Solid neighborhood place. Decent food, decent drinks (but like other reviews note, NO liquor). For whatever reason we were there on a fairly busy night (chalk it up to the basketball game) and there was some interesting people watching from couples to a group of friends to a guy who looked like he was wearing PJs to another who was wearing sunglasses and a puffer vest...yeah. Interesting. I've been to some other places that are definitely better in Queens, but all-in-all an ok experience here with a bunch of friends for an evening.

I love the Paan Masala Remix, and Mango Paan with mango juice base..really like rain drop but feel it could be stronger and last longer. Also try Persian Sand ..beautiful aroma and flavor! This place has amazing Hookah and really nice service and staff. I have literally stopped going to Astoria for their over burnt and over priced chalky Hookah. This place is probably the best I have tried.

I actually didn't even smoke there! I give them a lot of credit for their effort though, trying to get a hookah lounge in a very residential neighborhood, across the street from the 99 cent store. ;) The place did smell nice from everyone's hookah pipes so I'm going to just assume smoking would've been as tasty. The decor has changed to be "appropriate" for a hookah lounge. My favorite part of this review, & reason that I am giving it 3 stars, I have saved for last: they had really good wings!? Dunno how they pull it off off but going there just to see if my comment about the wings is correct - is reason enough to try this spot. As a side note, I've never gone when there are more than 2 or 3 people here so I can't make a genuine comment about whether this place is full of smoke, as only 1 person had a pipe in the whole place.

Excellent, a hookah location where other hookah bars need to base their standards on. The only drawback at this place is that they don't serve liquor, which you all know is my next most favorite thing besides hookah. Not to worry, you undercover alcoholics out there, next door is a bar with everything you can think of drinking. I haven't seen my friend Rain in about two years, so we Yelped up some local hookah venues that our friends have visited. Then we decided to have a mini hookah reunion and try this location. We usually pick places we haven't been before, I'm like the Ash Ketchum of hookah (gotta try 'em all). We weren't sure what to expect, in turn weren't that excited for the venue, only for the hookah. We took our sweetest time to get there, planned to meet up in the late afternoon but ended up getting there late in the evening. They have changed my mind since my visit, ask me to come there now and I'll be there no problem. The parking on this block is usually packed so I recommend to park behind the 99 cent store across the street if you are coming in the evenings.

    Service (Attentive)
The owner greeted us as we walked in, asked if we wanted a table or a booth. I love to be all cozy and comfy, so of course I would pick the booths. You can never go wrong with a booth, especially if you have this teddy bear with you. I let him know that this was my first time at Majis and that I am more than familiar with hookah. The building is a bit on the smaller side, the people at the tables seem a bit clustered, also. The owner told us all the wonderful things he had done with his business and pointed out pretty much everything that he used in the decor. That was interesting and nice to know, but I would have preferred him telling me during my wait for the hookah not before I even ordered. I'm glad that he did make us feel comfortable and encouraged us to try some different things on his menu that he "stole from other places" and gave his own touch to make better. Our waitress didn't have much to do so she hung around in the background till we needed her. The manager of this location is a guy who likes to constantly make sure we are doing good, I like that and I encourage it. The only thing about his was that he looked like he just came out of a sports bar one Friday night. It would be nice to see him match the location and look sharp, some nice dress clothes and a good shave.

    Hookah (Expert)
The reason for the stars in a review of a hookah lounge, always lands on the shoulders of it's hookah. This could break or build you up for that perfect look and taste. I had ordered a VIP berry flavored hookah, while my friend got a masala mint flavor. The flavors are great, with a strong scent that you know it's what you ordered before they get to your table. I have to applaud them on that, never have I had the scent of the hookah be as strong as the scent when I smoke out of it. We ended up staying here, catching up on the past years and enjoying our hookahs that lasted about a little over three hours. It was packed to perfection, I had no problems and the coals were brought out in a timely manner without having to inquire about them.

    Food (Decent)
Of course hookah lounges aren't known for their food but their hookah. Still I was a bit shocked when I asked the waitress if I could mix a hero up a little and she told me they couldn't. I then asked if the food was frozen and she said not to her knowledge. Well to my knowledge, if a chef or whoever is making the food, can't change much of it per the customer's request then it means that the food is basically ordered frozen in bulks and just heated up. I enjoy the fact that they do have a lot of drink and food choices on the menu.

    Price (High)
The bill here is a bit on the heavier side if you order all of components of their menu. When it comes down to breaking those components down with their prices then they are worth it. You aren't getting cheap quality here, so remember that.

I go to a lot of hookah spots and this was by far the bottom of the barrel. The flavors seemed to be diluted and did not taste authentic or real at all. The service was absolutely terrible. People were extremely rude and took entirely too long to cater to my party (even though the place was dead empty). On top of this, they overcharged us on each hookah. Overall, I wouldn't waste my time/money on this place...

