Have been twice and think it is pretty good. Â Service was excellent (perhaps they've read the yelp reviews and had some serious "sit down and come to Jesus " conversations with their staff... Can't say too much bc I ordered the same thing both times: tri tip sandwich, which was excellent. Â Sadly my friend Jeff ordered the fish tacos (I know, I know...it's a BBQ place)...but he specifically made a point to ask how they were and even added a "really???" when the waitress said they were good. Â Verdict? Â Don't order fish tacos in a BBQ joint: no seasoning...bummer. Â My kids were enthralled by all the mounted animal heads that are everywhere...depending on their imagination this could go either way. Â In any case, we've been told of another BBQ place in Templeton that we will check out next time...apparently they, too, sport the stuffed animal head decor...and might just have better food.
Review Source:Paso Robles is a favorite stop for us on the way to the coast but this time we decided to stay. The city park area has a quaint feel to it and while shopping in the area we noticed McLintocks. The cowboy-ish style peaked out interest so we stopped in.
Greeted immediately and brought to a table where we could see the bar TV. Our waitress was there within moments and with a constant smile, took out drink order. Although it was well past breakfast, but not yet lunch, I ordered the biscuit's & gravy, wife ordered the ham & eggs. WOW! Big ham!!!! She couldn't eat it all so lucky me, I got half. My gravy was fantastic, even though my belly can't tolerate spices it had just the right amount without being overbearing. Oh, and the Bloody Mary's were customer made for me because of my inability to take spices, nice customer service issue here!
Both were excellent, cooked to order and at a decent price. We loved the food, atmosphere and service so much that we're planning on returning for dinner. Stated simply, a very nice place!
Went there for brunch. Â Â When we arrived we were seated in a booth. Â Â The hostess said a server would be with us shortly. Â Â About 5 minutes passed then someone other than out server took our drink order, which consisted of three waters. Â After receiving our drinks we were left at our table unattended to for at least 15 minutes. Â I then went and asked for a manager and brought the lack of service to her attention. Â Our sever arrived shortly after and took our order. Â We then waited patiently for our food but after a half hour to forty-five minutes no food was in sight. Â We then asked the manager about the status of our order she replied with attitude "I am checking on it now". Â We then packed up out belongings and went to the Downtown Brewery where the service was seamless. Â Â
I understand that restaurants have their challenges like any other business and mistakes are made. Â I refuse to support businesses who fail to communicate what is going on or treats me poorly as a customer. Â Â
This is not the first time I have received sub par service here buy definitely the worst. Â Â
I would rate this establishment as zero stars but my app won't allow it. Â I hope the service here improves for others sake. Â I don't plan on returning.
F.Mclintocks truly represents Paso Robles as an agricultural community, from their home cooked style meals to the decor. It's a great place for families with children to enjoy the closed dining room, or meeting friends at their historic saloon style bar.
They run daily food and drink specials, and have the best happy hour in town! From 3pm to 7pm, and Monday's all day!
They even have live music on Thursday's and weekends!
The downtown blocks of Paso Robles have always been a favorite haunt of ours, one of the primary reasons for moving here for early retirement. McLintocks has all the amenities we look for in a hometown bar/restaurant. Afternoon Happy Hours (and all day Monday's) serve to provide a great atmosphere with outstanding food at good prices and friendly service with a smile. McLintocks has become a weekly stop where we feel welcomed! A good recommendation here!
Review Source:This is my third try at beating the Baron of Higuera burger challenge. Â I'm oh for three. Â I know I'm a wuss and can't eat a pound and a half burger and fries. Â But that's not the point. Â The Baron is a great burger. Â I think since they have to make it special they take a little more care with it. Â Order it medium and the first two quarters of the burger a amazing. Â Juicy, flavorful goodness. Â The second half (at least for me) suck because I'm super full and just want the t-shirt for finishing soooo bad.
So, if anyone wants to make a quick 20 bucks, let me know if you can beat this challenge and get me my t-shirt. Â I tried to bribe the waitress last time and she wasn't having it.
Also. Â If you have never had the trail camp beans, you suck and your life has no meaning.
What a wonderful, easy place to eat in Paso Robles. Â We took my 96 year old uncle there and they treated him like gold. Plus there was no corkage fee for bringing a local wine! Â After a great and reasonably priced meal- we all had filet mignon with plenty of sides- they all sang happy birthday to him in a unique way. Â I will return!
Review Source:Another location to get "meat". The ribs and tri-tip are great. The company had our Christmas party here and we were able to have some of everything: pork chicken, tri-tip and all the sides. The salad was kind of blah, but everything else was well done. I like the decor and it's all good conversation fodder. Â The staff is friendly and pleasant. Be careful at lunch and dinner because they can be very busy.
