Ok folks, I finally visited this place after driving past it off and on for a while.
I ordered the pad kee maow, aka drunken noodles. The portion was smaller than I've had at other places, (Xchan in Decatur, Banana Leaf in North Dallas). My dinner companion had the basil fried rice, which was a decent sized portion. He barely finished his. We tasted each other's food and agreed both tasted about right for the dish. Not spectacular, not bland. One of the tomato wedges on mine tasted like it was well past it's prime of life. heh I was a tad still hungry after mine, so I ordered a dessert, the roti. I asked for the caramel sauce to be left off, and they did. She asked if I had roti before or was familiar with it.. I told her I had some besan at the house and had made it from scratch before. She said ahh you cook. I think it surprised her a generic white girl knew how to make an Indian bread. heh
After we finished, I asked her what the filling was.. she grinned with a twinkle in her eye and said.. it's... a sauce. I said, you're not going to tell me are you? We both laughed. She said no no.. you are a cook. haha
I respect they want that a secret, but dang.. that roti is really good, and the ice cream that comes with it.
Now.. why three stars. I knocked one off for my being hungry still after my small portion, and I wasn't starving when I got there. The other for the bathroom being convoluted. My dining companion said the mens room was just as weird.
The sink is a pretty bowl with a pretty faucet with a very short spigot that barely reaches over the edge of the bowl. You have to touch the sink to wash your hands, unless you have the hands of one of the munchkins on wizard of oz. Then, you're gold.
The toilet paper is up on the wall behind the commode. Up above shoulder height.
You have to get paper before you sit down, unless you are a contortionist, or that goddesss that has 8 arms, or an actual octopus, then you'll reach it just fine. Not that I would dine there if I were an octopus. I might end up on the menu. But for folks like me trying to twist around and reach up for it.. I think I sprained my gizzard or something.
I will go back, but I'm going to ask them to get a faucet with a longer spigot. I hope that's what that stick thing is called. If I ask them to lengthen the wrong thing.. that could be embarrassing. heh
I had no idea this place existed but I'm glad I found it. It's the closest Thai place to the North Saginaw/Sendera Ranch/Haslet area. Â However, don't believe the map placement because it shows it right off of Bonds Ranch on 156 but it's actually further north IN "downtown" Haslet.
The lady who greeted me was very nice (I believe she was actually the cook as well) and was willing to review the menu if I was unfamiliar with Thai food but I've had my fair share so I was good to go.
I ordered the green curry w/chicken and steamed rice to go. It was a good size portion. Probably about a Quart. I went with a 3 on the 1-5 Heat scale and it was perfect. Â The green coconut curry was very rich and tasty. I'm stuffed.
My wife is pretty picky and so she sticks with what she knows, chicken and broccoli. She was pleased with it (though that portion was kind of small). We also ordered some crab rangoons and they were alright but nothing special. They were the usual you'd find at most places.
I look forward to trying more of their entrees.
Give it a try. It's worth a shot!
