Awesome place, food was pretty good, they have 2 pool tables. About 25-30 tv's all flat screen hd. They have every sport package so you'll be able to watch your favorite team. Also pretty cheap we got 5 beers, a burger and Tri tip sand which only 35 bucks. Idk why this place has bad reviews. Think it's the wife's bc there husbands probably wanted to eat here every night. But ya good food, cheap and sports... What to hate?
Review Source:Last summer 2012: Terrible brunette woman bartender. The pool table malfunctioned, leaving a ball in the machine. When we asked the bar tender if she could open the machine so we could play with a full rack, she said "No, you have to pay another $1.50 to get it out so you won't mess with the machine again." The pool table then malfunctioned again and we lost another $1.50, and when we told her of the problem, she stated she would text her boss and gave us major attitude when she gave us a $1.50 back. Didn't eat here this time, but last time the food was mediocre. Could be a nice sports bar if they dropped the rude bartender.
Review Source:I travel quite a bit, especially to Lake Tahoe. Â I came back from Tahoe wondering what's going on up there. Â Traveled back to several spots which I frequent when up there and noticed changes. Â Not all good. Â I mentioned this to some of my co-workers and one mentioned the importance of Yelp and what it's designed to do. Â I'm going to use it in all my travels from now on. Â Anyways, this is one establishment where it appeared much the same from the last time I was up here. Â Cool spot to grab a beer and something to eat. Â If there's a game playing, this would be a good choice.
Review Source:We bought a restaurant..com coupon here. We came in Friday night and the place was empty. We have a condo across the street and we've wanted to check it out for a while but the empty bar AND restaurant made me nervous.
We had nothing to worry about because the manager told us they would not honor the coupon because they aren't selling them anymore. They did sell this one though. She said she had been trying to use them up for the last 6 months and will not honor them anymore. They don't expire  and they aren't new owners.
I will never go there again and I'll tell everyone about my experience. Obviously everyone in town already knows not to go there. I have never seen such a ghost town in south shore.
I had dinner here and the food was just alright. I had a cheeseburger and the patty was heavily peppered which I did not like at all. We came late so they didn't have the normal waitress coming by type of thing instead we sat at a table near the bar and flagged down the bartender when we needed something. She was very good at keeping an eye out for us which we appreciated but it was a hassle. They have a huge projector screen which was nice since there was a baseball game on that I wanted to watch while i was there.
Review Source:Two words, "Fried Pickles."
I know, that sounds weird, even I was leery the first time I heard of it, but they are way bomb. If you like pickles DEFINITELY give it a go. Don't overdo it though as too much of any good thing can be too much. ;-)
This is a pretty awesome bar that is part of a motel so it definitely is a tourist spot, but locals come in just as often. There are tons of TV with several different choices of sports to watch. All in all a fun place to come and chill at.
Good, but definitely had better.
Bar food, Bar atmosphere..it was whatevs.
Boyfriend ordered the fried pickles, they were WHOLE!
No way he could eat those lol..
Service slacked a little, guy would ask us questions as we were walking by,
couldnt even slow down and talk to us.
Didn't even know what a wheat beer was.
But like I said, typical bar place.
My kids absolutely love this place. Grilled cheese on white bread, spaghetti in a bland sauce with one big meatball, bottomless cups of milk and to top it all off...free unlimited foozball. Total kid heaven and very convenient if you are staying at the Super 8 because the two are connected and you get a 10% discount.
That said, the place is overpriced, the food is barely tolerable and the server, while friendly, was not attentive. I ordered a $8.99 caesar salad that was just a bowl of lettuce. Bottled sauce and supermarket croutons were added sparingly. The beef rib was one giant rib with lots of fat and gristle. The reason I gave Mo's two stars and not one is because when I I'd find the meat on the rib, it was tender and the BBQ sauce it was served with was really good. Oh yeah, the single beef rib is $18.99. It was served with floppy broccoli, zucchini and green bell peppers (aka seasonal steamed vegetables). Just not up to par considering all the options around.
