Went this morning for breakfast before heading out to Crater Lake. I was expecting greasy diner food and weak coffee and that's exactly what I got. The portions were huge, and completely adequate.

My husband and I appeared to be one of only two tables of non-locals. You could spot us by our REI/North Face attire. Everyone else was dressed in some form of camo and knew either the servers or the other patrons. The staff treated us warmly and the food delivered in a matter of minutes. Really, great service.

On a two week RV caravel travel trip thru out OR and CA we were in a very dense area and very hungry! This was a GREAT stop for a perfect breakfast!  All 11 of us had very enjoyable meals!

Been coming here for years and their food is very good but not necessarily exceptional. However, recently they added pizza to their menu and it is both great, massive in size and very well priced. Some of the best pizza in the Klamath Basin. Highly recommended!

Had lunch at Melita's Cafe today while on the road to Alturas, CA.
We both had burgers, which were excellent.  One of us had the home cooked potatoes chips, and the other the home cut French fries.
    Excellent meal, and great service.

A large group of us descended on Melita's Cafe on a recent Friday, on the first day of our weekend birding field trip through the Klamath Marsh and vicinity. We got our dinners on time and with nothing forgotten, and they even let us order to-go lunches for the next day. The next morning when we all tromped in to get our lunches (which were not only ready, but they'd thrown in some nice extras), some of us wanted to-go breakfasts and coffee so the staff pretty much dropped everything to help us. All that urgent ordering and standing at the counter could have flustered the staff, but they were sweet, speedy and the food was great. I want to extend a personal Thank You to the other restaurant patrons all of whom waited a very long time for their orders and checks so that the staff could get us on our way. Those in our group who stayed at the motel said it was fine as well. I highly recommend Melita's!

Just caught this place right out of the corner of my eye. Pulled-in and sat right down at a booth and was given a menu by a nice waitress with a pot  in her hand ready to poor me a cup of Joe. I really liked this place because I felt like I was back in time in the sixties. The place is warm and cozy. Enjoyed listening to the locals talk to one another about community business. Really took me back to when people took their time to talk and not drown themselves with their smartphones. Liked the distant country music in the background. Made me know that I was not in Pasadena anymore. They made a omelet and  hash browns, big enough to plow forty acres. Was surprised with the prices too, eight bucks and change. I'll be back, next time with friends when I explore the back roads of beautiful Oregon.

Great place to have a generous and tasty breakfast before setting out to fly fish the Williamson River in Chiloquin. Don't judge a book by its cover or the food by the wear on the menus. This place is a terrific road stop.

Our meals were surprisingly good. Our order got lost in cyber space (orders placed via an iPad) but the waitress made good on the delay by not charging us for one meal without our asking or complaining.  The delay wasn't a problem to us so we left her a nice tip. We visited here thanks to other Yelp reviews as we are staying at the state park and there isn't much around. Would stop by here again.

We only had dinner at the restaurant and it was mediocre "comfort" food. We were there on a week night so it was not busy.  My husband and I waited to be seated for quite some time before the head waitress even said a word to us.  Perhaps it's a hick/red neck thing but she would not even look at us.  She kept on looking down the entire time she spoke to us.  When we finally got seated at one of the many empty tables, the waitress (not head waitress) who waited on us was friendly at least.  If I were ever to head back in that direction towards Crater Lake, I would stop in town at Klamath Falls to eat first before heading out.

Not much to look at from Highway 97, but the cafe has a full bar, with pool table, darts, video poker, satellite TV and an awesome menu of comfort food, from build-your-own burgers to "redneck biscuits and gravy." Practically the only place to eat between K-Falls and Chemult, and worth the stop.

Friendly server (inspite of being very busy on a Sunday), with decent food. Had the "taco" for breakfast. Good quantity, but could use a little less cheese.

Decent food in an area with very few options for miles. Service isn't particularly friendly to non-locals, but it's not unfriendly either. Be prepared to speak up when you are ready to order and when you need more water or your check. It's unlikely someone's going to get to you anytime soon unless you do, but be patient. Go get your own high chair.

Large servings of standard american diner food. Lots of breakfast meat, eggs, and huge pancakes with gobs of delicious whipped butter. Leave any dieting at home. You will not go home hungry.

Basic American fare in the restaurant. Fifties diner ambiance and the staff are very friendly. Food well cooked and plentiful.

Let me start by saying that the options for eating in this area are very minimal and that is being generous. A side from Melitas we could not find a place to eat that gave us any confidence in the food. Melitas itself seemed a little sketchy as we walked in the door. To our surprise, we were very happy with the service and the food. We ordered breakfast and later in the day came back for dinner (very few options, remember). Breakfast was pretty decent with large portions and the dinner menu gave us some good options. This is certainly not upscale but the food is good, portions large and the price is right.

