From the second we walked into this restaurant, we knew we'd picked a winner.  It looks like a little English cottage tucked up against lush trees and when you duck inside, you half expect to see Snow White singing while she cooks dinner for the seven dwarves. The reality is even better: smiley, happy staff, high beamed ceilings with a rustic chandelier, a mounted boar's head (complete with an apple in his mouth). Oh, and an awesome beer selection and small but well-edited menu.  Our server Megan was delightful, as were the other servers (one of whom was Megan's sister - love it).  We cleaned our plates but managed to make room for the walnut brownie a la mode (good) AND the sticky toffee pudding (phenomenal).

I was not impressed at all.  The calamari was WAY too salty perhaps it was because of the parmesan cheese they put on top.  My fish and chips came out pale and the thick batter was not crispy all the way through.  I was not expecting McDonalds fries instead, I truly thought I would have been served fresh cut potatoes at this price point.  The rib eye came with boxed mashed potatoes.  Do not order your meat well done unless you are interested in eating sprinkled charcoal nibs on top. YUCK!  However, my watermelon beer was delicious.  Recommendation: Go to Manchester Arms for a beer after you have enjoyed a great meal elsewhere.

Two words come to mind when I think of the MA prices... expense account!  I'm sure being a 10 minute or less walk from a plethera of hotels and neighborhoods filled with the local private school families, Delta flight crews and weary travelers is why they feel they can charge over $20 for the special and over $7 for a pint of beer (and no happy hour).

Not really an Irish or British food kind of person but I did try the special (which was some kind of salmon plate) my first visit.  It was good but not worth the cost by far.  As a side note, they read you the really tasty sounding specials but don't tell you the price so either ask or be sitting down when they bring you the bill.

They have a decent chicken sandwich but make sure the head cook (if the same guy is still there) doesn't make it because it will be so incredibly salty it's almost inedible.  The blue cheese chips are really good.

I used to frequent the place mostly because of the staff.  The owner and servers are incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome but it's much more money that I want to spend on beer and a meal.

I have mixed feelings when it comes to Manchester Arms... and I've been in three times now, so I feel like I can be honest and fair about my thoughts:

    - Great building, patio, and decor.
    - Uncomfortable seating and a consistent dank smell.
    - Friendly service.
    - Always very slow service.
    - Very good food.
    - Very over-priced food.
    - Some good craft brews rotate through their list!

Whenever I'm in the area, folks I'm with seem to want to hit this spot... mostly because of their evening dinner specials (the pork chop is amazing - again, though, expensive)...... so I'm sure I'll be in more.  I just think it mostly thrives on lack of similar competition nearby...

The Manchester Arms is in my friends Joe's neighborhood, he lives in the same community and has always mentioned Manchester each time I've visited so on Sat afternoon we decided to cool out on their patio and what a treat it was!

It was a beautiful Sat afternoon, folks were out and about on foot, the sun was shining bright and a great day to sit on the patio! I've always wanted to come here but usually they're not open until around 5 for dinner. A staff member told us now that its springtime, they will probably open earlier for sure!  One of the managers greeted us pleasantly and the first thing outta our mouths was "do you serve Mojitos?"

At first the lady said she didn't think they had any mint leaves which was the common factor that led us away from 3 other places we'd stopped in right before Manchester Arms. Well she delivered and fully !!!! This lady (who's name I don't recall) makes sic Mojitos..they rocked!!! Ummm we had several....LOL + a group of ladies (probably in their 60's I'd say) walked in and we immediately started bragging about the Mojitos and talked all three of them into ordering those as well :-) Can you say up-sell:-)

We sat at the patio tables with brightly covered umbrellas on the brick grounds below our feet just sipping, talking and taking it in. Everyone was very friendly. Eventually on our third round so Mojitos, two other staff members came in and one of them took over as our server, but this guy? Umm no, he was nice/friendly but could NOT make a Mojito! It just so happened immediately after he served us the lady re-appeared, we sent that drink back and she made yet another amazing one and brought it out :-) Next another employee comes out, talks a bit (we were the true conversation pieces at our table for two!) He offers us more to drink but by then we were a bit loopy ( or at least I was).

