Moores is a great bar/pub with live music on the weekends. Good drinks and new brick oven pizza area. Worth a try if your in freehold.

Food is OK. Atmosphere is pretty good, especially if you want to watch a game or see a band. This was another place that pulled the, oops we forgot to change to happy hour prices in our system scam and charged for full price drinks. Anyway, I will be back due to the limited amount of sports bars in the area, but will be double checking the bill.

Good place.  Great Big bar with lots of flat screens.   If you go on Sunday for a game appetizers are half off and great drink specials.   Food is good.
    They also have live music.
Overall nice place to hang out

I haven't been in here in quite some time because the last couple pretty much blew! Had been craving a pulled pork sandwich lately and this is the closest plce to me that I know has them. Headed here for lunh today and was seated promptly. I oredered the "Sloppy Moores", which is their pulled prok, and my wife had the crabcake sandwich. We started with fried pickles. The pickles were pretty good, but it was the horseradish sauce that made them. Next, out came my sandwich.........HOLY SHIT!!!  It's a hero!!!!!   LMAO It was on a hero roll. Not a kaiser type roll, but a hero roll and it was huge!!!!!   Taste was ok. Sauce could use alittle help, but it isn't bad. My only real complaint is that it isn't served with coleslaw. You can't order it on the side either because they don't have it!!!  How on earth do you not have coleslaw in a place like this????????  Kind of like a diner without a Greek owner!!! It doesn't happen!!  Anyway, my wife liked her crab sandwich which was ok too. My beer could have been a wee bit colder.
To sum it up, it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. Pretty average food which would pass in a pinch for a quick bite.

Good pub food , specials make this place  a bargain . When you're in the mood for nothing fancy and you need dimly light dining because your husband  is wearing a horrible hat and dirty jeans

Really like the look of this place and have been at the bar often. The weekend cover band is fun but SO loud. The bar food is not my favorite but I was just there on Tuesday for half price burgers and I must say A-mazing. I had the Carolina Burger and it was just too good, cooked perfectly and even the side of spinach was excellent.

Great food!  Nice atmosphere.  I enjoyed the bar side, it was a lil quieter than the dining room side.  Great Happy Hour prices....just wish they applied to take-out orders as well.  Wings are excellent too!

3.5 Stars. Moore's Tavern isn't anything to get excited about, but proximity to home mostly drives my decision to come here to either catch a game, grab some local bar grub or both. This place is huge, with a ton of seating space between the segregated dining and bar areas. They have decent happy hour specials on food and drinks (domestic crap) and overall reasonable pricing other times.

Although a average three star bar, they earn an extra half star for the awesome bartender who was working there during both of my recent visits...even though she was wearing a Miami Dolphins jersey.

Moore's...A piece of history in Freehold. A little confusing as to why they needed to change the dining room into a giant sports bar, however, so be it. We prefer the  Historic tavern side now, though with the big sports bar I'm confused why they still have TV's with the occasional howling fans there at the little bar.  ..Aside from that.. The service is usually super friendly and accommodating. The food... hmm. a little inconsistent. For the most part, very good. There are times when you just want a burger or a steak and a cold brew.  Moore's likes to be known for their burgers...and they can be great. I've had them there.  The lovely charr outside of a juicy flavorful medium-rare quality ground beef patty is a wonderful thing. Same with the steaks.. I've had those also.  Problem is, you have to be there the right day ,because sometimes there are different "chefs". There is at least one that has no idea how to cook beef. ( seems  I get him often these days) - tasteless, slowly over cooked sad miserable things. Bereft of any of the fire grilled nuances such as the flame kissed charr that seals in those beef juices and tenderness.( Can you tell I like my beef?) Other dishes can suffer the same "chef" consequences. Standard Moore's dishes, ie. the chicken pot pie, can be great or poor. We just need to figure out which night is "bad chef" night.. --Thursdays seem to be good nights, though we haven't tried a full weeks test..
Moore's, we like you a lot, but the bad-(cheaper?)- chefs hurt you. Most restaurants in NJ suffer this same problem... I know why, I see them in the kitchens. I know good help can be hard to find, but ...
Still, I believe Moore's is a worthwhile place to go. In their defence, servers or management will do whatever they can to make you happy.
I raise my glass of Guinness to you, Moore's- Here's to better beef!

Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon in the dining area. The entire, expansive room REEEEEEKED of stale beer. Like walking into a frat house coated in dried vomit & B.O. Once the food came, we were inundated with multiple flies. All gave the impression this place had not been cleaned for quite some time.

After giving the Tavern a 1 star review (deservedly so at the time) I was contacted by the manager who asked that I give them a second chance - which I did - without him knowing to be sure that I would not get any special treatment. I am happy to say that the second chance led to a third, fourth and fifth visit over the past couple of months. Perhaps my first experience was a fluke since my wife and I have been happy with our meals there on all other occasions. The burgers are in fact decent, the buffalo wings are actually quite good and the fried pickles are interesting as fried foods go. All in all the Tavern is a step up from McDonald's for sure and cleaner than the TGI Fridays on 9 so it is a safe bet when you want to have a burger and a beer.

Recently renovated but the food went downhill. I miss the Smotherd Potatoes, curly fries and BBQ chicken quesadilla! Now, I see they're using cheese sauce on the nachos?!?!!? Ew. So disappointed. They stopped focusing on the food and became all about the big screens and live bands. Ive been going my whole life. I know everything about Moores and I find myself not wanting to go even if i have a gift certificate and no money...cheese sauce? Really??

I really wanted to like this place, for several reasons.  It isn't a chain, yet offers an affordable, casual and spacious atmosphere for grabbing a bite and a brew.  What could go wrong, right?

Well...the service was a big miss.  I met a girlfriend at the bar (on a fairly busy Friday during happy hour) and we were rushed from the very beginning.  Menus were thrust at us and we had to decide on drinks immediately.  We also had to beg to hear about the drink specials.  Next, we ordered an app (mozz sticks) and entrees, but our entrees came out in less than 10 minutes, way ahead of the app - which we didn't even want by that point.  The waitress just kept saying how shocked she was, but didn't offer to take the app off the tab.  My buffalo chicken wrap seemed to be missing a key ingredient or two - like cheese and/or dressing.  The app was blah.  And since the place was hopping, we were totally pushed out once staff realized we wouldn't be ordering more drinks.

Not a good experience, and I won't be back...I'd rather go to the nearby Chili's, where the bartender is friendly, the bar is totally chill, and you can relax there for as long as you want.

My family actually wants to rate this 0 stars, because the general manager- George Falcone-- was obnoxious and sadistic.

We were having a large party (16 people) on a Saturday night and were hosting guests that were coming in from out of town (out of country, actually). First of all, after calling twice during the day, we understood that they did not take reservations. However, after checking with the hostess over the phone, we were told in that we could put our names down in advance and start waiting for tables.

When we arrived, we checked in with the girl at the podium and she was aware of our party. At the appointed time of our "reservation" when most of our party had arrived, we went to check on the table and discovered that they gave away our table to another party of 16. After speaking with the hostess at the podium, we were then introduced to the "general manager", George, and after going over the situation and him trying to defend his hostess with their policies and procedures, instead of trying to appease us as any good host or manager would do, he subjected us to his petty spite. He was clearly on a power trip.

After being in the restaurant and spending money at the bar for 45 minutes, he then would not even TAKE DOWN OUR NAME until the complete party was there (only 3 were missing). When they did show up, and I informed him  that our whole party arrived and asked how long the wait would be, he looked me straight in the eye with his Cheshire grin and said, "1.5 hours", at which point, I proceeded to tell him that he was a jerk-off and that we would not be subjected to his "rule". We would never go to this place after being treated so rudely by someone whose purpose is to serve customers. His attitude was unwarranted.

We ended up going down the street to Longhorn Tavern, which accommodated our party rather quickly and without any unnecessary insolence.

My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding and decided to stop in to check this place out since a friend recommended. I'm totally glad we did! The bar was huge and in the center  of the large, airy dinner room. It had big screens on the walls playing any and every game taking place (including the red sox, another bonus). The bar had plenty of staff and the service was fantastic!

