Great place to chill. Try the Mahi Bites appetizer and a Blue Margarita.

This place was awful. Just 2 years ago this place had monstrous burritos, and excellent enchiladas. All made with fresh ingredients. Now, it has turned into your regular outerbanks slop and drop restaurant. What a shame.  I am giving it one star because our waitress was an absolute angel. Our appetizers came out one at a time in increments of 10 minutes, and our final appetizer, the wings, came out 5 mins after the entrees. The menu is confused. The title of the restaurant has the word Mexican in it. Pasta? Burgers? Crab cakes? Pork chops? Huh? Suuuuuuucks!

The food was okay, service was AWFUL. If you're a guy, and have girls with you, count on being ignored COMPLETELY. Server/bartender was too touchy with female patrons, have a little class. Also the locals that hang out there are assholes who catcall everyone. Not an enjoyable experience.

Fantastic fish tacos!  We usually eat here several times each visit to the area.  We have always been treated well.  Terrific food at a very fair price.  Can't wait for my next visit.

First night ever in OBX started with a killer nap after the beach, dinner at Mama Kwan's and stumbling upon MexiCali Brewz which looked pretty cool from the road.

I mean who doesn't like drinking in someone's yard? This one serves you alcohol and even set up bean bag toss game things.

Imagine my surprise when I realized that MexiCali and Mama Kwan's are owned by the same group/people. So much for diversifying our evening.

But we stayed anyways. A band was breaking down but plastic lawn chairs were the perfect set up to watch locals and tourists battle it out with bean bags. It's like a frat party.

Also like a frat party there was only one women's bathroom stall. And four beers on tap.

Decent place but one where your company makes the night, not the venue.

After gorging ourselves on seafood while at the beach, my group of friends and I sought out something that didn't have an all you can eat crab leg special. We ALMOST didn't go here because based on popular theory, we have decided that anything that replaces a Z for an S... probably sucks. We weren't too far off, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.

There was no seating inside, so we saddled up to the bar to order dinner and drinks. The bartender there had a massive case of i'm-a-bartender-in-a-tourist-town-so-i'm-going-to-be-a-dick-to-anyone-that-isn't-local-itis. Mind you this is a bar and restaurant, in a town inhabited predominantly by vacationers, so this should be something buddy might have thought about before taking work behind a bar serving them. The service wasn't bad, he was just a miserable crab without ever even cracking what might resemble a smile. The food wasn't anything to write home about... alot of average Southern Californian-Mexican food.

Overall, I could see this place being decent if the staff wasn't giving you the cold shoulder your entire visit. Don't get my wrong, I'm sure dealing with most tourists sucks... but blanket treatments to all patrons you don't know by name is unwarranted.
