Man...I LOVE Bardessono, but I'm totally bummed that Lucy just doesn't match up. We came here for breakfast on our last day, since the BF was getting tired of eating pastries from Bouchon Bakery for breakfast every morning (which is ridiculous!). We were the only party there since it was still fairly early. I ordered a duck confit hash and the BF ordered the eggs Benedict. When the food came, my dish was great, but the BF's food was cold. Didn't seem like they even put it under a heat lamp. The sauce was cold, the egg was cold. The BF is not happy at this point. He ended up really liking the toast from my plate, so he asked the waiter for some more. Fast forward a bit, and obviously the waiter totally forgot about the toast. The BF asked nicely again, and yep, waiter totally forgot. He literally ran back to the kitchen and came back out with the toast. And it's also cold. It's obviously been toasted, but probably cold because it was forgotten. *sigh* I had to talk the BF down so he doesn't get upset, because he felt like with the price we're paying, the service should be better. I got us out of there with the tempers under control, but it's not likely we'll come back to the restaurant again, even if we're staying in the hotel.
Review Source:3.5 overall: 2.5 on food; 4 on service; 5 for outdoor landscaping (stunning Japanese-inspired design!). If you want to dine outdoors, there are few lovelier places than Lucy's patio area. Note they are dog-friendly, if anyone is allergic.
Like Redd, to which Lucy is often compared, the food is somewhat flawed. Some dishes are good, some aren't. We find hotel service to be generally superior (not that the service bar in the Bay Area is especially high, mind you) to the usual cheerful but not-really-professional waitstaff in tourist areas, and we were certainly pleased by Lucy's service.
Lunch is a limited menu, mostly sandwiches. We had:
- Crab salad, served warm in a Thai green coconut curry sauce. Spouse thought it was good, nothing amazing. I thought the sauce was a little harsh. It wasn't that spicy - some of the green curry pastes can literally blow the top of your head off - so either it needed a bit more coconut cream, or more likely an overnight sit to mellow out the spice blend. I thought it would have been a better sauce for fish, instead of sweet Dungeness, which was overwhelmed.
- Beet salad, a terrific plate heaped with red, yellow, and Chiogga beets. All were young, either halved or quartered, dressed lightly with banyuls vinaigrette, and topped with a few sprigs of baby watercress. The beets were simply roasted, then lightly dressed with that mild vinaigrette. Great ingredients are always better treated gently and with respect. If you're a beet lover as we are, this was a winner, in a sizable portion that is enough for two people to share.
- Lamb Panini. A generously filled panini, spread on one side with black olive tapenade and on the other with a horseradish aioli. Some mixed baby greens, with nice spicy little radish leaves in the mix, were on top of the lamb. The lamb was done to a medium with a nice hint of pink, then sliced into an amazingly tender, juicy filling. Unfortunately, the bread is too dense and when pressed, makes this much too bready, turning it bland despite the spreads.
- Reuben sliders. Small dome-topped housemade rye buns, spread with Russian dressing. Really fine, juicy pastrami was cut thick but was still fork-tender. The kick of sauerkraut was just right, and the Swiss melted generously over the meat and kraut was divine. Spouse's only criticism was that by the time he got to the second mini, it was a bit too much bread for him. But that pastrami - LOVED IT!
Sides were variable. Housemade potato chips were wonderful. Sweet potato fries were awful; thin shreds like shavings. Greasy, overfried, hard to pick up and just as hard to eat, with little flavor except oil and burned edges, they were of little interest when eaten alone, nor did they add any interest to the panini.
Desserts sounded ordinary; we ended with cappuccinos. Blend was Peet's Garuda, very nice, good foam, very very slight excess of grounds but not enough to send them back.
On this trip we had lunch at both Redd and Lucy. We would return to Lucy before we would go back to Redd (although Etoile beats everybody, LOL).
Each time I visit Yountville I stop in for a drink at the bar here. Some places you go for the drinks and sacrifice setting, and  sometimes its the other way around. At Lucy there is no sacrifice. Sit inside at the bar, or out in the beautiful courtyard, wherever you prefer.
My first visit, a few years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Brady, one of the bar managers. He was very attentive and helpful, even though we quizzed him each drink's ingredients, his preferences, and his recommendations. We loved the dark and stormy so much that he wrote down the recipe for us.
