The food was superb! And the service and the atmosphere was excellent too. We will definitely go back again.

Definite signs of cost-cutting, but skill in the kitchen makes this still a worthwhile stop, IF you can afford it. The price is higher than you think, but the quality of ingredients and friendly service make it worthwhile.

Breakfast for inn guests needs to be reserved at a specific time. For both breakfast and dinner, you get a $14 credit. The breakfast chef is very skilled - the eggs are never the least bit browned, even on the omelets! There are very few breakfast places anywhere where the short-order cooks are that skillful.

Note that dining room is small and can be noisy when full. Tomato bisque made with their own canned tomatoes was very good. Duck liver pate was superb, not super-rich and thus full of intense liver goodness. Filet mignon was superb, as were its accompaniments.

My rack of lamb was tasty but cooked medium, not the medium-rare I'd ordered. Great sauce, too. But the lavender popover and dried cherry salad were pedestrian sides.

We found the dessert list too diner-like. The brandied cherry mascarpone souffle was good but it should be noted the chocolate sauce is sweet dark chocolate. I'm a bittersweet fan all the way, so I found this much too sugary for my taste. My DH liked it, however.

Coffee is the local Thanksgiving brand, one of our long-time favs. Service was a little slow (DR was full) but thorough; all the staff at MacCallum are top-notch professionals.

It's a nice place with good food, and they're good at all the little things.  If you go for breakfast, try the home made pork sausage.  I will never order bacon instead of it again.  It's that good.
