Solid menu, excellent staff and service. Â
While the menu doesn't offer much in the way of innovation or surprises, the food they offer is prepared well, presented well and served hot and fresh. Â Really, if I were just talking about the food I probably only would've given 3 stars, since I expect well prepared and presented hot food and that's what I got.
What sets this restaurant apart is the service. Â Our table never lacks for drink, salsa or chip refills and the servers are always friendly and polite.
This place isn't what it used to be.
I have been eating at Mi Cocina since it originally opened.
The food was excellent but the atmosphere was very basic. Restrooms was clean. Waitstaff service was great and the prices were a bargain.
This was a good place to take a family for good food on a budget.
Several years ago all of this changed, along w/ the ownership.
They started closing on Sundays, and opened on Saturdays (religious reasons is my guess) which was a shame, because this place was popular w/ the after-services crowd.
They did a total makeover inside, with archways and more 'mexi-decor'.
The price went up, the quality of food and service went down.....
and now I hardly ever eat here anymore, even though it 3 miles from my driveway. I have a family of 5, and it would be close to $50 for all of us.
It's cheaper to drive to Concord, Albemarle, or Charlotte to get better food.
