Nothing fancy, just a good "locals" bar, with better than average food. Â Service was surprisingly attentive as there were only 2 ladies waiting on everyone, and the place was packed. Â $3 onion rings were generous and tasty. Â Hubby had pizza, also good. Â I had cod-n-chips, four large cod strips atop a ridiculous pile of fries, could easily be shared for two people. Â Cod was very good, it had something "different" about it, I'd swear it was "buttered" somehow (and we know everything is better with butter!). Â The cup of coleslaw with the cod was surprisingly fresh and delicious, too. Â Nice place to hang, low key, good food, will stop in again when we're up that way.
Review Source:DEAR GOD, that Norwegian pizza was amazing (lobster, shrimp, crab, artichokes)! My husband & I visited from Portland for the weekend and based on the reviews, stopped in for lunch. There was a pool tournament going on, so the place was very busy with a lively atmosphere. VERY entertaining locals-watching, super-friendly service from our waitress, and as mentioned above, amazing pizza. We'll be having the leftovers for dinner in our hotel room tonight. And it's going to be awesome.
Review Source:I wrote a review on this place last year that would have barely given the place one star due to the ridiculously rude staff and service. I visited once again this last weekend and I must say, this place has changed dramatically. The staff and service was night/day compared to last time. I spent a lot of my time in Long Beach here because of the service, friendliness, and the PIZZA! Bartenders are friendly and very nice and they just treat you the way you're supposed to be treated. I will definitely return!
Review Source:From another reviewer: "....and I didn't feel particularly welcomed."
You weren't, go home.
The LBT is a great place to hang out, meet new people and enjoy the fact that the down-to-Earth lifestyle is the way to spend those extra hours when the work is done (or sometimes instead of work).
Go there! Â Great food (try the calzone (you will not believe the cal-fricken-zone!)) the beer is really cold. Â I hate it when a place that serves "cold beer" tries to save a few pennies by turning down the beer coolers. Â I always leave them a suggestion that gets me 86'd.
Don't waste your time here. Â We sat at the bar for 10 -15 minutes with 3 women bar tenders that saw us, smiled but would not take our drink order. Â This is not the first time there. Â They are extremely rude, the food is less than average and there is no excuse to serve the men at the bar and not the women. Â Go to Castaways instead. Â Great service and great food.
Review Source:Okay, we did not have the highest expectations going into a tavern for pizza but they had a good selction. Â Well, we were blown away with how good our vegetarian pzza was! Â Loaded high with veggies, not too greasy, not too much chesse, and the crust and sauce was excellent.
Our waitress was more than helpful and friendlyand we got a kick out of the mostly 1970's style decor. Â Lots of locals in there and some were obviously under the influence but it wasn't too loud nor was anyone obnoxious.
We say best pizza in Long Beach adn recommend it to all!
Did not expect to like This place as much as we did. Dive bar atmosphere, obviously preferred by locals since we saw others venture in, look around & leave. We dropped in for a beer after several hours of hiking and exploring the area. A couple tables of very LOUD, inebriated, foul-mouthed patrons nearly caused us to leave but thank God they left before we split. We had a frosty, large pitcher of beer (good bargain) and opted for a pizza of Canadian bacon & fresh tomato. Wow! We were expecting an OK pizza to fill our hungry bellies, but instead were WOWED by a delicious surprise! The homemade dough had a wonderful, chewy, yeasty flavor - thin butfully capaable of supportting the substantial load of fresh mozzarella, meat & ripe tomatoe slices. We ate half for lunch and heated the rest on our campfire that night, so we got two satisfying meals for a very reasonable tab! We will be back on our next visit to the area. Lower stars are for atmosphere and rest of menu was basic fried bar fare. Might try a burger next time since they looked pretty good, too.
Review Source:Winter Storm 2012 Armageddon Blizzard Blast was barreling down on the Pacific Northwest! My client had court in Long Beach in the morning so I decided to escape the storm and bunker down in Long Beach for the night.