On our most recent visit, Brady was working, and my mother-in-law happen to have the recipe in her wallet. Once again, he was awesome, and made one of his signature cocktails for us to try. It was very busy, but he made the time to shoot this shit with us for a few... the kind of service and personality that will keep me coming back.
I'm very confused as to why this place has 4 stars. The hostess was way too cool to be nice to the likes of us, we were not spoken to for at least 15 mins (had to ask the kind buser for our waiter), I could have made a better omelet for for much less than $18 dollars, my cocktail tasted like soap, and you could cut the pretension like a knife.
The best part of a meal should not be the interesting salt on the butter that is sever with the free bread...
**Update, after writing "Overall Disappointing" on the receipt, someone from Lucy's called me to discuss my experience. Â She thanked me for my feedback and refunded the entire meal. Â This was a very classy move and much appreciated. Â For that, they get 2 stars.
While my better half was taking a nap after a day fueled with wine tastings, I decided to take a stroll over to Lucy's for their happy hour. The bar area is sleek and modern, with a few individual high top tables and some stools at the bar, as well as outdoor seating in a serene looking small courtyard. I opted for the bar as happy hour was almost over and I wanted to get my order in.
Happy Hour at Lucy's runs Mo-Thu from 4.30-6.30pm. All bottled beers and wines by the glass are half off, select spirits are $7 and the appetizers priced from $10-$12 are all half off. A large chalkboard displayed some of their wine and cocktail offerings.
The Pepino Fresco sounded too refreshing to pass up (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lucy-restaurant-and-bar-yountville-2?select=Ofklsv8ZPjfabVX5zSKglg#Ofklsv8ZPjfabVX5zSKglg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) - crop organic cucumber vodka, lemon, cucumber juice, simple syrup, soda. I loved how well the cucumber flavor was represented in this drink and the simple syrup was used very light, so there was only the slightest hint of sweetness.
Being a soup freak, I had to try the Little Farms Sunchoke Soup (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lucy-restaurant-and-bar-yountville-2?select=Ofklsv8ZPjfabVX5zSKglg#rNc7xjOD3MzLbiWcVbNhDQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) with marche truffle, creme fraiche, k&j apples, and chervil. The soup was heavenly creamy and very rich, truly representing the sunchoke flavor and the creme fraiche added a nice sour touch, whereas the apples brought some sweetness to the dish. This soup was amazing!
Since we still had dinner coming up later in the evening, I decided to only go with one more appetizer and that one just had to be the Liberty Duck Confit Mac-n-Cheese (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lucy-restaurant-and-bar-yountville-2?select=Ofklsv8ZPjfabVX5zSKglg#IPTFUSHa1FKLJGDsm1J15Q">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) with fontina and gruyere cheese and lemon thyme. Juicy large chunks of hearty duck nestled in toothsome macaroni pasta and covered in oozing cheese - absolute foodgasm! The portion was huge for an appetizer and I ended up taking half of it to-go back to the hotel where the fiance happily enjoyed the rest.
The bartenders were very friendly and checked in with me regularly. So why 4 stars instead of 5? Because it took forever to get my food. And with forever I mean so long that the bartenders told me about 3-4 times that the food would only be another few minutes and kept going into the kitchen to check on the status. They even ended up comping my cocktail as a way of apologizing for the long wait. I'm not entirely sure why it took so long as happy hour was over at this point and not many people were left in the bar area and I doubt that the dining room was overly busy since it was early on in the evening.
Regardless of my wait, I thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the food and drinks here and would come back fore more happy hour in a heartbeat!
I have yet to do a full meal at LUCY but I have stopped in for drink several times. This time we caught their happy hour!
I always recommend a signature cocktail, they use great local ingredients and have really fun presentation.
A beautiful atmosphere and just down the street from work puts this place over the top for me.
Hands down, my favorite high end dining experience in Napa! Went last Fall, but still revel in the memory of it. No where comes close to the farm to table quality, artistry in presentation and ultimately, dining experience. My taste buds want to go back, and they will! The selection and creative blending of ingredients and flavors is so utterly refined, and perfectly proportioned. My friend and I had the LUCY GARDEN TRIO, MAINE LOBSTER RISOTTO, LIBERTY FARM DUCK, & DON WATSON MILK FED LAMB. Best restaurant in Napa Valley... hands down! You will NOT be disappointed!