What a great little place!
We were in Tahoe for our honeymoon and were heading back to reality on Sunday but not before we could watch the football games! Â I 'yelped' for a sports bar on the way out of town and this seemed to be the ONLY place in town.
When we drove up we were a little hesitant as this appears to be inside of a dive hotel, better known as a 'Super 8', we even had to walk through the lobby to get to this place. I almost spun out on my heels as I have nightmares about dive hotel bars, but was most pleasantly surprised walking in as there were multiple widescreen tvs and a nice wooded floor, nice big pool table and plenty of seats!
The main room has a nice fireplace, which would have been great if it had been snowing that week. Â Will make a note to get back up there once the season REALLY begins.
The best part about this bar was the service! Undeniably the best I've ever experienced. Â The two people that were working that day were clearly busy running around but made us feel like we were the only people in the place. Â Made some perfect recommendations and offered some 'off menu' options for us (mmmm breakfast burrito!!). Â They were well versed in thier beer options and had a great handle on who was playing who and on which TV.
Great sports bar!! Â We will be back!
The Great: Multiple TVs and a huge screen playing multiple games / sports. Strong drinks and a decent selection of beer. Pools tables. Bus that stops right outside. Taxi drivers know what Mo's is.
The So-So: The food. It's decent for absorbing copious amounts of alcohol. The appetizers are all really greasy.
The Fugly: Only one toilet per sex. Men, be prepared to share your loo with the ladies on busy nights.
Full sports package and 16 TV's?! we watched the Sharks & football & Moto GP all at once enjoyed the late night happy hours and played some free foosball (available all the time) great prices on the football food menu, $2 chips and salsa or quesadilla  $3 chilli chz fries, $4 chicken nachos, $5 mini sampler!! Good prices, great entertainment, happy workers! definitely be back
Review Source:As a recent South Lake Tahoe transplant I've been missing the comforts of home, your favorite breakfast place, familiar faces, and of course the quintessential local bar. I found Mo's place and my homesickness vanished, this friendly local's hangout is everything you'd need and more, lots of T.V.s great drink specials and awesome prices on food during football games. I talked to everyone at the bar all three times I've been so far, the bartenders are efficient and friendly and Mo himself makes regular appearances in the bar. If you have not been down to Mo's yet I highly recommend it for a Thurs/Sun/Mon night football game, or a great spot to meet friends.
Review Source:Finally a place that actually accepts <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FRestaurant.com&s=0aab4cbd731f3d3b0d1453050d3abc56a8c80bd214e25469c7555b750dca8a51" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Restaurant.com</a> certificates. We seriously went to 3 different places trying to use our certificates that we bought, but were told they don't accept them anymore. Alas, we finally went to Mo's, just a couple blocks away from my apartment and they told us they will accept it.
It was Saturday around 2pm and they place was pretty much empty. We started off with Fried Calamari ($8.99) since we always get it if it's on the menu, but this wasn't your average Calamari. It wasn't served as small rings nor tentacles. They almost looked like miniature mozzarella sticks and thy were served with what I thought was marinara sauce, but turned out to be some sort of tarty ketchup (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fs3-media4.ak.yelpcdn.com%2Fbphoto%2FT9ym3qVPfT9LWdCUhq8CwA%2Fl.jpg&s=3ecf7f1f192775e0fa315374a63ca9ea72746aafa78ceb30d72c6fcbd166a624" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://s3-media4.ak.yelp…</a>). I really didn't like it at all. The calamari was so oily and chewy. The sauce it came with didn't even help because it was pretty much just ketchup.
