Plonk

Been here several times and the food is consistently fantastic. Cocktails are great, too. The upstairs outdoor patio is a hidden gem in Missoula. We recently attended a winemaker's dinner and had an incredible experience. We got to meet Chef and the winemaker and the food and wine were incredible, as is the wine cellar downstairs. Thos is definitely a hot, new spot and it's great to have something like this in Missoula.

I've actually been to Plonk four times for drinks and food. I'm a fan of the bar; the jury is still out on the food. I've not ventured much beyond salads, crab cake, spring roll and a few cheese selections.  While some Yelpers opine that the prices are high and portions small, I would suggest the prices are in line with the quality of the ingredients and offerings.  The staff is working hard on learning the extensive menu that, for cheese alone, has 16 plus selections -- a lot of items to understand, to be able to properly describe flavors, textures, origins, etc.  Presentation is generally well executed, too.  The kitchen seems inflexible on changes to the menu items.  For instance, I was not able to add any protein item to my  spinach salad.  A skewer of chicken or shrimp would have been a nice option to make it a complete meal.

I enjoy the atmosphere and the seating options, both indoor, outdoor and upstairs on the deck.  There is a separate wine cellar room available for private parties up to 16 people as well.  The staff are very friendly and offer helpful suggestions when ordering if asked.  Plonk is a great addition to the Missoula bar and restaurant scene.

My wife and I finally got a date night saturday may 25 2013 and we spent it at Plonk, and it was definitely worth it!! We were greeted immediately and were able to sit in the front of the restaurant where the front windows were wide open and the amazing montana air was blowing through.  We started out with an espresso martini and a pink panther martini and wow!!!!  The best infusions I have ever tried.  Our waitress was super professional and on point all through our time here. For appetizers we had the tequila lime crab cake and seared prawns both of which just melted in your mouth. My wife isn't a huge fan of avocado but she absolutely loved how all the ingredients just set her taste buds off!  We then ordered a beef tenderloin and the salmon roulade which by the way is absolutely fresh!!! As a matter a fact it was brought to our attention that the salmon was never frozen and just the day before was being caught in Alaska and flown to the plonk here In missoula.  When we recieved our entree the beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection a perfect mediun rare and when slicing through it it just fell apart and it was extraordinary in taste and the mash potatoes were to die for. Our slamon was cooked to perfection as well as you put your fork into it it just open right up and the asparagus and polenta were excellent combination with it.  For the food and drinks that are served in this restaurant plus atmosphere and service the price is very reasonable if you have not given plonk a try it is a definite MUST.!!!!