Review Source:Had the opportunity to enjoy this restaurant with a large group as part of a conference. Excellent meal (the other reviewers were not kidding about the lobster risotto) and even better service (especially dreamy Kyle with the super hot scar). Really good way to spend my last evening in the Napa Valley. Being from LA I am no stranger to excellent restaurants and the single criticism that I have is that the deserts were lacking in both selection and execution. Fortunately I was stuffed and didn't mind just having a few disappointing bites from other plates. Last comment is on the crazy cool bathrooms with the Toto bidets and individual compartments. The whole place has an awesome vibe. Will return next time I'm in town.
Review Source:The best thing about this place was the bathrooms.
Expensive, with completely average food. Â I cannot see going back.
Carrot salad was good not great.
I had the lunch Sole. Â Average.
Kids had Pork Sandwich (which sounded awesome) it was average, and lamb sandwich. Â
Wish we'd skipped the "trying something new" and gone to Redd instead.
Best lobster risotto I've ever had. Â If I had knew, I would have ordered two for my entree. Â Super rich and flavorful but not overwhelming. Â Perfect al dente on the arborio rice. Â
Everything else was on point too. Â
fresh oysters - beau soleil
carrot salad from their own garden
Black bass, sake braised shortribs and antelope chop.
3 desserts - forgot what they were because was pretty buzzed by then. Â but no complaints.
again we had the lobster risotto as an appetizer and ordered the small portion. Â NO NO NO...I could have two of the large portions, damn it...next time...
Fantastic service by Eddie!
Disappointed! I was excited to finally make it to Lucy recently.
The restaurant was empty - the host told us that they are never really busy cause it's mainly hotel guests....the service guy was nice but a little stiff for my taste.
Anyways...I was thrilled to see that they had the full brunch menu available on a holiday (MLK Day). On paper - everything looked just fantastic. I had a hard time to decide and ended up ordering the Sunchocke Soup and the Crab Cake with Slaw.
The soup was nice - I cannot complain...it was smooth and tasty - not too salty, topped with a little creme fraiche and julienne of black truffle...nice - not to die for, but nice.
Then came the crab cake and i was just shocked: in front of me was a plate that had a fried rectangular patty, topped with some slivers of raw slaw and on the side of the plate was a bundle of taro root chips (which I normally like)
The "crab cake" patty was greasy and there was hardly any crab meat - so it was just "something" fried...and the chips were so greasy and not really crunchy (some were, but the rest stuck together - half raw and (did I mention) greasy).
This was NOT what I expected from a restaurant that gets all awards and recognition in food magazines etc.
I will not go back...there are so many other good places to eat in Wine Country
Stayed at Bardessono recently and wanted to have dinner in town. Â A quick walk around Yountville convinced us that most businesses really do shut down the first week of January around here.
Since our first two choices of restaurant were closed for annual cleaning, we "settled" for Lucy, the restaurant on the Bardessono grounds. I'm embarrassed that I though Lucy's would be a run-of-the-mill hotel restaurant.
We were greeted warmly, wait-staff (Eddie) was attentive and knowledgeable. He could basically explain how to make each dish, he could describe the differences between game birds and the wines that worked with each dish.
When I ordered a wine I recognized on the menu, he brought out a small glass, along with a glass of a cabernet franc, which he suggested I try because it was unique and went well with the dish I'd ordered. Â I was impressed and chose the cab franc. We each only ordered a single dish, but the chef sent out extra dishes with his compliments.
Maybe it was a slow night, maybe the chef was trying out some new recipes on us, but it was like the food just kept coming out. And each dish was amazing. After having previously been let down and a little disappointed at more than one of the big name restaurants in Napa Valley in the past, I was impressed to have such a well rounded and beautifully presented meal in a quiet place tucked in to the Bardessono. A well laid cheese service was icing on the cake.
Lucy should be on your must-visit list for a trip to Napa valley. Â Stop in for happy hour at the bar before your food and check out their whiskey selection...
Style over substance. Sizzle but not enough steak.
Lucy is good but there is so much, much, much better in Yountville. The interior is super trendy as if you were walking into a New York nightclub. The ingredients are fancy and presented in a compelling way but the food itself falls short. The flavors don't marry together well, the portions are small, the prices are high.
Do yourself a favor and plan ahead. Get reservations at any of the other amazing restaurants around town. Yountville is teeming with mind-blowing food. Don't dine at the pricey hotel and go on a foodie adventure instead.
The service, from everyone, was lovely.