Majis is a cool place. Its local and the Hookah is good.

Lets start with the hookah. They have a huge variety to choose from, like apple, watermelon, berry, tangerine, peach, pineapple, etc. My favorite hookah is the mint and the watermelon. It is awesome! They also have some "VIP" hookahs like the sex on the beach, bubble gum, tequilla, and Code 69. They charge a bit more for those ($15.99). They service the hookah frequently. I didn't have to flag them down to change the coal. They were on top of it.

As another yelper mentioned they do not serve alcohol. A beer would be a nice compliment to the hookah, but it might be a religious or cost thing for them. Be careful as things do change frequently there. One week they might have a special and next week they don't. Make sure you ask before buying.

The decor is so so and some tables are very close to others.

If you are looking for a decent hookah place and you are nearby this will suffice.

I think i've been here enough times to write a review for it.

Please note that i've only been here a few times after 9 but i'm here mostly from 5 to 8.

    Pros:
Great and smooth hookahs (best mint i've ever had)
    Drinks and food is delicious
Awesome music, a mix of dance and foreign.
Helpful and attentive staff.. If your stay is extended they'll change your hookah pipe for a new one. and they aren't stingy with their coal
and the best thing of all..
The interior is always different from a week to week basis.. I'm guessing they're still finding their identity but it's still comfortable
Belly Dancers that actually know what they're doing
    and..
THEY ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS.. I love that feature.. Finally a hookah place that isn't anal about "Cash Only"
Not really a high school spot.. Thank god

    Now for the cons:
No alcohol, sometimes an ice cold beer or a glass whiskey would go nice with a hookah.
There are too many tables on one side, which makes it a pain in the ass getting in and out.. If they removed one and evenly spaced it out, that would be perfect.
Booths are for parties of 3 or more.. but it looks like there's a VIP section in the back. but if you head there a little early when it's dead booths are open for everyone
They don't have a happy hour special anymore.. which is a complete bummer when I saw my check. It's like 1 week they had it.. another week they didn't.. and now I haven't seen it since.

    Bottom line:
I use this place to get some work done, the music isn't blasting but it's very upbeat to keep you focused. The location is fantastic, everything about this place is great.. However, I only took off 1 star cause of the absence of a happy hour, which is a huge thing for a broke college student.

Love this hookah lounge! They have an amazing array of techno/trance/arabic/indian music and the ambiance is overall relaxed. I've recently stopped going to most hookah lounges because I now have a hookah of my own, but you just can't beat this place. I STILL come here because of the atmosphere.

    - Hookah is fairly priced and if your smoke is harsh, they will fix it right away. Our favorite is the Legion of Doom.

    -  They aren't shady with their coal. It's seems like they have a 20 minute interval for changing the coal.

    - Heads up, they don't sell liquor.

    - Their chicken (or lamb I forget) over rice is on point! SOOO GOOD!

    - Their Moroccan tea is great as well.

    - Everyone that works there is very friendly. Overall experience is awesome, That's why I'm a regular there...

Not sure why anyone would give this place 5 stars. Let's start from the beginning. When you walk in, you're greeted by a waiter who asks you if you want a booth or table. BUT THERE'S A CATCH! If you want a booth, there's a 2 hookah minimum. Wow, I guess those soft cushions are magical or something.

Next is the flavor game. "Regular" hookah flavors are $11.99. The special flavors aren't on the menu, so you're treated to a car salesman-like experience. They butter you up with the "I would recommend this blah blah blah one with a milk base." Of course, it costs $14.99. If you want me to order the premium ones, don't shove it down my neck. Put it on, oh I don't know, THE MENU.

If you try to order the "regular" flavors, they'll look at you like you made the biggest mistake of your life. We ordered the coconut and cappuccino flavors. To add to the disappointment, they were out of cappuccino. Do you think they told us that beforehand? Of course not!

As the evening progressed, things did get a little better, probably because one of the several waiters that came by took notice of our disappointment. He gave us a "frozen hose" for the mint hookah we ordered. It was a nice gesture, but it was a little too late.

When I go to an establishment, I want my experience to start well, not end well. Majlis Hookah Lounge & Cafe needs to learn something from the experts in Astoria. I have no problem taking the extra drive to Astoria since I know it will be better than this place.

I will not be coming back to this sub-par establishment.

I came back here to give this place another try and man did everything change for the better.  The place def looks better with booths added. The hookahs are much better and probably one of the best I've had... I tried the persian sands it was GREAT!

The customer service is very friendly and def makes this place better than other local hookah places. Because they actually care about you and it really shows. Everyone there is so welcoming and friendly.

I'll admit it, I made a mistake before but after recently visiting...everything really did change and its def worth going.

    BTW location is great!
