We have gone to McKeown's ever since they were located in the outlet malls in Seaside ten years ago, and we've never been disappointed. Besides having a basset hound in their logo, they serve good food with excellent service.
This is our second visit to the location in downtown Seaside. It was easy to find free parking, and the restaurant features a French sidewalk cafe style along one wall with well-spaced tables and a bar at the back of the room. Since we were last there, they expanded into the building next door and added an Irish pub.
There was a slight delay seating us in an almost empty place when we came in shortly before noon. Two servers took care of the whole room. I had the Prime Rib sandwich, and my wife had the pulled pork. My sandwich was thick and juicy, and the sauce was wonderful. Unfortunately, I hit a pocket of gristle on my first bite. Having known some hard times, I just chewed through it and the rest was tender and fine. Â My wife said her sandwich was also tasty.
I had a diet coke because we were driving up the coast later, so I couldn't taste their fine selection of local brews on tap.
All in all, just fine. Nothing special, just solid bar food and service.
By far my favorite place in Seaside....anyone who knows me will tell you this! Â Great family atmosphere, great menu with plenty of choices. Â During the off-season they have Wednesday $10 steak night that is fantastic! Â My favorite salad is the Chicken Blue Cheese Salad, it has a yummy champagne vinaigrette dressing. Â My husband either gets the ribeye or the chicken Marsala, both excellent. Â The chefs are well skilled on properly cooking your steak to order. Â You can tell that the owners take pride in what they do and they care about giving the customer the best experience possible! Â
P.S. They have an awesome Irish Pub behind the restaurant with a killer Irish Coffee!
