Lou La Bonte's Restaurant and Lounge

This restaurant has been here forever and I think it's completely lost its will to live/survive.  

The salty old waitresses take no pride in their job whatsoever and come around to check on you MAYBE once every 45 minutes.  It's like they don't want to make money.  

They don't have beer on tap.  They were nice enough to give my mom a little extra of her cocktail on the side, since the martini glasses are miniature.

We ordered fried calamari, and it was about 75 percent bay shrimp.  It was also smothered in aioli and nobody asked if I wanted lemon.  It was really heavy, we didn't finish it.

The only reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one is because the karaoke was really fun and entertaining.  Who knew a dive like this could have so many passionate singers?  They're not Broadway caliber but they are vivacious.  The song selection is good and the guy who runs it is great.

specialty burgers are excellent! Atmosphere is secondary. Like the others, I think the 1 star reviewers were expecting something completely different. Good homemade comfort food, Good hometown feel, and the returning elderely clientelle speaks for itself. Great pitstop to reno/tahoe.

We were on our way up for a day in the snow when we stopped in Auburn for the night.  

This place right off the freeway caught our eye.  Before deciding where to eat I checked the reviews on Yelp and thought we can try it out.  

When walking in it felt like a good choice as there were locals at the bar and older folks eating.  The service was ok, nothing to complain about but the food was nothing special.  My husband ordered the prime rib and I ordered some pasta.  Both were mediocre and there was nothing special about it.  The service was good but I will not be returning.
