We stopped here on our was from Redwoods to Lava Beds. What a great eatery. I had my doubts at first as the 3 college types behind the counter worked busily. My chai latte was probably the best I have ever had and my chef salad, a recommendation by one of the workers was fresh and tasty. My kids Italian soda slushees hit the spot and the sandwiches were tasty. A must if stopping in this no man's land.
Review Source:We go to the Trinity Alps each year for a backpacking trip, and each year we start the day at Mamma Llama. They have awesome breakfast burritos, fresh delicious coffee, and friendly service in a cool hangout setting. We aren't locals, but the woman who works there makes us feel like we are. It always makes me consider whether we should skip the backpacking and come back in the evening to see who is playing, but alas, the mountains call. Looking forward to next year!
Review Source:The owners of this place are so nice. They provide free wifi for their customers & their drinks aren't bad. I mostly went in for an italian soda since I wasn't a big coffee drinker. They have shows here as well that I did not have a chance to partake in during my 3-month stay. I'd definitely stopby just to see a tiny bit of the Weaverville culture within its walls :)
Review Source:My GF and I visited this business for some live music October 27, 2012. We didn't eat anything, but did have a couple of beers before the music started. The 2 ladies behind the bar were very courteous and friendly, and the owner, Steve, was very friendly and informative. It was my 1st time to Mama Llama's and it won't be my last. The band that evening, Goodnight, Texas, was the best I have heard in some time. Next time, I'll try another beer, and whatever the house specialty might be.
Review Source:I stumbled in here after a 40 mile hike looking for coffee, I got my creamy and strong double latte and sat down and people watched in a half bleary eyed state. I hadn't seen people in quite sometime, it was good to see people chatting, not just on their computers.
A few notes: They have free wifi, they have extension cords to lengthen outlets, they have punk rock playing at a lower than punk sound level, they are a record shop and a live venue too...friendly staff.
Great little coffeehouse in Weaverville! Very comfortable and casual inside with old rock albums covering the walls, a few tables scattered about, and a stage in back for live music at night. This place is not only a coffeehouse, but it's also a bar at night, complete with microbrews. This place also sells CDs and posters and other cute little kitsch items.
The staff is welcoming and warm and they handmade our food. We ordered breakfast bagel sandwiches with "spicy Ben sauce" that was some sort of spicy mayo. It was excellent, as was the whole sandwich. The coffee was strong and delicious. We got some mini cinnamon buns too but they were a tad overspiced for my personal tastes.
We can't wait to come back at night to enjoy some live music next time we are in town.
I spend a lot of time in the Llama for lunch and to enjoy the shows in the evenings. Â The food is great and the musical shows are the best in the north state. Â The staff and owners are great and really make you feel at home. Â Good luck Donna and Steve and keep the place open/ Â You offer a great place for the locals and the travelers.
Review Source:I absolutely adore Mamma Llama's! I come here all the time because I live really close and they have wi-fi, which is a huge plus around these parts. Not only is the environment cozy and open, the owners and staff are the best! So friendly and considerate, always. And their food? SO GOOD. I love The Bishop sandwich, The Chef's salad, and the Caprese sandwich. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to coffee and I've never had a disappointing drink. I cannot rave more about this place, if you ever need to stop in Weaverville this should be where you come!
Review Source:Charming atmosphere. Delicious food and drinks. Sweet venue for great live music. I wish I could pick the whole place up and relocate it with me wherever I went. You won't find better people than the owners of this establishment. My favs on the menu are the Italian Breakfast Special and the White Mocha.
Review Source:The BEST atmosphere in this wonderful little coffee shop! No matter who you are, where you're from, or how old you are, you are welcomed like family with open arms. The food is amazing, I recommend the Spicy Benjamin wrap or the Breakfast Beat sandwich. Drinks, all of them are amazing, but I recommend the blended chai (or hot, they are both amazing), or the mexican mocha. Also, the music is always fun, and the owners/staff are completely knowledgeable regarding anything playing and all of the music they sell. And if you get a chance to stay for one of their concerts, GO! They are so fun and friendly and because it is a small venue, you get to know people and really get to know the people entertaining you, like an automatic VIP ticket! I LOVE MAMMA LLAMA!!!