Review Source:Hands Down (Or Up, if that's your thing), the best dad-gum burger this side of the Mississippi. This is a great place if your doing the Paso Robles wine thing and don't want the hoitey-toiteyness of other cafe's and downtown Bistros.
Also of very importance - their french fries blows away any others i have had in recent months.
The service on a Wednesday 1:30 PM Holiday Week was great. The bartendress was prompt, friendly, and responsive.
Order the Firestone Draft as they brew it less than 3 miles from Saloon.
Tab for the afternnoon including two 16 oz. Â drafts $30 Bucks plus $5 tip.
Three Hoots on a Two Hoot scale
Hoo Hoo Hoo!!!
My  experiment here was terrible!! My fiance and i went a year or two ago for our anniversary. First of all, it was completely dead on lunch time, which should have been a huge sign. We stood at the door for about 10 minutes before a girl came to seat us. After we were seated the waitress who did not introduce herself disappeared. We did not get any drinks. After about 20 minutes of absolutely no service or anyone is sight for that matter, we left. I have yet to see that place busy or hear anything decent about it. So glad the F McLintocks in SLO is here, it's 100% better. Very disappointed. We have yet to step foot in there since.
Review Source:As a native of Atascadero, CA just south of Paso Robles, our family and friends have visited McLintocks many times over the years. The service from the staff has had its ups and downs over the years, but the food has generally been solid.
If you do hit this place up, I recommend calling in advance to get a reservation, especially on a weekend. Paso is a huge tourist town and trying to fight to get a table or even a spot at the bar can be challenging.
If you are looking for a big burger, steak, or even salad this is a great place to come! The portions are big and the meat is tasty.
The country style atmosphere makes this a great place to stop by and have a drink (or two).
They have a great happy hour from 5-7 and Mondays happy hour is all day! You cant beat it!
I would suggest sitting in the bar section.
This place is a cute, kitchy, cowboy style place to eat. Â The atmosphere puts you back on a ranch in the country.
The menu boasts of different cuts of meats, preparations, and bbq. Â They instruct you how they cook their meats (rare, medium-rare, medium - well, well-done). Â However, the chef needs to be on board and cook the meat appropriately as requested for all cuts of meat.
My sister ordered the rib eye medium rare and it was perfectly done.
My son ordered the bacon wrapped filet mignon medium rare and was disappointed that it came out medium well.
The simple seasoning of salt and pepper on meats would be good on quality cut meats, but it just didn't seem that so for us.
My sister and I ordered the special which was a sampler of tri-tip, chicken, and beef ribs. Â It seemed all overdone and dry. Â BBQ sauce they gave with it was ok...I like my homemade jack daniels BBQ sauce better.
This place was recommended by one of the wineries we visited. Â Maybe because we had kids along with us, they thought it would be fun...but I think it's just an okay place.
Having been coming to McLintocks for decades, I am still a big fan. The food is consistent and very good. These people know how to BBQ and it shows. The surroundings are very western and always interesting. Service has always been good, even when there are crowds. With a FULL bar come on in for a gimlet and any part of the cow you like. I am always glad I did.
Review Source:The Baron...'nuff said! Â I like this place, been here a few times while visiting Paso. Â Food is great, service is mediocre... Its one of the best tasting burger meat you could have... and on a side note, the Ranch dressing is AMAZING! Â
Eat the Baron if you dare, I have 2 pictures on the wall! Â :D
Unfortunately, no amount of wine tasting in the world is going to cover up the fact that the food here is mediocre and the service is just plain abysmal. If you're the kind of person who either likes to look at dead animals or if you want a bunch of 'em staring at you while you eat, then you're in luck because this place is hunter heaven.
We shared nachos and a burger with fries. Nachos were nondescript bordering on gross and while the burger was slightly better, I wouldn't exactly call it good.
Our waitress started out okay but then disappeared for long stretches of time. I'm pretty sure she not only forgot about us, but to also put in the rest of our order. The wait time was horrible.
There are too many great places in Paso to waste your time and money here. If it weren't for it's decent downtown location I'm not sure this place would exist.
It was in here that I noticed alot of locals all speak with a drawl. Which I found interesting being from out of state.
The food was pretty good, I had the pull pork sandwich because the waitress recommended it as being one of the favorites next to the tri-tip sandwich. Heck, even the fries were good. Â Enjoyed the Firestone Velvet merlin on tap (which as it turns out is the local brewery) I'd go back. Service was fast and food was good enough for a repeat. The decor is very saloonish, high tin ceilings long shot gun bar with plenty of room for booths.