For our entrees, we ordered a mushroom burger ($8.99) and a chili cheeseburger ($8.99). They weren't joking when they named this the "mushroom" burger. There was seriously a pile of fresh mushrooms inside it (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fs3-media4.ak.yelpcdn.com%2Fbphoto%2FsGiwB1hmAAPbfOLsrJOneg%2Fl.jpg&s=ea74599a21dd8acb612d3497c8d38ddc356e83aa03897dc6a54bca896d5f436b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://s3-media4.ak.yelp…</a>), so of course that was an automatic win for me. My boyfriend didn't really seem to enjoy his chili cheeseburger, but he's not much of a cheese person, so I don't see why he ordered that anyway. He said there were too many really chunky onions though. We both really loved the seasoned fries that came with his burger. Perfectly crisp and seasoned. I definitely recommend trying them out.
For dessert, we got a brownie sundae ($6.99). It was ridiculously sweet, but what do you expect. The brownie seemed to have been just made, but also tasted like a microwave brownie. It was very soft and gooey on the inside, which is what made it too sweet for me. I just ate all the outer parts with the ice cream and whipped cream.
All in all, I don't think I'd come back here. After we ate here, we seriously spent an hour in the bathroom each and I don't know which plate caused that because we shared everything. It just sucked because we had a wedding to shoot that same day. Also, the calamari was the worst I've had, so I don't suggest you get that. If you do come here, you should try the mushroom burger and seasoned fries.
We came here after a long weekend of partying in Lake Tahoe, and wanted a quick bite to eat and to watch the Raider game. When we walked in, we had to walk around the whole dinning area to find someone to seat us. The atmosphere was nice if you're in the mood to watch a game and drink some beer, but if you're not the rowdy fans could get annoying. The cool thing about this place is there is a huge selection of games to watch. I counted 11 tvs, all with different teams.
It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks (waters) and another 15 to even get our food order taken. Then we waited about 30-45 minutes to get the food. The food itslef was average at best. They have a huge menu selection, which was nice, food ranging from burgers and wings to mexican and indian. I would say that you should just come for the sports bar experience and expect little from the food. The only problem is every entree is about $10+, decently expensive for what you get.
The waiting staff ignored us, and when she did talk to us, she seemed like she hated her job. Also, we waited another 30 minutes or so after we were done eating to get the bill.
Overall: fun sports enviornment, average at best food, a lot of waiting.
I came here by myself because i was determined to enjoy my "friday" night even though everyone else had work the next day or some excuse of the sort. Wow did i succeed! i ended up playing pool for 5 hrs straight! I made some friends and ran into a girl i went to school w/ from my hometown Santa Cruz. Later on in the night they had a band playing, it was a really good time.
As for the food not so good and really over priced. so i suggest you eat before or walk down the street and get something to eat.... Besides what's better then a drunken walk ;)
Really enjoyed the food. Everything was fresh and generous portions. Had an iffy experience with the bar tender but then the owner Mo generously made things right. I will go back next time I'm in town. Fun place if you don't mind the party atmosphere, which I don't mind.
We had great service, the waiter was really friendly and took good care of us.
I've been here a few times as it is within walking distance to my house. However, I will never spend my  money here again. Service is poor. I ordered a tuna melt to split with a friend; it came on a dry hamburger bun. No melt involved. When i kindly asked why it wasn't on sourdough and prepared like a traditional tuna melt the bartender (who was also my server) informed me that they were out of bread. Skip Mo's by all means. Plenty of good service and food in this town.
Review Source:I really wish I liked this place, sure seems like an ideal layed back place to watch a game but the four times I've been there I've ordered one poor drink then my friends and I couldn't wait to leave.
Last time I was there my boyfriend had a complaint and everyone we consulted acted like it wasn't there job to care and pointed the finger at someone else when all we wanted was the manger!
I know that my friends and I will never give this place a chance again, after so many tries its a lost cause.
P.s. I've never seen or heard of anyone eating there.
Spent two hours here on a Sunday. With no games on we were the only ones there. They offer a Bloody Mary bar on Sunday's which was pretty good. $2 PBRs and $11 buckets of beers all the time.
We split the Mo's fiesta platter...fried pickles, onion rings, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks and potato skins. This definitely filled the greasy food requirement to combat last night's activities.
They've got a few pool tables and other games. Service was fine.
