to give a short version on my lunch disappointment let me just say it was not what I was expecting.  I asked for crispy hash browns, they came out semi-scorched on one end and cold like from the refrigerator on the other end. the sausage and cheese omelet looked like it had been put in between a press: flat and tired.  the sausage was really NOT what I had expected...it was like brown & serve sausage cooked and diced.  pretty lame but the sourdough toast was the real joke.  2 pieces were cut and stacked on the plate.  the top 2 pieces looked ok but the bottom 2 had a giant air bubble in the bread so it was basically nothing but crust.  i know this can happen with sourdough bread, those are the pieces you throw away and do NOT serve to a customer.  to cap this off the waitress continued to pass by and did everything she could to avoid eye contact with me as well as not ever asking how things were.  I did not tip nor would I ever return.  BAD JOB folks!

Headed home after going to Burney Falls. Gave this 4 stars for some tasty basic simple breakfast. I got the "Moore skillet" it was flavorful and well cooked, my basted eggs were cooked perfect. My husband got the all meat omelette which was very good. The portions were good sized for the money (and we have large appetites)

The building and the place in general though is pretty sad and worn, but the service was friendly and helpful, not fast but not slow either. Overall your basic old country diner with good food but nothing fancy.

Went in on Sunday 3/25/12 and ordered the special which was honey dipped fried chicken.  The best part of the meal was the small portion of ice cream they give you.  The chicken was burnt and totally inedible, told the waitress about it and she didn't do a thing about it.  It would have been nice if she offered to have something else cooked , but did nothing.  Very disappointing since I am a local and it was one of the last places in Burney that I would eat at.  Guess i will have to travel to Redding to get a decent meal from now on.

Typical greasy spoon with added touch of slow service. Place was slow and we still had to wait for coffee and the check while waitress was outside smoking.

    Nice, friendly, diner on 299.

Easy parking, spacious booths.  I had the 'JD Melt' which is a tuna melt mixed with red onions, chipotle mayo and jalapeno peppers. I'm told it was named for a local cop who wanted a spicy sandwich.  It has a bit of a peppery bite, but isn't super hot.  The filling was very substantial, this is a generous sandwich (see my photo).

For sides you can upgrade to sweet potato fries or fried okra.  I opted for the okra and it was decently fried.
