This is where you go to watch other people's dignity fade away, with neither a shred of grace or subtlety.
Basically, this is a great place to go if your main goals are to get drunk (on cheap beer/spirits) and have irresponsible sex. In other words, if you've just turned 21 and are away from home for the first time, ignore everything I say in this review. Go forth, gather ye rosebuds while ye may! And all that other stuff.
On the other hand, if your idea of relaxing does not include having to scream all of your conversations, watching pretty girls puke all over themselves, and shuddering at the bad choices being made all around you. . . heed my words and just go elsewhere.
Sadly, I've yet to figure out where "elsewhere" is exactly, as most of the bars in DeKalb look exactly alike.
Gross. Â I know that when Molly's moved to the new venue, it was promised that the new location would be better somehow.
Thus far, the music gets so loud you can not talk. Â You would think they had a real dance floor, they don't. Â So people push around you dancing. Â Poor planning Molly's. Â
The bouncers allow people who are so over drunk to stay in there and they get sick all over the bathroom. Â I have been there when this has happened on at least two different occasions. Â
I get this a college bar, but when did college mean classless?
There is no food, but the nice part is you can get food delivered. Â Overall, skip Molly's. Â Send them a message. Â They are not the only bar in town.
Oh and their "bus" that never comes even when you have it pre-arranged...terrible. Â The drivers are rude. Â For guys who put out a tip jar, maybe you should be nicer.
Not the best bar in DeKalb, but a good place to go and be seen if your college aged. Honestly the place would have been pretty cool if it wasn't always so crowded. Â Every time I went there we either pregamed or bar hopped because there never seemed to be enough bartenders for the crowd.
They probably have some of the better rails in DeKalb, but this bar was only fun when super drunk.
I always enjoyed going to this bar with my buddies back in college. The atmosphere is really nice because you can get rowdy in one room or chill in another. During my stay at NIU they would also host the UFC fights for free. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Definitely my pick for best bar in Dekalb. Not like there is much to choose from.
Review Source:For me Molly's is close and inexpensive. I have only been there on nights when its not too crowed (or maybe I was just too early). They food was alright, but I would not go there just to get something to eat. I have had much better bar food, and the same price. Â The service was average.
Review Source:It's better than Starbusters (aka Wallet busters). We'd go here for the wings and beer on tuesdays (I think it was tuesdays). Much better than Buffalo Wild Wings and the beer was way cheaper.
If you come here expecting top notch service don't you're also not paying top dollar. Just don't expect too much when you come here and you'll have a good time.
Worst sevice in all of DeKalb! Unless you're a college guy, don't expect to get any service, even if you're the only one in there. I've been several times and the "waitresses" Â ignore us. My husband got hassled by the bouncer on his birthday because he has a Missouri Liscence, they thought it was fake and made him sign his name 3 times to compare, and threatened to keep the liscence. That's not legal. And he was 27, not some 19 year old trying to get in. And ifyou complain to anyone there about it, they couldn't care less. I hate this bar.
Review Source:This is also one of the staples in the DeKalb nightlife scene. Â This is a fun place but you want to avoid this place on event days such as football games or Homecoming weekends. Â I dislike the elbow to elbow crowds and this place goes way beyond crowded. Â We made the mistake of going thee on a Homecoming weekend night and it took me 30 minutes to get from my seat on the outdoor patio to the bar, get a drink and get back to my seat! Â this pace is not as bad when there is not an event going on in town. Â Although this is a DeKalb institution I would suggest heading east on Lincoln Highway where you have a larger selection of smaller but less crowded bars
