When these guys first opened up we stopped in and were pleasantly surprised with the food. Â Good portions, decent menu. Â If you're looking for authentic smoked-all-day-at-225 BBQ, this isn't the place. Â Probably broiled and use liquid smoke, no smoke ring. Â But it's not bad either. Â The blackberry sauce for the hush puppies is awesome. Â And the open-faced hot turkey sandwich with gravy is my personal fav.
Then they added a bar...
Within the first month they were fined for serving to minors and now the bar is occupied by a few regulars that all stop, sneer and eyeball every customer that walks in the door. Â They took a decent restaurant, made it smaller and added trash. Â Not the best business plan. Â To top it off, Â the last time I was there the chef came out and was shaking hands with some loud, obnoxious biker friend that looked like he rolled around in the dirt before he went in. Â Hope he washed his hands after.
At least they have a carry-out area.
Very nice staff. I had the half rack of ribs, they were very good. A bit spicier than I'm used to, but very good just the same. My sides were hush puppies & cole slaw, again very good. My daughter had fettichini (sp?) Alfredo with chicken, she loved it! I tried it and again this too was very good. Â We will definitely go back to try more menu items.
Review Source:On my way home from work I decided to pick up dinner at Magoo's. Â I have to say this place beats the commercial Famous Dave's. Â The ribs and brisket were delicious, good smoke flavor. Â Anythime I am in the mood for BBQ I will be going to Magoo's. Â Some approvement areas for Magoo's is the Baked Beans (Too Much BBQ sauce) and the Mac N Cheese (Please stop using Kreft Mas N Cheese mix with the smokey flavor - THIS IS a must fix). Overall I will be back for sure, I prefer private restaurants over commercial ones anyday of the week.
Review Source:What's not to love? This is a welcome addition to the Bel Air-area restaurant options. The pulled pork sandwich was outstanding; tender meat and great flavor. There are four options for sauces to put on top, but definitely try the spicy house sauce. The fries were crisp and hot. The service was great and the prices reasonable.
This would absolutely be a place I would return to further explore the menu. Thanks for a great experience, Magoo's.
Great BBQ! This is Hickory smoked meats with great sides. Nice smoke flavor, much better than Famous Dave's which is about 10 miles away. Very friendly service, quick and great! They also have things like chicken tenders and pizza, so you can take the kids! Being a BBQ lover, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food is here. On the down side, the ambiance is not the greatest. But if you want good food at a great price, this is the place to go!