I'd also ordered some Calamari to take the Mojito edge off, it was very tasty. I took liberty to reading the menu and planning my return, everything looked scrumptious. Its a simple menu but from what I've heard, its well worth another visit or two and I shall follow up on that venture next....... Kool place, quaint, not overcrowded and nice staff!

Pretty authentic British pub.  Food was good.  Hummus was great! (ok that's not traditional, but it was good)

While the reviews seem to be mostly positive, and almost made me rethink my position, I'm sticking to my guns.

To be fair, I've only been here 3 times. The food was decent, but extremely overpriced for what you got with the 'special.' It wasn't bad, but it was relatively bland for being so expensive. The drinks were also overpriced and weak. I realize I wasn't in a dive bar that prides itself on getting someone wasted for ten bucks. But as a rule of thumb, if each drink's price is above the current hourly minimum wage, please put some alcohol in there. Don't get my griping about price wrong; I love treating myself to nice dinners. It's just when run-of-the-mill food has an inflated price that I get upset.

Lastly, service was relatively slow, though polite.

First time here after several recommendations. It was crowded, as a good pub should be on Friday night, but we only waited about five minutes.
The LMQ ordered a burger, which she had been craving, and I tried the Bangers and Mash food the first time. I liked the Bangers-they reminded me of what Mama would serve for breakfast back in NC referred to as fresh sausage. The potatoes were great with the gravy, and I even ate all the green beans. As for the LMQ she reports the burger was just a burger. As she reminded me, when I was trying to decide between a burger and the B&M, the waitress said "You can get a burger anywhere".
Overall not bad, we will definitely be back.

I was reluctant to try this place...British pub? Not my style. But I went with friends from work for dinner, and it was not too shabby at all! Someone had told me that it has a "great neighborhood feel" and they were absolutely right. First, the place was packed on a Wednesday night, which is a great sign! Second, the server remembered everyone's drinks (I know that should always be the case, but never ceases to impress me). Third, the food was decent. I mean if you're scheduled for heart surgery or have high levels of cholesterol, I'd recommend you stay away. But if you just ran a marathon, this is where you come to splurge. In the latter case, do try the chips with blue cheese and the fried green tomatoes for appetizers. I also got the fish n chips and although I've had better, I've had much worse more often. Hit the fish n chips spot. My friend ordered the rib-eye steak, which looked like it weighed 5 pounds. When I'm in the mood for steak I'll do that. Another friend ordered the shrimp and grits and that was the only thing on the table that looked terrible (but most restaurants- Empire State South notwithstanding- screw up grits). Last, another friend had the smoked salmon sandwich which looked awesome.

Not a beer drinker my self, but will definitely come back.

Pretty amazing.. I had some Coca Cola Marinade Rib Eye that was pretty good.. and pretty cheap.  Considering the local waffle house has 4 stars I was pretty reluctant to try anything in this area.  I was happy I was wrong.

Went to here for a business lunch as something 'different'.  Unfortunately we didn't know just how different it would be.

We came in and it's decorated as you would picture a typical English pub, dark, a lot of wood and appeared cramped.  No one greeted us, and there appeared to only be one person working the floor.  We had to wait for a table to be cleared by the singular employee and then were seated.

Before we ordered we were told about several items that weren't available despite being on the menu, mostly fish dishes such as the fish 'n chips, which a few of my fellow diners wanted.  Most of us ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and then we waited.....and waited....and waited...service was really really slow.  Once the food did arrive it didn't look that appetizing.  The chicken on our sandwiches was dry and despite the lack of fish on the menu i, the chicken itself had a fish like smell to it.  Most of us just picked at our chicken and left a majority of it on our plates.  The fries were quite good, however, so there was one redeeming quality.  But overall my experience was not one I want to go through again.