P.S. Get a piece of the chocolate cake... Ask for it Gussie/Lyle style (with whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate shavings on top!)
Weaverville is a i quiet, quaint little town that is without a street signal. That's just a polite way of saying, there isn't much there. One of the few things that is there is a great little coffeehouse located on Main Street. I swear this is one of the new places other than Disneyland where the MainStreet is still literally the main street.
There aren't a lot of options on the top of a mountain but this is an option that I am glad that was available. The coffee is great. I'm a big fan of the salted carmel hot chocolate, you might have to ask really nicely to get it because I think it's a special during the winter but don't quote me on that and just ask nicely because, well you should be polite.
The Llama is a great place for a breakfast bite but they also offer some really tasty sandwiches for lunch as well as homemade soups of the day. I sweat Dumb and Dumber have ruined the whole concept of the soup du jour for me.
"Excuse me, Flo? What's the soup du jour?"
It's the soup of the day.
"Mmm that sounds good I think I'll have that."
This seriously might be the last place to get a hot drink in the winter or a cold drink during the warm summer months and a bite to eat before you get lost in the forest.
So do yourself a favor and if you ever find yourself in Weaverville stop in for a spell. Enjoy a beverage, check out the cooky stuff they are selling and enjoy a bite to eat.
They also have live music, so in a town with little to do, it's something to do and they performers are better than you'd expect in a sleepy little town on the top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere.
Excellent coffee, Excellent food, Friendly folks, Kitchy atmosphere! Â This place is great. Â I can't go there without getting their caprese sandwich. Â So fresh and delicious. Â They have fun novelty items everywhere, a great selection of music, and their shop is instrumental in bringing great musicians to the area. Â This is definitely a great place to stop if you're passing through town.
Review Source:Excellent Find!! Wonderful variety and especially tasty food choices.
I never expected Weaverville could be soo kewl. This is contemporary in expresso, latte, mochas, teas, and iced drinks choices.
Service by the owner Steve & wife, Donna, is attentive, delivery is superb, and generous sized glass mugs if you sit and sip.
The food is equally surprising with breakfast and lunch choices including bagels, grilled sandwiches, hoagies, wraps, soups salads, and quiche.
best for me steves spicy egg mountain for breakfast and roast beef saute with horseradiesh, onion and mushroom for lunch.
YUM YUM YUM
Easy to miss place with a great atmosphere inside. Â This is a must stop when driving through Weaverville. Â I love that they have real music CDs, and listing stations to boot. Â The coffee is good but it depends on the barista. Â I had a latte that wasn't to go home about. Â Keep it up and work on the espresso.
Review Source:When it comes to coffee or really anything in Weaverville the options are usually limited. That being said, this is it when it comes to a hot beverage. There is a Starbucks in the local grocery store but when you come to a town like this you need to enjoy the vibe of the town and the Llama delivers that. When you're in a small town you gotta say no to the corporation and yes to the mom and pop shop.
Stop in for a cup of something hot for the winter or cool for the summer, they will do you right. Grab a bite to eat and then meander around the store looking at all the weird and wacky stuff. T-shirts, cds little gifts and knickknacks. Or take a seat at one of the couches. I'm pretty sure all of the seating is pre-1970's.
Check out one of their concerts. I was totally amazed when I heard that artists I have actually heard of have played there.
Very friendly staff & overall very friendly people. I was there today & the choir from a local church was singing in the coffeeshop. It totally reminded me of visiting grandma's house as a kid. The staff was totally cool .... I spilled my coffee outside by accident & they let me refill for free. The coffee is local & high-quality (I got drip regular coffee). The town is frozen in time about 100 to 150 years ago. I loved it. It was Sunday & almost all of the shops were closed. This is an old-fashioned, Christian community.
Review Source:Wonderful variety of coffees and teas and beautifully brewed, I might add....I've been drinking coffee longer than both Ruben and Evan have been alive - I know a good cup of java and it's here at the Llama.
I also enjoy a tea latte once in awhile - and it's beautifully done.
Love the chocolate cake - I highly recommend you say "yes" to the whipped cream.