The food was very good, but not great. Â
- Four course fixed price meal on Christmas ($75/per), which they didn't tell us when they made the reservation. Â We probably would have eaten there anyway, given limited options on Christmas, but four courses is a lot of food! Â Luckily, they were accommodating about sending dessert to our room. The best thing for me was the crab salad - it was surprisingly warm, with soft buttery flavor set off with bits of citrus. Â My husband enjoyed his prime rib - I tried it and it was good. Â The sole was perfectly cooked (crispy surface, but still moist), but the entree lacked flavor. Â Served with apples and potatoes, it was sadly uninteresting.
The restaurant decor is actually not as notable as you would think (the grounds are beautiful - elegant and artistic), but the community table in the middle of the front dining room is an interesting concept.
With very good - not great - food averaging around $30/entree, this place is "A-OK!"
I wish we hadn't made so many uncancelable dinner reservations before we discovered Lucy! I would love to go there for dinner some day. What we did get was a superbly prepared breakfast one morning and an awesome charcuterie platter and carrot salad for an afternoon snack the day after. I love that they grow a lot of the greens and herbs in the hotel garden. In fact, everything in the carrot salad came from there! The cured meats and hams were equally amazing! Best selection I've had anywhere! Paired perfectly with two kinds of mustards and a little stack of puckeringly sour cornichons. Yum!
The staff was very friendly and attentive. A lot like chatting with old friends. In fact, at breakfast, I liked the service so much, I actually kept eating and ordering food 'til lunchtime!
My roommate's mother and cousin were visiting from out-of-the-country and out-of-town, respectively, so she invited me to grab dinner with them in wine country. Â As you walk in, you can tell Lucy is a fancy place -- the decor was gorgeous and the waitstaff was incredibly hospitable.
We walked in starving, so we immediately ordered and decided to split a few dishes amongst the 4 of us: 1. Warm Dungeness Crab Salad, 2. Maine Diver Scallops, 3. House-made Pasta, and 4. the Rhode Island Black Bass. Â As soon as the dishes came out and the crab salad was less of a salad and more of a Thai curry and crab appetizer, we decided to add the Lucy Garden Trio to our order.
The crab salad was good -- as I usually am not a fan of Thai curries (due to the coconut milk), I only had a bite of this, but the crab was cooked well and the rest of the table seemed to enjoy it.
The Black Bass was well-cooked, but perhaps a little lacking in seasoning, which is surprising given my next point. Â The other dishes -- the scallop and the pasta -- were incredibly overseasoned/very salty. Â The scallops were practically inedible, although we did enjoy the lentils that it came with. Â We all love scallops, but we were trying to pawn the last ones off on each other.
I liked the Lucy Garden Trio -- refreshing and light, exactly what we wanted when we ordered a salad, but it's not completely meant to be split -- there were only small portions of each type of salad.
Overall, there are a ton of dining options in this area -- especially of the fine dining variety, and the food underwhelmed me a lot. Â I think they are fairly new(?) so maybe they'll eventually find their groove and cook more consistent (and good) food.
The downfalls of this restaurant are not the food and not the wait staff but more the ambiance and the HIGHLY over priced menu. The restaurant is not what you expect when you are dining in the cozy Napa Valley. The restaurant is in a "modern" , sleek, hotel and has more of a hip Vegas, stiff, cold feel to it. This is NOT what we were expecting when dining in the cozy Napa Valley. However, the back patio looked like a nice place to dine or have a drink. We also thought the price point of our dishes were just too high for a new launching restaurant.
Overall, the actual dinner experience at Lucy was not bad. The wait staff was very friendly and informative on wine selections and food pairings. The sourdough bread was fresh and creamy butter was a nice way to start off our meal. We started with the dungeness crab salad in curry sauce. ($19). Â A small portion for the price. The curry was creamy, flavorful and not spicy. The salad was a unique combination and wanted us having more. Our main courses were the sea bass with an assortment of vegetables. ($37 ! ) The sea bass was moist with a nice crispy skin. The downfall of the dish was the underlying vegetables. The vegetables tasted pickled because they were marinated way too much in balsamic vinegar. Fresh vegetables would have been perfect. Lastly we shared the duck.($35 !). The duck was from a local farm in Sonoma. It was cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful and had a nice crisp skin on it. The potatoes and veggies were decent sides.
There are just too many other comfortable, less expensive great places to eat in the area to go back again.
I have a theory that all the new restaurants in napa / yountville, rutherford, etc. have union meetings to make sure they all use the same decor and font on their menus.
