. Â It's quite nice! Â Still a taxidermy haven, so if critters watching you devour their meaty cousins makes you nervous...perhaps this place (or Montana) isn't the place for you. Â We always love this place!
Review Source:This used to be a great place to eat but has really gone down hill. Expect to pay $25-$30 per person for an entree. Â I've had the steak and halibut and both were below average. My steak was so tough, it was like chewing tree bark. Â The halibut was fishy and just plain disgusting. The portions are small and the service is average. There are many other places to eat at that not only taste better but save you money. Â However if you want a restaurant with a Montana outdoors feel to it, this is the place.
Review Source:After moving to Lolo, we have eaten at the Lolo Creek Steakhouse a number of times. The raw veggie plate, in place of the usual bread  is a very nice twist. After the veggies, you feel that you have done your service to mankind and your body and have a nice juicy steak. The service is steakhouse/local friendly. The food is excellent, if not perfect (baked potato was a little less than perfect.) The steaks are just right, and the seafood is great, even so far from the ocean.
The taxidermy keeps your eyes busy until your dinner arrives. The occasional flame off the wood-fired grill adds to the ambiance. Â If there is a downside, it's that the dining room becomes very loud when the restaurant is full, which seems very strange considering how much shape there is in the ceiling and walls.
Went here a couple weeks ago during a fishing trip to Montana and it was the best meal on our trip. I had the sirloin and NY strip on 2 different occasions and both were great. Great atmosphere with a log cabin feel and their grill is right on the floor. There was no fat on the steak and I ate the whole thing. It was the best steak I've ever had and don't believe these list of best steakhouses in America with places in NY or Chicago. Ever seen a cow in Chicago. You can look out the window here and see them.
Review Source:Went here on my recent trip to Montana. We had my husband's birthday dinner here. After 6 years of living in Missoula and never going here ( was always to broke) I finally made the trek 8 miles south of Missoula.
I love the log cabin feel of the restaurant. It is a spacious dining room. The staff is friendly and attentive and works together well. Prices range from around 11.99 and up to $40 for meals. They have a full bar.
I got the Beef Tip Dinner which came with a salad and baked potato. it was very generous portion wise and I had some to take back to the hotel with me, as I saw most other people left with to go bags as well. My husband got a steak.....which he devoured. Each table also gets a "relish tray" which is carrots, brocolli, cauliflower and celery with ranch dressing to dip it in. Refreshing from the usual bread basket.
I just joined Yelp and was checking out the reviews in or new my home town. Â I was absolutely shocked that the Lolo Creek Steakhouse did not appear even though Subway and Burger King did.
Being a university town and all, Missoula has quite a few  fine restaurants for a small city, but none can even come close to the atmosphere at the Steakhouse.  I dare to say that if you are traveling through and are not a vegetarian, then you absolutely should check it out. Â
The Steakhouse It is in cedar log building decorated with elaborate taxidermy mounts including an amazing tableau of wolves taking down a caribou. Â Steaks are cooked "cowboy style" over an open flame and are among the best in the state (remember, you come to a steakhouse for the steak). Â The staff is attentive and friendly. Â You can even get a huckleberry daiquiri. Â Â Top it all off with a coconut macaroon brownie sundae, 1000 calories of sinful decadence.