Great place for conversation - talk to the locals and you'll discover the best hiking trail, fav swimming hole, best fishing spot - or a great debate about Superman vs Batman, Green Hornet vs Spiderman - or the lyrics to Super Chicken. Â They are all available at the Llama.
Wi-Fi abounds along with vintage couches for you to sink into while surfing.
We found Mamma Llama while we were visiting family in Hayfork. This is a really cool coffeehouse, with a fun hippy ambiance, in a cool old building. The antique wooden bar was really pretty, made you feel like you were back in the old west -- at a coffeehouse. :)
I had the best Mexican Iced Mocha I've ever had! Yum! Awesome to cool down with on a hot day. And the staff and locals are really friendly.
They also have a great selection of music and fun souveniers. We bought a Big Foot action figure and a great Mamma Llama logo travel mug. Its my favorite and I use it all the time now.
When we head up to Weaverville again, we'll definitely drop in again!
A nice hippy coffee house. It's got couches, a good selection of tea's and food. It's great for Weaverville.
The coffee isn't the best, an inexperienced barrista left the espresso a bit over extracted. That said, it's drinkable. Which is a lot more than can be said for most places in the area.
This is a quirky local spot serving up tasty, high quality food and beverages. Â The woman working there served up a perfectly toasted sesame bagel and medium Earl Grey tea for $4. Â It was the perfect beginning to my day. Â The coffeehouse is much more than just that, offering music, both live and recorded, neat little gifts, free wifi and a long list of breakfast and lunch options. Â Plenty of seating at tables or in comfy chairs. Â They have an amazing array of tea - shelves full of Republic of Tea and Tazo.
Review Source:I stumbled upon Mamma Llama while on my way back from an amazing road trip. Â We drove up the coast from San Francisco all the way up to mid-state Oregon then a sharp right and back down through the pikes, peaks and valleys inland! Â After driving for several hours we started seeing signs for Weaverville. Â Don't think I'd ever heard of the place but was hoping for a road side gas station to make a "pit stop". Â We found a gold mine... the Mamma Llama coffee house!!!! Â Yay, a real latte! Â Who woulda thunk it? Â Living in the Bay Area food and excellent coffee are within a matter of blocks so when traveling in the car for long distances it becomes somewhat of a challenge. Â Especially in remote areas, generally speaking. Â I would recommend anyone and EVERYONE make a special trip to this gem simply for the experience alone. Â The staff is AMAZING, friendly, happy and just plain fun! Â They carry local and faraway gifts as well as whole bean coffee by the pound.
Get your tuchis to the Mamma Llama and put a little happy in to your day along with a great cuppa joe =)
I really liked this place. Â Although I was only in there for 10 minutes, it was 10 minutes that I wouldn't mind re-living over and over. Â
My mom and I were heading down the hill from Coffee Creek Dude Ranch, and we stopped here to grab a bite. Â It is a very cool, rather funky space with lots of good-looking grub. Â I ordered a wrap with turkey, pesto and veggies. Â (After a week of Dude Ranch food, I was desperate for some fresh veg!) Â The sandwich was really good, but, if I ordered it again, I would probably get hummus instead of pesto. Â As I waited for our food, I tried one of those Aussie cookies that come in a giant tub at Costco. Â (I see them there all the time, but never want to buy a whole thing, so it was nice to spend 60 cents and only have 1.) Â Yummy! Â Plus, they were playing Portishead on the speakers, I'm always in favor of that. Â
If I lived anywhere near here, I think I'd be a regular here, one of those people that they have to kick out when they close the joint.
Awesome coffee house that rivals many a city coffee house. Â Lots of good coffees and Tazo teas and a large, dizzying selection of flavor syrups for coffees and Italian sodas. Â
Cute section of entertaining nick knacks, and a section of hard to find/not necessarily mainstream CD's and books. Â
They support local causes, such as when the wildfires nearby threatened the town they participated in the fundraiser for the volunteer fire crew. Â
Another great thing: the events calendar. Â Since they are housed in a very large space they have room for hosting live music nights. Â These are usually little-known but well-followed musicians and groups that are eclectic and making new niches in the music world. Â
I haven't been able to make it to any of their shows yet but after reading about some of their recent shows, there are some musicians I really wished I would have seen.