Even though service was slow on patio area it was courteous and friendly. We ordered bangers and mash and the fish and chips both were VERY GOOD!
The broccoli and green beans that came with the bangers and mash were cooked and seasoned perfectly still had a crisp texture and bright color. Batter on fish was crisp and nice golden color cooked fresh to order, frys we're just ok they should probably consider changing brands. But they were hot and crisp. Portions were great! Prices fair.  No drinks this time we were on lunch break but they have a nice selection! I especially like the hard cider!

I know, it's an English Pub, so I should be trying the fish & chips or bangers.  Nope, it's in Atlanta.  I had the fried green tomatoes and Shrimp & Grits.   The atmosphere was a British pub and the southern cooking rocked.

I walked over to this place from one of the hotels down the street in search of a casual atmosphere for a late lunch.  The beer selection was deceiving as I asked for at least 3 before I chose one that was actually available.  Regarding the food, I ordered the hummus plate which was absolutely fabulous followed by the fish & chips, which was mediocre at best.  If you like a little fish with your batter, then I definitely recommend ordering this item; however, I regret not choosing a different item, such as the Shepard's Pie.  The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly, which made for an overall pleasant experience.

One of my favorite places, period. Had a gigantic smoked pork chop that had been cooking all day. Practically fell off the bone using just my fork. Very flavorful. Served on top of really good mashed potatoes and fresh green beans

Andy the bar tender was awesome. Kept us entertained and knew his craft. Let us sample anything we wanted and his recommendations were spot on.

Make a point to go here!!

One word, WOW!   The food, the service, the outside patio was great.  The 30 oz pork chop split between two people is the way to go, if you don't want the normal British fare. Wherever you are in Atlanta, make the drive to the Arms, you will not be disappointed.

How did this place lose a half star since I started eating there? Really!

Walk up and into the Manchester Arms and  you're in the UK (and I was there this summer). The menu's in two tiers: What you're handed and a bunch of specials your server describes.

This place is good enough to visit twice in a week, which I did. Visit one consisted of the a special with pan-roasted trout over white beans and greens ($26). With a lovely black-and-tan, $34.07. Visit two was fish-n-chips ($13), a large house salad with extra-special house made balsamic vinaigrette ($6), and an IPA; all for $25.51.

PROPS to our server on both evenings, Jennifer.

BONUS: Great food just beyond a desert of chain restaurants out behind the Airplot.

    BONUS: Fantastic outdoor seating.

BONUS: Large portions on the specials.

I LOVE this restaurant. I love sitting outside too, my husband loves the beer selection. On 8/31/12, we met 2 other couples for a quick dinner before a football game. Did I say quick? I meant SUPER SLOW, thanks to our server Heather.
I ordered a burger mid-rare and it came out super done. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to send it back - but Heather didnt check back with us anyway so sending it back couldnt have happened.  Fortunately it had a great flavor so I was able to eat it.
Also fortunately for Heather she added on a 19% tip so she got paid for her "amazing" service.
I will be back though to try the yummy looking ribeye someone else from out table ordered. Will just make sure to have another server.

Great fish and chips.  Just moved back to Atlanta from Kansas City and the fish and chips here were not surpassed.  BBQ yes but shepards pie, fish and chips not even close.  They need to get more serious on the beer though.  More ale's, stouts, and porters fewer IPA's.  If they want to get distinct add some local stuff Burnt Hickory, Jail House etc... They should have all of the Griffin beers read 'real ale' on tap at all times.  I'd like to see them go a little different add some Belgium stuff hint hint get Boulevard Tank 7 when its available on tap!

PS Shepards pie is a best buy at $9!

Quaint British Pub in College Park and worth the drive.  Walking distance from area airport hotels and is generally safe to do so.  Excellent beer selections, food is always fantastic - highly recommend the double pork chop or the Guiness marinated ribeye steak.  Salads are great as well, though not that many on the menu.  They also have 'typical' pub selections of bangers and mash as well as fish and chips served in the traditional style.  Entree 'specials' can be extremely pricey.

One particular point on service:  it's EXTREMELY slow.  Plan for your server to disappear after they visit the table each time whether it's to ask if you need another beer or if you are interested in dessert.  Whatever you ordered will eventually make it's way to the table.  By then, you'll have probably forgotten about it or are no longer interested in it when it does arrive.  For God's sake people, pick up the pace.  Some of us come here on our lunch HOUR or in the evenings for dinner and don't particularly care to spend the entire night up to closing.

