I have never had the BBQ, but it smelled pretty delish when I stopped by, so I'd be up for some nibbles!

SERIOUS beer selection. Dentonites, get your beer here! Vast selection and the pricing is on par with Central Market/Mr. G's when it comes to the more impressive beer finds. Absolutely a place worth supporting!

My BBQ experience here is limited as I've only had a chopped meat baked potato which was fine (the potato was a little hard but no major complaints) so I'm only reviewing on the German offerings and the beer selection. Beer and wine, is 4 stars easy. Not quite as varied as Midway Mart, but maybe a little more accessible to the average beer drinker (of which I definitely am.) The german plate with all bratwurst is my go-to dish. Scrumptious little slices of real bratwurst that HASN'T been grilled, which is all too rare. The german potato salad is fantastic, as is the sauerkraut. It's not AMAZING food, and the portions are a little wonky sometimes, but it's filling and cures that random German craving you might have once in awhile.

Get your food and a 6-pack to go so you can enjoy it in your own home, as there's no "atmosphere" to speak of. Just some picnic tables, maybe an elderly couple splitting a sandwich, and music that you probably don't want to listen to.

It's surprising that with all of my Denton area friends, that Metzler's only has five reviews? The place has been around a really, really long time. Good bbq, good beer selection and you can even purchase sausages that you can throw on your own grill.

Good, cheap bbq and fries that are very curley and very good. I've been to Metzler's a number of times, even with the kiddo and I've never left disappointed. They also added a room for the big single beer bottles.... so coool. All good beer from across the US and other places. They had growlers of Dead Guy ale. I've never seen that here in Texas before.

As other reviews have said, I have never seen the places all that busy, but the food comes out quick and the girl with the blue streaked hair made sure I knew it was ready.

Go for the food, go for the beer and wine selection and go because it's all really affordable.

    Support Denton businesses.

This is a great little bbq spot. When driving by you would never think to stop in here for delicious bbq, but you would be surprised. Very good pricing for bbq. I ordered the brisket sandwich with curly fries and a drink for 7 dollars. For as dead as it was the food came out quickly, fresh, and hot. The curly fries were perfectly crispy. The staff is pretty friendly. I'd suggest making a quick pit stop if your ever in Denton, TX and want some good cheap bbq.

The craft beer selection is really impressive, they have a good mix and match selection and will usually let you mix one from a sixer if you ask nice like. The little backroom for the 'elite' beers is really nice as well, I may or may not have found a Brooklyn Black Ops in there... The food is also very tasty to the max, Fridays and Saturdays are all you can order ribs, and they will stick to yours as well. Best side to order with it is most definitely the german potato salad! It kicks the crap out of any other potato salad, and is on a totally other potato salad level. It shouldn't even be called potato salad because its so good.

Metzler's is my favorite BBQ/German/Beer place in Denton.  The prices on the food basically can't be beat- $4.99 for a huge BBQ sandwich and pile of curly fries... pretty much all the BBQ is less than $6, and the massive plates of German food are both delicious and top quality.  Even though it's mostly shelves of beer and wine, there are a bunch of tables in the front for eating in.

*One* of my other favorite parts of Metzler's is it's enormous microbrew selection, offering what appears to be hundreds of styles, most of which are refrigerated and ready to drink.  Some of my favorites include Dogfish Head and Flying Dog (my East Coast favs), Sierra Nevada, Rogue... and even Baltica, which I haven't ever seen outside my many trips to Kyrgyzstan.

The other thing I like about Metzler's is their selection of Texas-made hot sauces, including Jardine's, which is my personal favorite.

OK .. what the hell.  How have I not reviewed this place before?  I went on to update my review and lo wand behold.. I have not written one.. no has anyone else.

Well this Metzler's is just like the other one but I think bigger.  It's an old 7-11.  They have tons of delicious BBQ and German food to enjoy on one of their inside picnic tables but their real star.. the beer.

They offer a very large assortment of beer here at reasonable prices.  I always stop in to pick up something different.  This time I came in to get some Billie's chilies.  A beer that is flavored with several types of hot peppers.  They were out but I still found some interesting beer to get.  I added some summer sausage and some cheese from fishchers and made it a complete balanced meal.
