This is as good as it gets on the OBX. Â Donnie King has done a fabulous job getting a great team of professionals together to provide a super dining experience. Â All of the servers have held their jobs for years as has most of the cook staff, bartenders and others that work here. Â It is a cohesive team that delivers an excellent experience.
Good wine list, very creative dishes, and super atmosphere in this restaurant which is as close to the ocean as you can get on the Outer Banks.
For a special treat see if they can seat you at the table that overlooks the kitchen. Â You can watch the guys in the kitchen doing their thing from close range, or you can glance out to the right to look at the ocean while you wait for your food.
The only down side is every time I eat here I over do it and feel like a stuffed animal when I go home.
If you have a special occassion to celebrate or want to have an impressive meal OB is the place to be.
Oh, and they are one of the few restaurants open year round on the OBX!
Having been to Ocean Blvd a couple of times before, we had decided it was the most elegant and delicious place for adult dinners out. The food had been good in the past.
The last time we went, about a month ago, I ordered the mussels appetizer. I spat out one bad one, with apologies to my dinner mates. Then, had another bad one, so I stopped. I politely told the waiter that the mussels were bad, and he took them away. He did not offer me anything else for an app, and I had ordered dinner, so I let it pass. Â We were having a nice dinner, three of us, and at that moment it was not important.
Then, at the end of meal he brought the check, with the mussels still on it. I, again very politely, pointed out that the bad mussels were still on the check, and I had not been offered a replacement. The waiter said he had spoken with the owner and the chef, who both said the mussels were fine. I then quietly said that's too bad, because you will be the one to suffer in the end. He went away mumbling with my credit card, and came back and THREW the tray with chit, credit card and pen into my lap. Â Threw it. Â We have never been so shocked in our lives at duch behavior. I think the waiter acted like he was under the influence of something.
We will never go back--Blue Point is just as good , plus the wait staff is charming. Oh, I gave the waiter a $5 tip for a tab of more than $150. I do not remember ever doing that before, in all my 58 years. I always tip 20%.
