A nice little dive in downtown Houma. Â I usually get a burger at The Duke across the street, and head over here for a beer. Â It has been several months since I have been here, but I came across the listing on Yelp, and saw that nobody has reviewed the place yet. Â So I have to put my thoughts down. Â
This spot never changes. Â A dark dive bar/pub right below The Balcony Bar (which is a good bar to people watch during Mardi Gras). Â There is a small wood bar, with a few TV's that will show the sporting event of the day. Â Which is not intrusive at all. Â A few tables at the end of the bar. Â It is very smokey though. Â Which, no matter how much I try to prepare for that, it is always a shock now that Houston has been smoke free for years.
A surprising tap list to be had. Â Usually something from Stone, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, and even NOLA Brewing on occasion. Â Lots of bottles as well. Â All fine and good, but I have noticed the quality of the taps can be suspect at times, and some of the more unique bottles have been sitting in the cooler for far to long. Â The service is prompt, on top of things, and always friendly.
Probably my favorite pub to visit in Houma, which is not saying a lot. Â Though overall, an enjoyable time, especially for the locals, or me when I travel through on business. Â Nice and chill with no frills.
