Heard that Mac's reopened and was excited to go try. Was a little on the disappointed side. BBQ sauce is too runny. Meat was on the dry side. The proportions of the ribs were small. The only positive comment I have is that the wait staff are friendly and constantly asking if we needed anything. Wished we would've spent our money on down the road.

Great food and service. Brisket and ribs were delicious. And of course, I'll always support Red Raiders. Wreck 'Em!

Driving through enroute to New Mexico, stopped here, what a great find.
There were 3 of us and had a bbq sandwich with side and drink.  Great pricing, wonderful food.  The bread in the brisket sandwich is one of those sweet tasting giving it an added flavor.  They suggeted a Mac & Cheese side which was out of the ordinary, if you like jalapeno flavored, but not too spicy, select this.  Their fries are real potatoes, not just a frozen type.
I am telling you everything was YUM!!!
The place is very clean and their staff is watching carefully to ensure everything is picked up after.  The cook, or Chef, or owner came out to meet with us and verified everything was good and see if we needed anything else.  In speaking to the owner, we suggested a selection of cobblers.  He did say they have some bread pudding that is real good, but we were already stuffed.

Yes, this place is under new management and not knowing what it was previously like, I can only say, NOW IT IS VERY GOOD.

Under new ownership and they have fixed the place up real nice. I ate there a couple of times last weekend. Had brisket and ribs Friday night and they were very good. I had a hamburger on Saturday and it was also very good. Will be eating there every chance I get.

Having lived in Brady you could not go without Mac's BBQ, one of the best barbeque places I have ever eaten. Located in the 'Heart of Texas,' you'll find this little family owned restaurant serving up some of the best chopped beef around. The chopped beef bun is 'massive,' I have yet to find a place in Austin that serves up such a delicious mouth-watering meal. I can't comment much on the other menu items as I'm not a big ole bbq fan, but they do offer items aside from barbeque! It's fairly inexpensive, they offer take-out and I have always received upstanding customer service from the staff. You won't regret stopping in and having lunch or dinner; a heads up though--don't try to go on a Sunday, it's packed!

Located a few blocks south of the Brady downtown, this seems to be a popular stop.  I ordered the 2-meat ($9) platter of smoked chicken (out of turkey) and sausage.  The sausage was average but the chicken was very good on favor and moistness. I substituted cole slaw for the potato salad and both the slaw and beans were winners.  Service was OK with one overworked waitress who also ran the front register.  Beer was available.  The decor was 1950's knotty pine.

Best yummy melt in your mouth brisket I have had since we moved to Texas in June (and I have tried a lot of BBQ all over central Tex).  Sadly, hubby ordered a steak...it took an hour to get our meal and the steak wasn't good.  But, the girls admitted they didn't really know how to cook steak and compt us. So, that was nice. My sides were the wrong order but I was so hungry by then I just didn't say anything.  The mayo potato salad is like mush with no flavor and the beans were boring.  The fries are great and hubby got a huge order so he shared with me and it was plenty.  I ordered Extra brisket to go...for lunch the next day....it was still the best the next day. I would give Macs a higher rating if the service had been better.

I liked this one. The meats are Bbq'd over a wood fire for all to see.
The first time here I had a burger which was larger than I expected but hey, this is TX right?
The next visit I had a meal that had 3 different kinds of meat. It had brisket, sausage and chicken. Hoy! Plus, it came with potato choice, cole slaw, yes, and bread. How could any human every eat that much? It covered a turkey platter!   Awesome!  Here's the amazing part. $13.00 for the meal! I recommend this place If you want a true wood fired Bbq from Texas and casual family like seating.

We went in a little past lunch time and although we were the only patrons, our waitress was never around. We both ordered sliced beef sandwiches and were both given chopped beef. It looked like it had been run through a food processor and was the consistency of baby food.

This was a pass through town stop for us, but I'd like to save any future travelers.

This was a mixed experience for me. The brisket and ham were both very good with a unique spicy sauce. The ribs were overcooked, dry and not very good.

I have reviewed a couple of BBQ places on my yelp.  However, Mac's is the best EVER!!! So, if you are ever in the middle of nowhere Texas (basically the dead middle of the state) go here and nowhere else!  Great BBQ sauce, great brisket and good sides!  I ate here the entire week!
