Great burgers, if you like 'em thick. Probably the best thick burgers in town. Good fries too, with a rather unique look and taste.
This is definitively more of a pub/tavern that a family-type place. We brought kids, but this was fine because it was early and not crowded with drunkards.
Upstairs outdoor seating is a bit awkward (it's not really connected to the restaurant), but has good views of Cathedral Ledge.
We will probably start including this in our normal rotation of restaurants for North Conway.
Certainly worth a shot.
We went here with another couple on a recommendation and I am glad that we did. They have a decent selection of beers and the food is delicious. I had the pork shank special and it was amazing! Pork was falling off the bone and seasoned very well. Â The scallops and tuna were pretty good. Â The pot roast was also very good and a huge portion. Â All in all it was reasonably priced and the food quality was very good. Â Everything made from scratch and you could tell.
Review Source:We tried to eat here Sunday night at about 5:15. Â There was one table of 4 in the restaurant when we were seated. Â 15 Minutes later we got up and left as our waiter had not even come over to explainb his delay or to ask if we wanted cocktails. Â It's not exactly like he could have been busy with one other party. Â We found someplace much better and have no plans to return.
Review Source:Awesome dinner & drinks to wrap up our weekend in North Conway! We sat in the bar area and the atmosphere and design were 5 star. From the huge hunk of granite that was the bar top to the stone walls and copper ceiling, this bar is beautiful! The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The melt in your mouth pot roast dinner was  amazing as was the butternut squash we chose to have it over, instead of the mashed potatoes. We also had the nachos~ which were huge and tasty (with banana peppers- nice touch), a cheese burger, 2 s'mores martinis and 2 beers. Good selection of tap beers & reasonable prices. Our total bill was around $65 for the best dinner ever at a pub. Do not miss McGrath's!
Review Source:We enjoyed the top deck patio on a sunny autumn afternoon. Â Husband had the local beer and what he said was one of the best ruebens he has ever had. Â I had my usual salad which was delicious.
The top deck is huge with umbrellas for some relief from the sun. Â
We stepped into the bar and got the usual 'elevator eyes' from the folks bellying up to the bar .It was dark in there, so we opted to eat in the sunlight.
I am so glad we gave this place a try. Â When in the area, I would try it again.
We came here after being told at Moat Mountain that we'd have to wait an hour for a table. Â We were starving and decided to look elsewhere. Â We saw this place and decided to give it a shot, since we usually love Irish pubs. Â
Although it was almost completely empty, it still took an unusually long time for the hostess to clean off a table for us in the dining room. Â Had I known that, I would have just sat at one of the high tops in the bar area.
They had a decent selection of  beer, including the Moat Mountain seasonal brew (which was blueberry, despite it being September, which I found odd), but I didn't really see anything too appealing to me on the menu.  I ended up going with the port penne pasta, with shrimp added.  It was not good.  You know that spreadable port-cheddar cheese that comes in a plastic tub?  It tasted exactly like that, which would be fine if I was spreading it on crackers, but I don't want that smothered all over my pasta.  The shrimp were small, did not taste good in the sauce, and were not worth the $5 added cost.  All together, it was a $20 plate that I didn't enjoy at all.  Even though I barely touched the pasta, our server didn't even ask me if I wanted a to-go box to take the leftovers with me.  It's almost like she knew I didn't want it.  The boyfriend got the bacon bleu burger, which he seemed to enjoy enough... though it's pretty tough to screw up a burger.
I will say, they had a very large back deck that I'm sure would be a great place to hang out for drinks in the summer... but overall I just wasn't impressed by this place.
We just stopped in for a bite enroute from Maine. Even though we plainly wouldn't be ordering big, the waitress treated us like her best customers of the night. While we were waiting for our food (not a long wait at all) the manager checked to make sure we had been helped. Music was pleasant and not over-loud.
Chowder was thick, buttery, chunky, creamy with nice bacon and pepper favors and big clams. Caesar salad was crispy with a light dressing and generously covered in shavings of cheese.
To sum up: Â very good food, nice old-house ambiance, superb service. Â Altogether a fine experience. Would definitely come again.