Rule 1 - No capitalizing first letters in your menu or placard with your restaurant name
Rule 2 - Â Thou must have a garden in the back of your restaurant where you grow organic fresh vegetables for your kitchen is as necessary as a bathroom for your patrons. And you must mention this on your menu
Rule 3 - Waiters must appear attentive yet also seem so busy they will only come by to make sure they can justify a 15-18% gratuity.
So onto my review... We came to this place for brunch instead of Redd due to a recommendation from one of the staff at Clos du Val. Â She said it was one of the best values in Yountville, and I have to say, it was a good experience. Â The restaurant is located in a "green" hotel, so I guess everything is solar powered or something. Â Walking through the hotel and restaurant, you feel like you are in a luxurious resort in the Mediterranean. Lunch menu was simple fare with small portions. Â I guess value here is like saying buying a diet coke at the gas station is better value than buying it in a vending machine. Â Maybe only i would understand that analogy, but I actually think it's genius. Â
Anyway, would come here again. Â Cute garden decor and great for outdoor dining.
Omg!!! This place is just too amazing!!! I love the modern chic decor and the cleanliness. The outdoor patio is simply the best. It is a green building (LEED) so it has all these great features. One of them being the super cool toilets, yep, it said toilets!!! They are multi function and have jets, air dryer, etc. so cool!!!
Now the most important, the food. It is simply super fresh and tasty. Super good!
Didn't like the fact the restaurant show complete and then we went for drink and it was totally empty, they were able to sit us all and we were 5 people. And still during the dinner later, there was still plenty of empty tables, not sure why. Thank God we went for drinks, otherwise we would have missed it!
Will definitely go back!
Service was great. Food was just OK.
The cappuccinos were good even if it came in a stained mug. (see photo)
The place is gorgeous as is the hotel it's in.
I would love to try it again for dinner. The outside seating could be glorious with all that fabulous Yountville weather. It overlooks the stunning Bardessono courtyard area. If we stay here again I will definitely give them another try.
They have a small set up in the morning with coffee and croissants. Nothing fancy, just something to get you going I guess.
Maybe I was expecting more because of it's location?
I love Bardessono. Â Their restaurant, Lucy used to be extraordinarily fantastic. Â They have a new chef and they are cutting corners and Lucy is no longer special. Â The food tastes the same as if you were at any other nice hotel: bland and blah. Â
Please, Please bring back the organic, flavorful dishes. Â Why did you remodel the perfectly nice decor???? Â You wasted so much money trying to make the place look hip and now you aren't spending money on fantastic ingredients. Â Please hire back your former wait staff. Â Carin is awesome and the back bone of your staff. Â However, the rest of your team needs coaching. Â Bardessono deserves better.
I love Lucy's. Â It must still be a hidden gem, because reservations seem to come easy. Â But, wow, the food, wine list and service are awesome! Â Everything is fresh and local - a true field-to-fork experience (which pairs well with the eco-friendliness of the hotel). Â I've never had a less than stellar dish. Â I also love the ambiance - the main room is chic and exciting, the bar is hip and cool and the outdoor area is romantic and wonderful. Â Big fan!
Review Source:Fantastic place for brunch in Yountville with great portion sizes. I was full after a rather heaping appetizer (shrimp cocktail salad) and brunch entree (turkey benedict).
The patio dining area is gorgeous and overlooks the modernist chic courtyard of Bardessono with its rock pools and water sculptures. Â It's a lovely place to enjoy a meal and cocktails outside with friends, and has great service to boot.
Aaaand don't forget to check out the restrooms. They were fun, if ever restrooms could be fun. =)
I had dinner at Lucy's with a friend after hearing just average comments about this restaurant. Well, I was pleasantly surprised!
Many popular restaurants in the area leave you exhausted from straining to be heard and having to yell for the same reason. Lucy's while crowded, provides an atmosphere where you can enjoy those that you are with without finding your self in a shouting match with the other customers.
And the food! We had fun and shared many dishes including the Sumer Squash Salad, Wild King Salmon (our favorite dish!), the Maine Diver Scallops and yes, Foie Gras!, all of which were delightful!
Another important part of any meal is the staff, all of which we found attentive but not overly so and helpful in giving us selection ideas in our dinner sharing journey.
Enjoy!
4/8/2012 @ 6pm with special someone.

