Los Ojos Restaurant and Saloon

Chopped lettuce and one slice of tomatoes are considered toppings for a greyish frozen burger patty. I wanted the buffalo but they were out, didn't they realize it was a sunday just before lunch rush that practically filled the place before we left. Steak fries that came from a frozen bag. Completely unimpressed. Service is good. The place is cool. But overpriced for the quality of food. A cool place to stop for a drink but I'd never eat there again.

We stopped here for lunch during a Sunday outing. The parking lot was full of motorcycles, which usually indicates a good cafe. Well,not this one.  We had the WORST food I have ever been served anywhere - and it wasn't cheap. But it was truly awful. I ordered what was described as an open face burger, but it arrived smothered in some kind of sauce? Gravy? Maybe it was to hide the disgusting gray color of the hamburger patty.  The fries didn't escape the gloppy sauce either, so the whole meal was inedible. I had lost my appetite anyway.

My boyfriend ordered a 1/3 lb. buffalo burger. He got a square patty that made McDonald's look big!  It was burned on one side and gray on the other.

Where else can you get a mohito where the bar tender hand  picks the mint out of the back garden?? There are bear skins, elk heads and old guns. One might be lead to believe this is just another tourist trap. But I digress, this is the real deal. After a day of walking through the hills of Jemez you may think this is the last bastion of civilization. And it is. You feel like an original cowboy trying to get somewhere and needing a home. You will find others like you. Cozz they know. I m not sure if we were starving but god damn that food was good. And the cheque left room to show our gratitude.
