Mi Casita

1. they moved from 740 Fresno St. Now they're right next to the subway sandwich shop.

2. Any debit card purchase has to be over $5.

3. Pretty awesome decorations inside. The food, salsa and service was pretty good. Definitely worth a repeat.

A few blocks north of Manning Avenue, down J Street, you'll find Downtown Parlier which consists of three or four blocks of mostly vacant old storefronts. Across the street is a narrow, pleasant, tree-shaded park which parallels the railroad tracks beyond.

I'm scheduled to be working near Parlier in a few weeks so I'll update any changes then, but a couple of years ago, my companeros and I were working nearby and looking for the local flavor--Mi Casita looked as good as any.  Lucky for us, this place turned out to be real Mamacita's family-style home cooking as it should be.  They have the basic 2 or 3 item lunches with refries and seasoned rice as well as daily big plate specials.  I loved the simple carne asada soft tacos flavored with lime and cilantro, while my co-workers raved about the enchiladas covered with Jalisco cheese; gooey but not greasy.  And the horchata is to die for.

In my Yelps, I have always made it a point never to mention the physical appearances of any babes that might work in the places I review, lest I trigger the misplaced longing of some creepy stalker out there, but since this place is so out of the way, and the hombres fuertes that are regulars will take out any curious weirdoes, I have to say that the waitresses here are absolutely beautiful--two sisters and a cousin as I recall, charming and all smiles; we felt like we had been invited into their home--su casita es nuestra casita--I admit it, I was smitten big time, as well as well-fed.
