We've been frequenting the Mandarin restaurants in Deptford and Sewell for years. Â While the service at this location is definitely far gruffer than at sister location (as noted by other yelpers), the sushi is really good for SJ. Â And we actually got some very pleasant service last week. Â It only took 8 years, haha. Â But seriously, 8 years at least.
The Chinese food isn't knock your socks off quality, but it's decent enough. Â They are open to modifications and requests. Â It's the sushi that keeps us coming back here though. Â The fish is fresh, the rice is well-seasoned & the rolls are delicious and large. Â They get busy on weekeds, but I'd far rather wait a little than go to a slow sushi joint, you know? Â Worth the wait.
Ordered lunch from here (my first time eating here) and I more than likely will not be ordering again. Big disappointment. I ordered the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce with wonton soup and an egg roll. The shrimp were so tiny and dried out I thought I was eating a reconstituted MRE. The wonton soup consisted of two tiny little wonton dumplings in a pint of broth. Seriously?? And the egg roll was over cooked. Â To top it all off, instead of putting 2 or 3 fortune cookies in the bag, they filled a plastic baggy with one duck sauce, one soy sauce, one mustard sauce and ONE fortune coookie. Talk about being cheap!!
While the flavor of the food wasn't all that bad, I am not impressed with how they are apparently trying to cut corners. Anywhere else I order Chinese food from, the shrimp in this same dish are large and succulent and the wonton soup is full of wonton not just two small floaters. If this lunchtime combo was any indication of what's to expect, then I will NOT be returning.