I was in town on business and found myself with very few places to go on Easter Sunday. So me and a friend went in here and were treated well, great attitude and service, excellent cocktails, and the food was excellent - way above expectations. I had the 8oz Sirloin and my friend had a hamburger. It's a casual place w/ a lot to choose from. My steak was prepared perfectly and it was served w/ veggies, mashed potatoes, and a nice large crisp salad. We were lucky enough to chat w/ the GM, Neil and a cute waitress, Sara. They gave us info on places to check out like C15 and some Buon Tavola. Great friendly and helpful people, good comfort food and excellent service!! Oh, and extremely reasonable prices - a nice steak for under 15 dollars.
Review Source:Disclaimer: Â I didn't eat here. Â Because they wouldn't let me.
We went there on a Sunday, at noon, for lunch. Â We were seated quickly, and given a breakfast menu. Â While I recognize that it was a Sunday, I was in the mood for lunch food and asked for a lunch menu. Â The waitress told me that she didn't think the lunch menu would be available for a while, because the kitchen hadn't yet made the switch.
She went and asked and came back and told us that it would be 12:30 before they would be willing to take a lunch order. Â We looked at each other and got up and left. Â It's a restaurant, come on. Â It's not like I was asking for lunch at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday - I thought the refusal to offer a lunch menu was kind of ridiculous.
Alls I know for sure is that they make good chip shots here (coffee, Baileys & Tuaca) as well as the bartender's own made concoctions like the Pumpkin Pie martini (sounds worse than it really is!). Also, who doesn't love a saloon replete with dead animals and skins all over the wall? Just like being in Texas.
Review Source:We lucked into this place looking to grab a burger in Paso Robles after 9 pm. Â
Everything here was a pleasant surprise. Â The portions are generous. Â The salads that come with the burgers are more than an afterthought. Â I had a spinach salad and Andy S had the Caesar. Â
The burgers come with more fries than anyone should be able to eat, but some of us manage to. Â ;)
We stopped for a late lunch on a Friday. We had to park 3 blocks away because of construction. We were seated promptly and got our drinks right away, refills were, well few and far between.
My wife had a mushroom chicken sandwich and I had a western burger. When they were delivered to our table our first thought was, holy cow that's big!!!!
I bit into the hamburger and was in heaven; thick bacon, BBQ sauce, cheese- excellent. The fries were, disappointing.
My wife bit into her sandwich and I immediately saw a problem; she pulled it apart and on one side it looked ok, on the other it was burned to a charcoaled crisp. How anyone could serve this is beyond me?????
Then I tried to locate our server. Now mind you this is around 2 pm, no lunch rush. I couldn't find her. I waited patiently for about 5 minutes and finally approached the person at the register and asked him to get her for us. When she showed up and we showed her the "blackened" chicken breast her comment was, "A little too done for you?" Are you kidding me!?!?!?!! It was burnt (BURNT). She informed us that she could order another one but it would take 10 minutes to cook. We told her to do so and, imagine that, 10 minutes later my wife had a chicken breast on a side plate carried to her to incorporate into the existing sandwich? Wouldn't it have been more appropriate for her to bring a complete redo? Fresh fries, etc? I guess not.
50-50 here. My lunch was great, my wife's was burnt, no service, no drink refills, no offer to compensate us for the inconvenience.
I must admit I liked my hamburger, the service, cooks and parking make this place a one time stop for us.
This place was basically across the street from the Arroyo Robles Wine Tasting Room and the menu looked pretty good so we decided to grab a quick lunch here before heading down the street to the Firestone Walker Brewery. Â We got a tri tip sandwich with garlic fries and we got potato skins with cheese, sour cream, and bacon. Â The service was friendly and prompt and the food was pretty good overall. Â The tri tip, while tender was a little on the dry side, and the bbq sauce that came on the side helped moisten it up a bit. Â That is generally not my favorite way to have tri tip, but it got the job done.
Review Source:paso does fine wine, but they don't really do fine dining. at least not compared to sf.
the decor is modern day cowboy musem maintained by country folk. the food is large and beef, with a side of beef if you like. the wait staff is young and energetic. overall this place was the paso robles equivalent of a claim jumper.
personally l like them better than claim jumper by just a bit.
We rolled into town a little too early for lunch at 11 am. Â They don't start serving lunch on the weekends until 11:30. Â So, we had some breakfast and it was quite good. Â Their breakfast potatoes were outrageously delicious.
The place is decorated with stuffed animal heads on the walls. Â Also, they put the names of some of their customers on the wall and give them a symbol like one that would be used on a ranch.
I am not sure the food is the best in town. Â But the vibe is awesome, the draft Firestone is fresh and cold, and the people are friendly. Â I like the nachos in particular with the Santa Maria style pinquito beans. Â The burgers are gigantic and sloppy as you would expect.
Nice place to detox with a cold beer after a full day of wine drinking :)
