We visited the Madison Inn for one of the Wine tasting events.  We thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting and the food that accompanied each wine.  The cost of the wine tasting and food was a bargain!  The wait staff served the course with each wine without hurrying us or making us wait.  The sommine was very personal and has a story for each wine served. We all enjoyed this very much.

The waitress showed us the dinner menu and the early bird specials. We all looked at them and decided to stay and try the food for dinner also.  I have never really been impressed with early bird specials since they always seemed to be something left over or a smaller portion of the regular meal.  For $15.00 getting a salad, chicken cordon blue with potatoes and vegetables and dessert seemed very cheap.  We all were impressed not only the portion size but of the quality of the food. The Chicken Cordon Blue was excellent.  We were so full from our dinner we were going to pass on dessert but the waitress insisted to put dessert in a to go box for us, since we were paying for it!! Imagine that!

We look forward going back to The Madison Inn and take some more of our family and friends.

After dropping our daughter at soccer camp we went looking for a place to have lunch.  We are very happy we found the Madison Inn.  Food and service are excellent.

This is a solid spot for lunch or dinner, and pretty much the only place of its kind in Madison. I'd tend to choose the simpler dishes on the menu (chicken instead of salmon, for instance), but with that said, I've certainly had several good meals here and would recommend it to anyone looking for something more upscale than the rest of the Madison eateries.

Great restaurant!  Great food!  Stop by when you have a chance and save room for dessert.  Their cupcakes are FABULOUS!   The Sunday Brunch is a MUST for anyone looking for a great breakfast/lunch on the weekend.

This place is worth a drive to enjoy.  We stopped in on Friday evening, after a leisurely day of wandering the surrounding area and visiting a local winery. I had read good things about the Madison Inn and wanted to see if it was as good as I'd heard.

I'll mention the "vegetable of the day" first, because that is usually not a highlight of a meal, but in this case the broccoli, carrots and squash or zucchini were done to perfection - not overcooked, slight crunch, and quite tasty.

The wine selection includes some very good local and non-local picks, by the glass or bottle, and you can't beat the bottle prices - $15.00 for the Montpelier Pinot Noir.

The mushroom empanadas, with a nice flaky crust, and sautéed portabellas with parmesan polenta were the appetizers we chose - must have been in a mushroom mood, and both were great.   The Steak Diane was a special and ordered medium rare, which is exactly how it came - melt in the mouth good. The rosemary potatoes were another perfect side - slightly crispy skin and creamy on the inside. The other entree was pan-fried panko-coated local trout, which I didn't get to try but was told it was wonderful.

The desert cakes, triple chocolate and the lemon white chocolate, were as good as the rest of the meal, as was the follow up cup of coffee.

The service was great, unhurried and efficient.

Take a trip to the area and enjoy the scenery, apple picking,  trout fishing, hiking (White Oak Canyon or the Rapidan Wildlife Management Area), Graves Mountain, and local wineries (DuCard for a surprising Virginia port-style wine, C'est Trops!), then stop in here for a wonderful, inexpensive, and fun meal. You'll be glad you did.

What a treat!  If you are traveling 29 south towards UVA or Waynesboro - make it a point to stop here for lunch/dinner.  Our lunch was marvelous, gazpacho which was fresh and chunky, tuna wrap was mosit and flavorful, steak cesaer that easily could have fed two and refreshing mix of lettuce, fried green tomatoes, a marvelous sandwich called a "Sarah" which is a Rueben only made with slaw, and a Cubano which possibly is the best version I've had ever - and I spend enough time in Miami.  Just wow - and reasonable price too!  Add a hamburger and a tomato mozzarella salad and potato salad and it was still only around $80 for 5 people at lunch.  This is a star!  The ownership is transitioning but the new owner (Cheryl?) was making the sandwiches.  Great job.  Wish I could find another reason to be out that way, now that she's ruined all other Cuban sandwiches for me.

How has this adorable place not been reviewed yet?!  We stopped here on our way back from DC, and I can't thank my GPS enough for deciding to take this route.  As we passed through Madison, it was about noon on a Sunday and I happened to notice the cute little place on the corner.

We decided to stop and give some small town cuisine a try, and I am glad we did.  The service was impeccable, and the food was worth an hour's drive.  They were serving Sunday brunch, and everything we ate was delicious.  On top of that, it's not expensive in the least!