Other than my complaint on the service, it's a great casual place to enjoy a beer with friends.

My TL took me here for my birthday for lunch. Unfortunately, we were on company time, so I couldn't partake in their beer/wine list.

    This place is so charming.

I would like to vote their patio as one of the best in Atlanta. They grow strawberries and basil in the garden on the patio, in addition to others that I just cant place. the foliage is so nice. the patio has just the right amount of sun and shade.

I had that day's special, a burger. ohh, but this burger was not just any old burger. It was the best burger. juicy patty, crisp, flavorful baconey bacon, oozing cheese, and this awesome, refreshing, spicy, flavorful bbq sauce. All together, it was an award winning burger and left my belly satisfied, but my taste buds craving for more.

my team leader had that day's special too: a flank steak salad. It came with these huge slabs of flank steak over a bed of greens and veggies. it was quite appealing and even more tasty.

They had the traditional shepherd's pie and the fish and chips. I'll def be trying these soon.

    i will definitely come back.

Additional parking is located next door at the church.

I'm so glad I work so close.

Who would've know there would be a quality British pub hidden in College Park?

It is a quaint little house turned into a restaurant. I've only been here once and it was such a nice day that we sat on the patio so I've never been inside and haven't tried their beer selection.

BUT I probably had one of the best trout salads. They used this smoked style trout with quality fresh greens, avocado and creamy citrus vinaigrette. It was so delicious and I didn't know a British pub like this could make one like this.

Not only was the food good but the service was good. The service was like a high class restaurant. The waiter kept checking on us and most importantly he kept up with my water. I drink a ridiculously amount of water and the server must've filled up 4-5 times.

Good job Manchester Arms! I'll be back.

Thank you fellow Yelpers for once again directing my path.  Manchester Arms was the highlight of my day.  Upon entering the staff makes you feel at home, I decided to sit at the bar, and I don't even drink, it just presented itself as an inviting comfort.

Within minutes the friendly atmosphere of this city is offered once again with other patrons engaging in conversation with me.  In fact, one of them saved me cab fare by dropping me off at my hotel on his way to pick up his sister at the airport.

Dinner consisted of fish and chips, very impressed with the presentation.  The fish was a little undercooked, but the chips...yummy.

I should have went with my first instinct, the pork chops.  The gentlemen a couple of stools down from me raved of its tastiness.

My finger is tempted to hit the 4th star, but I need to be conservative on this rating and go with a 3.  A second visit is certainly on my list when I return to Atlanta, perhaps they will receive the extra star at that time.

You know the picture, the brat who is in the back seat because he's not getting what he wants. When one of my brokers told me we were going to a British pub, by the airport in college park (birthplace of Luda) all I could think about is your typical wannabe Atlanta British pub (not you brick store) where your lucky if they serve food warm and they qualify to be a British pub if they serve Guinness, but only worse. In all I had that terrible kid attitude in the back seat and didn't trust my fellow YELP community. WELL I WAS COMPLETELY 110% wrong. This place is a hidden gem as I was unworthy to be graced with its presence. You won't find yuppies here mostly, middle aged people that work at the airport, but this shouldn't shy you away.

You pull off the exit on Virginia into a shabby part of town, pull to the right and a couple of miles down the scenery starts to change drastically the further down. I was already impressed when I spotted Manchester Arms. It's a charming house with a small outdoor porch area that you have to love. The outdoor seating is done wonderfully with a small but quaint inside. It's about as cozy as a pub can be.

We sat down, and were greeted by a tall, sandy, spiked and grey haired man. He wasn't our waiter, but always checked on us to see how we were doing at the time. I began to ask him about the place. He gave me the whole story, saying how it was founded by a man from Manchester. He breathed passion about the establishment that was contagious. He gave us the most important tip of the night that the key to the best food here were the specials. I ordered a beer as did my colleague. I love it when they bring out the beer in the brewery glasses (duvel in a duvel glass, perfect). They also pour Guinness the right way. Letting it sit for five minutes then they finish off the top, such a nice touch.

