I was there for Yappy Hour - dogs were all over the place. Â Normally, that might have been annoying, but they had great beers on tap that had taken my normally nasty attitude down a notch, so it added a cool vibe instead.
Really great beer selection. Â I loved the hand-pulled Fuller's ESB.
The other reviews pretty much sum up The Lost Kangaroo. Â This bar has a lot of beer diversity - over 180 beers either on tap or in a bottle. Â They also have a lot of great drinks and shots. Â My fave is the "Patriot Missile" which tastes good but the presentation is awesome - it is three-layered red, white and blue! Â I will say this, unless you say something, your drink will probably be strong.
Some things that really set this place apart from other bars in the area is that it is bigger than all the other bars so there is plenty of room to relax. Â I can go out with a bunch of friends and we can all find space to sit down and hang out together. Â The other bars are too small to hang out with a lot of friends. Â
They are also very dog-friendly. Â They leave out a water bowl and will give you treats for your pup if you ask.
The bartenders are also really nice and have been there forever. Â Some are more chatty than others but they are always good about getting drinks fast. Â I also agree they are very knowledgeable about beer. Â They have one new guy who I have stumped a couple of times but he is probably the nicest one of them all.
I will bounce around from bar to bar, when I am in downtown Bradenton, but I usually end up back at "The Roo" because the space and atmosphere are easy-going and friendly.
Nice tap selection at the Roo. Prices are fair, the place is clean. Unfortunately it is loud or maybe I'm old. Maybe both. The crowd tends to be young and very vocal when in their beers. Â If it is slow there I tend to enjoy it more, which is not necessarily very good for the business. I like the Roo, but only at times. 3-1/2 stars for me.
Review Source:I'd tap that.... KEG that is! Â And this joint has a nice selection of beers on tap! Â Came here for a work event a couple of times always enjoyed the place. Â For my fellow beer lovers this place is great! Â Wide selection of craft beers and their bottle beers are stacked with microbrews and other quality imports. Â The bartenders are knowledgeable of the beer and will give you a taste if you aren't sure. Â There is also a full bar, so everyone can be happy. Â There's a pool table and dart boards... you can even bring your dog inside. Â The vibe is a good mix of townies, travellers, young professional, college kids, old bikers.... everyone having a great time
All in all great bar for a relaxed evening  Whenever in Bradenton area, I'd hit that...
I am not from Bradenton, so I have yet to understand what townies here are like or the local dynamic. Â However, when I visited Lost Kangaroo it was my first time ever experiencing Old Main Street on a Friday night. Â It was encouraging to see that there are some young and well-dressed people in Bradenton. Â The street scene even reflected a less crowded Ybor.
As soon as I walked inside the bar, I was hit with a ton of staring eyes. Â The sports playing on the wide screen TV's had me making a b-line for the outdoor tables. Â The music ranged from decent to terribly annoying. Â An interesting mix of customers; Â baby-boomers, locals my age (stuck in the 90's like me), and twenty-somethings that must be college students from Sarasota. Â If the weather did not permit me to sit outside, then I would have probably not stayed here as long.
The Kangaroo has quite a large selection of beers on tap (39 types), as well as my beloved framoise on tap. Â The prices are average compared to other specialty beer bars in the area. Â
They have food, really? Â I did not see any evidence of that. Â
I would prefer to come back in the afternoon because things would be a bit more mellow then and there would be more parking.
If you love good beer, and by good beer I don't mean bud, mick or any of the national megolomart brands that are polluted with rice, then come to the lost kangaroo. Â There is nothing so nice as sitting at the tables out front of the pub, having a good flavorful beer, some peanuts and watching the shadows get long on old main street. Â I'm sad they no longer have london porter on tap, but there are plenty of tasty things here. Â Things from Rogue brewery, a good selection of English things as well as german, and of course Guinness. Â Now all they need is a bigger variety of dark beers and I'll give them that 5th star.
Review Source:the lost kangraoo pub was mine and my roommates' savior while we lived in bradenton. Â "BIG BEER" notably budweiser, evidently has a monopoly over the state of florida... as you cannot find anything but bud or michelob products at any store. Â for you floridians who think Amberbock is a good substitute for micro-brew... get a life! Â but at the Roo, you can find a wide variety of more worldly brews... john courage, stella, lambic, etc! YAY roo!
