Great luau experience! Â Open bar too! Â They put alot of effort into organizing this event and into the shows. Â Yeah, it's a little over a $100 bucks a person, but you're on vacation!
For GPS peeps, you're find out that this luau address takes you to place not even close. Â Just put in the addy for the Koloa Rum Company which is right next to the luau. Â Free rum tasting there if you want to kill some time before the luau. lol
As I said in a previous post, I am the last person to advocate spending more than $15/person on a meal. Yes, I'm cheap when it comes to food. However, this luau receives 4 stars for overall experience. I arrived around 5:45pm in time to have a couple of Blue Hawaiis before dinner (it starts at 6:30pm) and to wander around the local craft tables set up. This is key. Make sure you arrive early so you can have a few drinks in your system before the buffet and show. I hate buffets but this one looked clean and I suppose I didn't mind as much with the drinks flowing. The show was nice to watch as well. The cons include the price ($104 each) and the fact that my boyfriend and I were seated with a family of 6. It would've been nice to sit with other young(ish) couples. I'm glad I experienced this but wouldn't pay to go back a second time. Once is good enough.
Review Source:My husband and I are on our honeymoon and this was our first Hawaiian adventure and we were not disappointed. Â
We were taken there by a tour bus (great life decision) and dropped off at the front gate. Â Be prepared to wait if you pre-paid to check in but it wasn't too long. Â The vibe outside of the plantation was very welcoming- from the drums pounding to the staff waiting to greet us. Â
When you first arrive you are escorted to your seat and your spot was held for you. Â My husband and I agreed that our experience was made by the greatness of our table guests. Two of the others were also honeymooners and the other couple come to the island every year and offered us many tips and must dos.
While you are waiting for the show you can grab a drink and walk around and view people's craftsmanship. Â I must admit like I read earlier the drinks were less than to be desired and I tried one of everything and threw them all away. The guava lava was my favorite of the three but I probably only drank about 1/4 of it.
The food was a great experience- the fact that it was a buffet made it more relaxing because if you didn't like something there was no harm in throwing it away. I must say that the pineapple salsa chicken was AMAZING and all should try it. Â The purple sweet potatoes were ok but very sweet.
The show was very fun. Â We loved the fire portion and the atmosphere of the dancers.
Overall we were very pleased with our experience and would tell anyone who decides to go to be willing to try everything because if you don't like it there is no foul.
Aloha!