I glanced over the menu, to see nothing truly special. Burgers, bangers and mash, fish and chips and so on. I did watch the entrées go out and they looked as perfect in quality as one could hope for. The fish and chips were flakey and the blue cheese chips looked divine. I decided to hear about the specials from our waiter. She went through the specials with my jaw falling to the floor. Smoked pork chop, salmon in a risotto with a truffle sauce, short ribs. I can't remember the exact descriptions, but they all sounded so wonderful. The specials are like a hidden second menu. I believe there were 8 deliciously prepared specials that night. I tried to get the pork chop, but they had already run out. I went back to that kid who is in the back seat of the car with his arms crossed, basically being a little b.

I got my salmon risotto and take it I'm not big on salmon. It perfectly blew my mind. Buttery risotto and a salmon with a charred outside. I was again unworthy of its taste. I left about as happy and satisfied as one could be.

    Pros:
    THE SPECIALS
    Beer in their glasses
    Porch Area
    Attentiveness
    Passionate staff
    Lagniappe
    Ambience

Since our Atlanta site is close by here, I have come here on a few occasions.

Dinner here was good... a relaxed atmosphere, where you can sit outside on the patio (if bearable) and have a cold beer in a frosty mug & a plate of fish and chips....I mean really, what better combo is there.

The ambience is like English garden meets an Irish pub. It  is cute, old, and creaky, all at the same time..but charming as well.

Lunch time is not too bad either, just make sure you're in no hurry...because they certainly are not.

Their caesar salad and shepard's pie are thumbs up too.

When they are opened as per their posted business hours...it's not half bad...

The food has gotten SO MUCH better...the menu is pretty English Basic...but does heavily accommodate the American palate (not a bad thing) but lately their SPECIALS have been off the chain!  Seriously, who is rocking in the kitchen these days?

The bar is basic but perfect for me...(no draft pitchers...take it to the Brake Pad for that...)...and the staff is always pretty cool and professional with some stand-out personalities.  There is an extreme lack of good restaurants over here in the Tri-Cities, but even if this were not the case, Manchester Arms would still have it's own charm.

**do be aware that they are strangely and sporadically closed...the hours here say they open at 4p on Saturdays but that is not always true...if you plan on anything more than a drop by...call ahead to see if they are indeed opened.

***also, if you are new to the area...this street offers the best late-day sun...you can sit and soak up the Vitamin D long after pubs around the corner have been cast in shadows...

While visiting Atlanta on a business trip, we were looking for a decently-reviewed restaurant on Yelp.  There was nothing in our area that sounded good, but we did find Manchester Arms and it's good reviews.

After a 40 minute drive through heavy rain and pitch darkness, we found the Manchester and went in, only to find that we were crashing a company Christmas party.  A party guest invited us in, pointed us to the free bar and said that he would make sure we were taken care of.

The restaurant owner, John, quickly appeared and said that he would have the kitchen cook some suppers for us and told us to relax and have a good time.  He provided some of the best bangers I've had in a long time (and I am a banger connoisseur) and was a genuinely caring, warm and courteous host.

I can only attest to the quality of the meal provided and the kindness of our hosts.  Based on these two facts, The Manchester Arms is on the top of my list of places to go in Atlanta.  John has managed to capture the caring and spirit of a true English pub owner - any guest in your pub is to be taken care of, no matter what.

Great Food, great beer, great staff, great customers!

I drove past this beautiful British pub a couple of times on my way to the Ethiopian Restaurant down the street and finally stopped in.  Both the staff and the customers are wonderful.  I think one of the other reviewers compared it to Cheers.  Well I've been to a lot of places like Cheers, where it's predominantly a local crowd and many times you are made to feel like an outsider.  Definitely not here!

When I visited, I was nearing the end of a 3-week business trip.  The only real interactions I'd had with other people were work related.  It was wonderful to walk into the pub and immediately be treated as if I'd been coming there for years.