This place gets it!!! I can tell you that it will take advanced reservations soon. I had the short ribs and asked for a side of fries... I know, but I had to have them!! The short ribs were fantastic. Rivals some of the best in Yountville. Great service and the waiter Eddie was great.. Whoever hired him, you better watch the other establishments. He has IT and that's hard to find. Keep it going and thanks for a great night. Our party can't stop talking about the night.
Review Source:Let me just start by saying that using their bathroom is a complete pleasure. Â The toilet seat is warm, you're very clean when you leave. Â Just an FYI. Â If you go here and don't use the restroom, you're missing out. Â Oh yeah, and the food is good, too.
A group of 10 of us had brunch here on a Saturday and everyone enjoyed it. Â The ambiance is great, very modern but comfortable. Â Our server was attentive and the bussers (back waiters?) kept everything very nice and clean during our time there. Â
We started with the beignets which are made with potato flour. Â They came with 3 sauces - chocolate, caramel and blood orange (if I remember correctly). Â The flavor was great, who can say no to a yummy donut, but I thought they were a bit heavy. Â The sauces were yummy. Â We also had the pate/charcuterie platter which was delicious.
On to the best part of the meal. Â I ordered the duck confit hash which was absolutely to die for. Â The flavor was out of this world. Â Unfortunately I had contracted with my boyfriend to split our meals 50/50 so I had to give mine up before I wanted to. Â He ordered the eggs benedict. Â Here's my question: Â when there are so many good bacon choices out there, why put turkey bacon on a benedict? Â Just wondering... Â Anyway, the bread on the benedict (maybe a homemade English muffin) was a bit dry and bland for my taste, but the eggs were cooked nicely and the hollandaise was good. Â I was still lusting over my hash and trying to steal bites.
We had a great experience here overall. Â Our server (can't remember his name but he had a slight southern accent) was really knowledgeable and friendly. Â We would definitely come back to Lucy's, and we all want to stay on property next time we're in Napa!
This place is amazing! We actually had intentions of meeting at etoile, but it was a Tuesday afternoon, unfortunately they were closed, so we headed on over to Bardessano Hotel for lunch at Lucy's. Now I haven't tried the first place, but why we didn't go straight to Lucy's is beyond me! I was in awe from the moment we walked in, to the bathroom and back, while we were seated and even after we left!
The waitstaff went over the top to make sure we were happy and served with the up-most care and concern. He seriously went out of his way--throughout our whole dining experience and even matched up a wine pairing perfectly with the dish!
We ordered some of their farm-fresh, strictly seasonal delights. The menu is constantly changing according to whats local, seasonal and available-- I love it! Gives me more of a reason to return for more!
I had the Housemade Pasta--Joseph's best whole wheat flour, wild mushrooms, kale, truffle nage
It was a small portion and wonderful-- I could taste the sage leaves, olive oil and fresh ingredients in every bite. The pasta is whole wheat-- al dente and filling. Wild mushrooms were the perfect accompaniment. I'm salivating right now-- telling you about it. YUM!
Alright, alright-- I have to tell you about the restrooms-- there is no way I'm going to skip this in my review--
For the first time in my life, I saw a public toilet that greeted me as soon as I walked in the door (seriously!) It opens when you walk in due to a sensor on it... it's warm (heated) and will even rinse you after-- front or back, or both? You decide. These fancy toilets should be every where-- or at least every where that I go. Once you've had the best? How could you ever go back?
When we left- we got our car out of the complimentary valet parking (which may only be available during the day/ mid week.)
We also got the story of the name behind the restaurant-- It's the name of one of the first Bardessano family members that got off the boat from Europe. Not too interesting-- but that's why it's called Lucy's if you were wondering!
Service- Food- Atmosphere (and restrooms) are AMAZING here. And once again another Eco-Friendly hotel and restaurant. Gotta love em' for that. If you are anywhere remotely close to this place-- don't even think about passing it by!
I'm so excited to write this review! Â For those of you visiting from out of town don't let the "restaurant in a hotel" turn you off. Lucy's should on everyone's list whether visiting the valley or a resident like myself. Â
We began our adventure at Lucy by grabbing drinks at the bar and wandering out to the beautifully heated patio. Â The patio is tranquil, has wonderfully comfortable couches, Â and if you are a pet owner - bring your pooch too. Â This place is pet friendly and offers outdoor seating for dinner.