This place was recommended to us by the proprietors of our hotel, so we stopped here on our way home from Crater Lake.    Prices were very reasonable (about $5-$6 for breakfast specials) but the food was only ok.    My mom and I shared eggs, hashbrowns, toast, & French toast.  The hashbrowns were probably the best thing - they were greasy & crispy.  The eggs were the worst: they were very rubbery.   My dad's bacon was seriously burned, but the biscuit he had was pretty good.    They didn't charge for the coffee my parents had, and 3 of us got out of there for around $20.    It wasn't a bad breakfast place, especially considering the limited food options in the area, but I don't know that I would go out of my way to come here.

We were refered to this place for breakfast by the staff at the hotel we stayed at near Crater lake. It was Sat AM so I would expect a busy morning. It was, but there was no wait. Despite this the waitress told us to sit anywhere but the only open table had no chairs. When I asked where we could get some she rolled her eyes and pointed to another room. After grabbing folding chairs for myself and my family, we sat for 15 mins without getting menus, coffee or any apology for the wait. Then, the peeve of all peeves, the waitress brought coffee and menus to a couple sitting right next to us who just sat down (I think she knew them). We got up and left. I try to be understanding as my wife was a waitress for many years. The wait was one thing, But the rudeness was unacceptable. Maybe an off day for them, but I won't be going back. If you are traveling north and looking for breakfast, the wait until the Junction Cafe at 193/97 is well worth it. Super friendly, great food, great prices.

Still the best for the area (Chiloquin/N.County)
Don't buy into the rants of crybabies.

Decent food, Melita's is improving!  A great friendly place to stop for travelers! Kids love the menu. The place looks great!

I'd read some enthusiastically supportive reviews at a different review site for Melita's, so I inked it into my itinerary on a recent roadtrip. My girlfriend and I came in very hungry after a hike and long drive all the way from Sacto, so you'd think we'd gobble just about anything down with aplomb and be satisfied.

I had a feeling that my vegetarian girlfriend wasn't gonna find much on the menu, but the jalapeño and mushroom melt seemed as promising as an oasis looming on a desert horizon. It was basically a garlicky grilled cheese sandwich with pepper rings and mushrooms. Could be a good thing! But alas, the execution was abysmal!

Now, believe me....we're not some kinda weaksauce spice-avoiders! We enjoy some seriously spicy food. But this was face-smoldering lip-torture with zero flavor, and hardly any cheese. We picked all the jalapeños off, and it was still just pure high-Scoville scorching with zero flavor joy. She begrudgingly finished as much as possible due to the fact that we knew that grabbing a snack at a mini-mart would not be possible on this desolate stretch of highway.

I suppose that the filling of my turkey 'n cranberry sandwich was okay, but the bread was just the most sorrowful weakling white bread I've had since grade-school PBJ's.

We both got the homemade potato chips on the side, and we split an unexceptional green salad before the meal. The chips were interesting. The crisp ones were delightful, but probably two-thirds of the chips were undercooked, and some were sopping wet with grease.

Too bad there's so few dining options along Hwy 97 between K-Falls and Chemult. I guess the lack of choices has led to expectation levels plummeting so severely that this passes as a recommendable restaurant. To be sure, the dinner platters that the guests at a neighboring table had looked much better than what we got.

Service was kinda dodgy, too. They were attentive in the early-going, but then avoided us late so that we had to get up and ask for the check.

There's a bar/lounge off the left side of the foyer, too. Maybe it could be a fun adventure, but you should dress up like Elmer Fudd before you go in there, or it could become a different kind of adventure.

There really isn't anywhere else to eat if you are in the area later in the evening.   You can get take out or sit down and eat.  It's diner food.  We got take out burgers and they got the sides wrong.  The burgers were ok, the homemade potato chips greasy, and the potato salad tasted like fish.   I had to ask for forks and napkins after I noticed they weren't in the bag.  It just wasn't great, but it may be all you can get.

Melita's welcoming colorful sign shines out into the lonely darkness of Highway 97. We've stopped here many times for burgers, fries, and dinners. Always left satisfied, never disappointed. It's a real treat to find good food out here in Central Oregon, and good food is what Melita's serves up. Nothing fancy, but it is good. The menu has the requisite huge selection of fried stuff and bar food. I think the best is the chicken strip platter- three giant chicken strips, tender, juicy, and crispy. The burgers are very lean, not at all greasy. The homemade potato chips are thick and crunchy, great for scooping up ketchup or covering with salt. I've never had enough appetite after lunch to go for a piece of homemade pie or one of their sundaes, but they do look really good.
Unlike most places out here, they keep *reliable* regular hours and stay open pretty late.