I will definitely be back for more Boddington's and shephard's pie.

A very nice British pub in a remodeled house in College Park.  Also, Boddington's on tap was a very nice feature.

The pork chop special was very large and the Guinness and steak pie was very tasty.  Don't fill up too much on the blue cheese chips before dinner, however.

The only downside was that the parking lot was hard to find--a lot more lights and better signage is needed outside.

4 guys from California on their way to Ireland with a 4 hour layover in Atlanta, Ga. What to do... What to do...

So, since hanging around in an airport terminal for 4 hours didn't seem like a great idea, I hopped onto yelp, and asked the ATL Yelper's, for some ideas, luckily Gretchen O, happened to have found this place recently, and it was one of the suggestions! Thanks Gretchen!

So, we hop off the plane, have a brief moment of "do we really want to leave the worlds busiest airport on a Friday afternoon" then during the midst of all the indecision, I say F it, lets roll!  (For the record I dont suggest you risk missing your own flights, thats just how we roll)!

Off to find the cab line, 4 of us and all our carry ons etc hop in the cab, I bust out the trusty iPhone, get the directions for the cabby via Google maps, and we are on our way! Took maybe 7 minutes to get there!

Cabby drops us off, theres a few tables seated on the patio, we go in to the bar, there is one lady at the end of the bar, and one bartender behind the bar!

We stroll in, luggage in tow, pull up 4 bar stools! And soon found ourselves at home! They ask where we are from and how long we are here, we tell them we are from Cali,  just here for a couple hours on a layover to Ireland, and I ask how hard it is to catch a cab back,  barkeep says they are usually here with in two minutes, the lady says if theres any trouble, someone here will take you back!  AWESOME!

Food was great, we got a few dishes and split them up between us:

Guinness marinated Rib Eye (Seriously this was soooooo gooood!)
Fish N Chips (battered with Boddingtons) Yum!
Shrimp N Grits  (Good, but for my money, I'd rather have had two steaks!) ;)

    4.5 stars for the food
    4 stars for the drinks
    6 stars for the service!

We had tons of good conversation with the barkeep, the owners lady, one of the reps from the local bar supply distributer's, met one of the owners, it couldn't have been planned any better!

As we were finishing our last pint, we asked the barkeep to call us a cab... The cab  was outside waiting before we even realized he had even been called!

My only complaint is that they are closed Sundays, which is when our flight home is!

Thanks Manchester Arms! See ya next layover!

Tucked away in College Park this British Style Pub is the real deal.   The Manchester really reminded me of pubs I went to in the UK.   A great draught beer list and the food is great as well.   It is quiet and relaxed and even has a good selection of board games.

If you are picking someone up at the airport....leave early and have a pint and have them call you when they have their bags at baggage claim.

    The Best Pub in Atlanta

It's located in an unusual spot of town near the Airport but tucked away in a neighborhood headed North on Virginia Avenue in College Park. The pub is housed in a beautiful converted Tudor Home and has a large patio nestled between a church and neighborhood The atmosphere is as original as any Pub I have ever visited and provides a very welcome feeling.

We started with the Duck Wings covered in sweet and sour sauce. It was their special for the night and we tried. The wings were very good, tender and flavorful. Those were gobbled up pretty quickly.

Next on the main course was Bangers and Mash. They consisted of several sausages on top of in garlic mashed potatoes with fresh veggies and dark gravy. This was a superb dish, not as plentiful as Pub71's but very, very good. You won't be disappointed with this selection if you make it.

The Fish and Chips is their signature. There isn't a spot in Atlanta which can come close to this one. The batter is lighter than most, with almost a tempura batter flavor. You get a couple of pieces of delightful fish, none which you have experienced before. The Fries were good, but not over the top. They could be over the top if they made their own fresh cut fries. But a far as it goes, no one can touch these guys on the Fish and Chips.

The service is good and the menu pricing is affordable; in fact the value you get for the quality of food is great.

The food here is still great: this time I had the cod sandwhich and my husband had the fish tacos. I know, I know, not very British but very delishious just the same. We were able to enjoy the patio- it was very busy with several large groups and patrons inside and outside.