We headed into the restaurant after about an hour on the patio - completely ready for our next adventure. Â The service was excellent. Â Billie our server was as good as any server at French Laundry! His knowledge of the ingredients, how things were prepared and his personal recommendations were perfect for our pallets. Â
The menu is divided into 3 sections: Â Garden, Ocean and Range - offering organic and local ingredients. Â For appetizers we chose Creamy Pea Soup and Warm Dungeness Crab Salad. Â The crab salad was so tasty that we asked the server what the ingredients were. Â He surprised us with the recipe before we left the restaurant - saying that it took the chef 30 minutes to put pen to paper! Â How thoughtful is this? Â Our entrees - Joseph's best whole wheat flour, wild mushrooms, Â kale, and truffle (perfect for the vegetarian) and Halibut were also wonderful. Â The portions are generous - and will leave you feeling satisfied. Â
There are so many other things I could tell you about this experience - but I try to limit myself to only a few paragraphs. Â You'll have to check it our for yourself!!
Chef Victor Scargle - you are truly a master at the art of creating foods that leave your quests very pleased! Â We've found a new favorite restaurant! Â Thank you!
My husband and I had dinner here last night, and the food and service was wonderful. Â Our concierge had called ahead of time to ask if any menu items were vegan, and someone had mistakenly told her that the whole-wheat pasta dish was. Â Our waiter was very knowledgeable about all the menu items and knew that there was egg in the pasta. Â The chef made me a buckwheat noodle, mushroom, greens, and some-kind-of-delicious sauce that was completely off-menu. Â I greatly appreciate their willingness to accomodate me.
In addition to that I had the carrot salad, which was also delicious and the touch of curry makes it unique. Â My husband had the ubuntu salad and the chicken dish and says they were wonderful.
The sommelier helped us pick out a great wine based not only on the food we ordered, but also on all the wineries we had been to and what we already drank all day!
I am looking forward to our next visit.
My husband and I set out for lunch and came across this place, we knew it was new but figured to give it a try anyway. Â It as a very zen, lots of wood modern feel to it, but not cheap, everything is nice and well made, definitely took time and planning to design it.
The service was great, they try hard and it shows.
The carrot salad was amazing, from their garden and the taste showed the freshness, the curry was a nice touch.
My husband had the ahi burger and I had the lamb casolette. Â The burger was great, tuna was just right, but the bun was a bit on the thick side and it was a bit too spicy so the flavor was off. Â The chips on the side were greasy and not crunchy, they need to fix this.
The lamb was amazing, French country comfort food, great presentation, flavor and the portion was just right. Â The picked onions and pepper were also great to cut the richness and give some nice freshness to the palette.
Even though we had no room for dessert, they brought us chocolate brownie and ice cream, the brownie was moist, rich and so chocolaty, the ice cream was home made and so great. Â Which the dessert was rich, it was also small so you weren't full after eating it. Â
I'm sure the brunch and dinner here are great too.
Lucy, recently reopened after an efficient remodel of the dining room, still impresses.
The menu follows the same concept as the old place, and delivers on its promise of exquisite food expertly prepared from fresh local ingredients.
The space is improved, with somehow more of a connection to the lovely courtyard yet at the same time more privacy for the two and four tops.
There is something for everyone here; cocktails, wine list, and tasting menu concept make it likely to be a memorable dining experience for anyone who dines here.
Bardessono did some remodeling recently, and part of that remodeling was creating their newly named and redesigned restaurant, Lucy.
With a very flavorful and organic menu, we easily made our choices for lunch after a late check out of our room. Â I went with the garden chicory salad (smokey blue cheese, citrus walnut vinaigrette, spiced candied walnuts, orchard pears), and opted to add grilled chicken to it for some protein... or else my stomach would be growling at me in less than an hour. :/ Â My hubby had the masami ranch burger made with kobe beef and pickled vegetables, served with a side of shoe string herbed fries.
I also indulged in their signature Redrum cocktail. Rum, blood orange, lemon, vanilla, and whipped egg whites, plus a pretty dang cool 'Lucy' logo sprinkled on top (check out the pic!). Â This drink is sure to impress!! Â He chose to sip on an "Early to Rise" cocktail, made with rye whiskey, earl grey infused sweet vermouth, cherries, grapefruit & peychauds bitters. Â
All in all we got out of there for about $75 for everything including tip. Â About par for what you'd expect to pay at a place like this. Everything was prepared with great detail and was super fresh and tasty. Â Awesome place for lunch or dinner!
