I used to be a skyclub member and and when I made diamond a couple years ago, I had it comped. Â When Idropped back to Platinum, I didn't bother renewing because of how overcrowded the clubs were becoming. Â It was hard to find a seat and electrical outlet during peak times, they started to remove the work cubicles out of clubs and the wifi was spotty. Â Â
I can still access the skyclub on international flights and am glad with the recent alcohol changes I didn't pay to renew. Â In the past it was complimentary midshelf vodka and Gin, those have been replaced with Gordon's. Â They are now charging $7 for a measured shot of Bailey's!!! Â The free alcohol is awful and the alcohol they charge for you can get at a concourse restaurant or bar for less and a stronger pour. Â There were only two beer choices and it was lousy beer like bud or miller on tap.
On my international trip a couple weeks back, we were travelling with another couple that had no status, but since they were on a business class ticket as well they were also able to enter the Skyclub for free. Â One of the perks of an international business class ticket is free club access. Â Â They fly international a couple times a year and were shocked at how poor the alcohol selections were on a $7,500 RT ticket.
About a month ago I was flying back from Vegas to RI (redeye flight), and had a three hour layover in ATL. I decided to use my Delta Skymiles Club membership perk and check in here for the duration of my layover. I arrived in Atlanta at about 6AM Eastern, so talk about being exhausted! Part of my reason of coming to this location was it was right where my departing flight was going to be at 9AM. I think at this point I was so zonked from being up for almost 24+ hours straight I'd fall right asleep. I ended up having coffee and a stale bagel (hadn't had anything to eat in about 10 hours). Â I know Atlanta is home to Delta, and there's about seven total Sky Clubs at this airport alone, but I just really wish I had chosen a different one at Hartsfield. It was quiet, and I was glad I was able to take a nap. However, I think I picked the one club in the whole airport that didn't have showers (unless I missed them?). I've been to a few other Sky Clubs, and this one was my least favorite. Maybe I just caught it at an off time. I must say though, the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating.