I am taking away a star for the service. Our server seemed perfectly nice and we also received a visit from what I beleive to be the manager but service was very slow. Mr Server, I know you were busy so I won't come down too hard, but you did not check on us very often and our check took a while to come out.
That said, I will return for the food and the fabulous little patio.

I've never eaten here, but the old school bowling game is enough for me to come back.

They also had the obligatory Golden Tee (which I refuse to play), in addition to darts and my all time favorite Big Buck Hunter.

Anyway, we had a fun time, and the manager gave us some extra quarters when he saw that we were in a stalemate and out of coinage.

Went for dinner on a Thursday night during a big thunderstorm. Would have been nice to sit outside if the weather had been good. Fair number of people, mostly at the bar. We sat ourselves because none of the wait staff was in the front when we got there. Once they noticed us, they were very friendly. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with onions and melted pepper jack cheese. Very tasty, nothing to write Food & Wine about, but good. My boyfriend had the fish and chips and a Guinness. He said the fish and chips were decent, kind of pricey for bar food, but the Guinness was poured perfectly.

Definitely looks like a good place to hang out and have a few beers, food could be better and a little cheaper.

I don't eat here enough.  Plain and simple.  This is probably my favorite place to grab some Fish n' Chips and a Guinness.  I am never disappointed in any meal (or beer) that I get here.  It beats the pants off any other Gastro Pub I have been to in a long while.  Trust myself and they the other Yelpers that this place is a must visit.

THE BOTTOM LINE -- Why are you still reading this?  Get your butt in gear and get down to the pub!!

Went there last night to see if this place lived up to the hype, and all I can say is HELL YA!!!!  The best fish and chips in town, hands down, and the fish was perfectly cooked.  The Sheppard's pie is also great, and the place it-self is great.
If you are looking for a true pub, where the music is not so loud that you have to scream to talk, this is it.  I spoke with the owner for about 15 minutes and he told me it is an older crowd, 30 and up.... which is great for me.
This place was great from top to bottom; even the bathroom was clean and nice.  Looking forward to going back and trying other items on the menu, and using the patio to sit and enjoy the weather.

I don't often venture this close to the Perimeter, or to the southside of town, but I met some girlfriends at this pub for a weeknight dinner. I am now intensely envious that this place is in College Park.

The pub is housed in a really lovely converted Tudor house with a large patio nestled between a wooded area, a church and a residential neighborhood on Virginia Avenue. The atmosphere is as charming as the architechture (which includes a stunning arch-shaped entry door). I walked in to find a small bar, cozy tables and friendly, laid-back, attentive staff.

We were seated in the upstairs space which has exposed beams, but, somehow, feels cozy and not at all echoey. We ordered beers which came quickly (impressive considering how many times the poor server had to climb the stairs!), and then ordered fish and chips and the steak-and-Guinness pie. Our dishes arrived quickly, and they were hot and delicious. The fish was crisp on the outside with just the right proportion of breading to cod and not too greasy. The chips (i.e. fries) were also crisp on the outside, but soft and steamy on the inside. The fish needed a little salt for our taste, but it was perfect with a drizzle of malt vinegar. I haven't had fish and chips like this since I was in London.

I didn't try the steak-and-Guinness pie, but it looked and smelled amazing, and my companion's plate was nearly licked clean, so I think it was also excellent.

We then ordered the bread pudding and the Guinness brownie, the two desserts our server reported are prepared on-premises. The bread pudding was decent. The Guinness brownie was transcendent. Soft, chocolatey, not-too-sweet. I'm not a sweets person, but this brownie is everything that a brownie should be and more. The kind of brownie that two bites is enough to satisfy because it's so rich and gooey and perfect. *drool*

Our server happily split our checks, and the meal was more than reasonably priced for the excellent service, the homey atmosphere and the high-quality food. I was skeptical about the experience I would have venturing down south, but I left with a happy belly full of delicious food and happy memories of a place that is ideal for a get-together with good friends. Even if it is nearly OTP. ;)