We only wanted to grab drinks and maybe an appetizer. So flash forward to us having a couple of yuenglings and splitting a combo platter (totally try the pulled pork slider and coconut shrimp) and completely digging this place. We didn't get dinner since we were meeting up with other people elsewhere. I'd come here if I was back in this area again.

I'm a big fan of hot wings -- and always want to try all the different sauces a place has on the menu -- especially the hot ones! So many places say they have hot wings and either they are not hot or are very hot with no flavor just burn.  Thankfully Moore's Tavern has a great happy hour special in the summer and I gave their hot wings a try.  Blazing Hot was excellent and had enough heat to make you sweat but still was delicious -- then I stepped it up to Hell's Fury! The wings don't look wet and you think they forgot the sauce -- but it is cooked right in and what a blast of heat you get from these wings -- without loosing the flavor.  For most this may be a little too hot but I love the heat and highly recommend giving Moore's wings a try -- and there other food is good too.

This place has changed a lot since I first went there about 10 years ago. The fact that it's still there after so long meant something to me, especially because restaurants come and go in the area frequently. I came here after work around 10 PM on a Friday night. The server was okay considering how busy it was. I liked how they had the big bar in the middle and tables all along the wall. They do offer a separate dining area if you don't want to hear the live band. Drinks were relatively cheap - $3 for miller lite drafts and $4.50 for vodka diet cokes (which weren't too strong nor too weak). The wings and veggie sandwich were okay.

The band played a variety of cover songs and the crowd ranged in age. Funny enough a lot of people were dressed up, but I never think of any place around the area worth the effort to dress up for (NYC snot in me coming out?). Regardless, I think I found a fun, cheap, local spot to come to after a long day at work.

Just arrived to the area and I was looking to have some good home style food. I saw this place while driving home and decided to give it a try on a Fri night. I was ever surprised to find this place was exactly my kind of home town feel restaurant/sports bar. The food is great, I had the meat loaf, which wad what I was looking for... Perfectly hit the spot. The bar-b-q nachos looked great too but I am going to have to go back to try them! Price was average, service was the best, and the food came out quick! I will be back many times to come!!

LOVE MOORES.  Old barn that is super historic full of good food and a pretty generic beer list (all macros) but the food is always good.  I love going in.  I feel like I've stepped back in time.

This place was built in 1787.  I love the fact that they still have the old wide wood plank floors, with the real distressed brick walls.  Did I mention it's from 1787.  You feel the history the minute you enter the place.  Try the cheesy crap dip, you won't be disappointed.

Well, I am sad. They took a good thing a ruined it! It was a really great place to bring family and freinds for a hearty American meal. They had amazing nachos, french onion soup, burgers and daily specials. The dining room was large and very handicap friendly. I didn't even bother eating there last time I walked in because there was a large bar in the center of the room with a noisy crowd. Why does everything need to be a bar???

I keep trying it and wishing it was better. After my third time we just gave up. Not being a fan of chains I still have to admit that the nearby longhorns is a better choice.. Please step it up Moore's Tavern you have a great looking place and location

We've been going to Moore's since it first opened! Actually that's a lie as the place was a stagecoach stop back around 1750 or so. The cool thing is about 10 years ago they lifted the original structure and moved it to the back of the lot. Then they built a brand new restaurant area and moved back the original old bar with a modern shell built around it. If you eat in the dining area you won't see this, but if you eat in the bar as I always do, you can still see the original woodwork and ancient bricks, etc.. That's cool. We always go to the bar, and it can get real crowded. But the food has been OK on those rare occasions when we eat there. I was there on Fri. 5/1/09 with Toot and Uncle Paulie and we sat at the bar. Happy Hour starts at 3pm but the barkeep let us start about 15 minutes early. Nice job! There were $2 Yuenglings and 1/2 price appetizers. My amigos had Chicken Fajitas and they liked them, but did not rave about them. We had a few beers and a round of 1800 Tequila shots, tasty! The service was great though, and a good time was had.