My husband and I had a nice lunch on the outside deck on a beautiful day. Â I had a martini and I wish I remembered the name of it, it was awesome. Â Â We started with they Irish nachos and really enjoyed them. Â We both had specials. Â I had the chicken Parmesan sandwich, which was good, but could have used just a little more sauce. Â I'm sure I could have asked for me, but we were just enjoying a laid back time on the deck. Â My husband had the prime rib sandwich and really enjoyed it. Â The fries that came with the sandwiches were great. Â Â We had dinner here once before and enjoyed that also. Â They have a great bar area. Â It's definitely worth a try.
Review Source:We were passing through North Conway, saw McGrath's (had never noticed it before) and decided to stop in. Â I'm glad we did! Â It turns out McGrath's is fairly new and, in my opinion, it's, by far, the best new restaurant in North Conway, if not the best period.
As soon as you walk inside you know you're walking into a true down home pub. Â We were seated promptly and greeted with fast friendly service. Â Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgable about the menu. Â The menu had a little bit of everything but I didn't find it overwhelming and although they did have standard pub-fair on the menu, I was surprised by how much more they had than that. Â The drink selection was pretty impressive too. Â
The food... Â What can I say? Â It was delicious! Â My wife and I started off with nachos and we found them to be generous in size and amount of ingredients on the chips. Â We both ended up ordering burgers. Â They were juicy, thick and delicious and it was like no other burger I've ever had before. Â It was "dense" (for lack of a better word). Â After being less than half-way through, I started to get really full. Â But, nonetheless, I carried on and finished the rest of the burger and that could have been a mistake. Â It ended up being a little too filling and somewhat of an uncomfortable ride back home. Â It's the first time I can ever recall forgoing breakfast the following morning because I was full. Â That's a pretty good problem to have, if you ask me! Â The fries were good too. Â I'm not sure what possessed me to order desert. Â I was able to get a couple of bites down of my Sundae. Â The little that I was able to eat was very good!
All of the above gave this place a solid 4-star rating, flirting with a 5. Â The bill we received brought this place over the top and made this into a solid 5 star rating. Â It was cheaper than any other bill we've had in North Conway. Â After tip, it worked out to just over $40.
Will I be going back to McGrath's? Â Yes... Â Again and again and again!
The boyfriend and I walked into McGraths expecting typical Irish pub food. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the menu offerings were a bit more sophisticated than expected.
To start, I tried the Pear Pressure martini. It was just sweet enough and I really enjoyed it. The boyfriend stuck to Sam Adams. We ordered Irish nachos as an appetizer. These potato skins had all the usual nacho toppings, plus banana peppers. Yum!
My only complaint would be that we waited quite a while for our entrees. I attributed this to the fact that we dined there the night they reopened after a month of remodeling, so maybe they were just getting back on pace. Regardless, we weren't in a rush or super hungry, so I didn't really mind the wait... and when the food finally came we were very impressed.
Boyfriend had a volcano burger with spicy chipotle and fries, while I had a salmon burger with lemon aioli and chips. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The aioli really complimented the salmon burger well, and the homemade chips and fries were AMAZING.
The staff, especially the host who greeted us at the door, was very friendly and welcoming. I liked the food and the vibe, and I would definitely return next time I'm in the area.
I can't help but wonder who wrote the glowing reviews of McGrath's.  My party of four ate there last night and the food wasn't awful, but it definitely wasn't good.  It was about the quality that you would expect from a mediocre diner.  The Guinness stew consisted of some chewy lamb chunks  -  still pink on the inside  -  sitting in a pool of bland gravy.  It appeared to be some quickly fried meat that was added to some canned gravy and was obviously made by someone who had never learned the art of braising a piece of meat.  (A proper stew would have been simmered for hours, producing fork tender chunks of meat.)  The pot roast and a pasta special were similarly underwhelming.  The best dish was the fried chicken breast and leg, although it was comparable to what you would get from the Kentucky Colonel for a quarter of McGrath's price.  On the plus side, the service was fine.
