We visited the Madison Inn for one of the Wine tasting events. Â We thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting and the food that accompanied each wine. Â The cost of the wine tasting and food was a bargain! Â The wait staff served the course with each wine without hurrying us or making us wait. Â The sommine was very personal and has a story for each wine served. We all enjoyed this very much.
The waitress showed us the dinner menu and the early bird specials. We all looked at them and decided to stay and try the food for dinner also. Â I have never really been impressed with early bird specials since they always seemed to be something left over or a smaller portion of the regular meal. Â For $15.00 getting a salad, chicken cordon blue with potatoes and vegetables and dessert seemed very cheap. Â We all were impressed not only the portion size but of the quality of the food. The Chicken Cordon Blue was excellent. Â We were so full from our dinner we were going to pass on dessert but the waitress insisted to put dessert in a to go box for us, since we were paying for it!! Imagine that! Â
We look forward going back to The Madison Inn and take some more of our family and friends.
This is a solid spot for lunch or dinner, and pretty much the only place of its kind in Madison. I'd tend to choose the simpler dishes on the menu (chicken instead of salmon, for instance), but with that said, I've certainly had several good meals here and would recommend it to anyone looking for something more upscale than the rest of the Madison eateries.