Most of the bars and restaurants were closed by the time I rolled into town, but the LBT was still open. The LBT is a great classic bar/restaurant. There are a couple of pool tables, jukebox, a fireplace, pub menu, and most importantly, beer.
I ordered a Blue Moon (or a couple) Â and the bartender and I made small talk- mostly about the weather and her divorce. I love small town chatter! Â No holds barred.
Just as I opened the menu, the other three patrons began throwing out suggestions. In the end, I buckled under the peer pressure and ordered "The Pounder with cheese and bacon." Â I did not need a pounder but the "gang" sure convinced me that I did.
The Pounder was a very good burger. I admit that I used a fork and knife in the end. A little posh but I don't think anyone cared. They were just impressed that I finished it.
Although I made it an early night, I will always remember Winter Storm 2012 Armageddon Blizzard Blast at the LBT. I look forward to returning during nicer weather.
This bar is a lot of fun! We drove from Seattle to visit with 4 of our friends, and we spent our Saturday night playing here. They have several pool tables, a nice long bar, a lot of seating, and karaoke! A very homey comfortable place to just hang out and enjoy time together. The bar tender was extremely friendly, and took good care of us! She gave good suggestions on the local beers & drinks. Good memories were made here, and we will definitely be back the next time we visit Long Beach :)
Review Source:This is a great place! Â Don't expect a touristy place just because it is on the main street among gift shops and tourist traps. This is a great home town bar that makes you feel like you are home once you enter. Â They have a full bar and great burgers, plus they have home made pizzas to order. 2 pool tables, lots of seating, dj/karaokee some nights, jukebox, and lots of fun to go around. My friends and I went there are first night in town and liked it so much that we had to come back the second!
Review Source:This is what my husband published on LBT's Facebook page...
We go to Illwaco/Long Beach every year, and this year we decided that all the adults would go out for a night and we had the best time. The owner and the locals that patronize this fine establishment are wonderful friendly people. Oh, and you can't forget to have lunch or dinner there as well. All the pizzas are outstanding and the beer is cold.
Thank you guys for being so friendly, it's getting harder and harder to find a good "Tavern" anymore!
If I were to create my perfect dive bar it would be the LBT! This is another go to stop in Long Beach. It's got wood paneling, a roaring fire, black pleather booths, pool, TVs, pub grub, pull tabs, stiff drinks and cheap beer!
I go down to Long Beach with a big group of friends at least once a year. We always make a point to include at least one stop at LBT. It was Daytona 500 Sunday this trip. I'm not really a racing fan myself but when in Long Beach do as the Long Beachers do! Everyone was friendly and having a good time. In the time I was there I got 4 beers, a shot of Jack and a basket of clams & fries for only $24! How can you beat that?!? After the race we found out it was free pool on Sundays. Seriously, there's nothing not to love about this place, even the ol' salty sea dogs that hang out in here.
Since the Pioneer doesn't have much in the way of food, we generally hit the LBT when we want beer AND food.
The burgers are good, fries are nice and crispy. I've never had anything else there, so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. The people have always been friendly, and there's usually a good crowd there in the evenings.
They've got pool tables and TV's to entertain, and I noticed the last time I went that they have free WiFi.
Good place for a burger and a beer in downtown Long Beach.
Where else would you go in this town for a stiff drink or to play pool?
A decent bloody mary made a great compliment to the Marsh museum.
It's a little dive-like, and there are definitely locals lined up at the bar. Old ladies fill a few tables. Who wouldn't love all of this in the early, early afternoon?
At least they don't stare at you like you're those crazy out-of-towners from "the city."
If I lived in Long Beach, Washington (Dear GOD I hope that never, ever happens) I would probably be hanging out at this average coast town part-dive-part-sports-bar all the time, drinking Milwaukee's Best with the locals.... Maybe not.
I wonder when businesses will figure out that charging $X.25 for a drink means they can only expect a $.75 tip.
Who's going to break a dollar to give them the extra quarter?
"Not I," said the goat.