I just moved to south lake from San Francisco. As someone who has been in the restaurant business as a GM for 12 years and as a serious sports fan, I really appreciate what this place has to offer. First of all, I can watch all of the games I want at the same time. Their projector is nice. They have great flat screens too.
The menu is fantastic and not just fried food out of a freezer like you would get at most sports bars. This place has something for everyone. Among other things, I have celiac's disease (can't eat wheat) and there were plenty of options on their menu for someone with all of my dietary restrictions. We had the nachos and they were awesome, real fresh fried tortilla chips with carne asada grilled medium rare. Fresh guac, sour cream. No fake cheese or soggy chips.
Anyone who goes into a sports bar expecting amazing service, get over yourself, your girlfriend probably broke up with you there or your team lost so you had to write a bad review. That's why I usually hate Yelp, because it's so subjective. (ps. My team won, GO Giants)! The service at Mo's is up to par, meaning it is what it needs to be. I don't mind having to ask the bartender or another employee for something when I can't find my server at a place like this. Not amazing service, but friendly and acceptable. It's not fine dining.
I also noticed that they take good care of their pool tables, which is rare and a sign of good management. (No, I don't work there, but i did used to manage a sports bar, so I know how hard that is).
I will go back, a lot, since I can't watch my football team at home. GO Broncos!
Our first night in Tahoe we checked in to our motel and wanted to get a drink. The kid running the place recommended Mo's and said it was walking distance.
We walked up to this Super 8 motel bar and hear someone talking on a  cheap PA. The place was empty and they wanted a $10 cover. Honestly we couldn't figure out what was going on and we certainly didn't pay.
We gave it another shot the next night and it was just a regular, if unfriendly, sports bar. The beer was a little over priced. The place was almost empty.
This place just has a terrible vibe.
Came here late on a Thursday night. There was hardly anyone in there. Maybe 5 people? I would have loved to go back at some point during the stay just because I think this place could be REALLY fun. There are video games, pool tables, board games and an outdoor area.
The bar tender (I think Coco) had on awesome music and there were tons of places to sit. Service was fine obviously because it was practically empty and we were with a local who frequents this establishment.
My friend and I are planning our trip for this Winter and this place is on the top of my list to go back to.
I'm not really sure what all the bad ratings are about. Â I've been to Mo's twice and both times had a good experience. Â I'm not a local, but maybe I look like one because I got great service on both visits. Â Food was decent, good service, fair prices and I LOVE the big projection screen for sports. Â I'll for sure be back to Mo's next time I'm in Tahoe.
Review Source:Not a fan. I was trying to give this place a few more chances because some of my friends like going but it always disapoints. The bartenders and/or servers are horrible, with the exception of Dave. They are consistently slow, rude, and to busy to be bothered. Â On one occassion I was actually charged for my liquor and mixers serperately, and the female bartender Coco had the gall to point out that she didn't charge me for all the mixers, like she was hooking me up or something! wtf?! since when do bars ever charge for mixers? the food is alright here but the service dissapoints.
Review Source:If you need a sports bar in Tahoe, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
And most of this review is for our server Coco who took such good care of us during the Superbowl (I think we were there for almost 5 hours and ordered just about every drink special and at least 7 things off the menu).
Burger(s) - great.
Fries - simple but insanely good. rivals McDonald's.
Penne - best hangover dish ever
Mushrooms - SO delicious (get the garlic bread to sop it up)
Fried Zucchini - Mmmm Mmmmm Mmmm....Toasty.
PS: if you look like a local, you definitely get better service. Â but this applies at EVERY vacation destination from Maui to Tahoe.
WORST. SERVICE. EVER. Maybe this place is good for locals, but do NOT go here if you are a tourist in Lake Tahoe. Â I went here with my bf and two friends and the attitude the entire time we were there was completely apathetic.
When we walked in there was a sign in front that said "ask bartender about seating." We asked two bartenders.
1st bartender: I dunno, ask someone else.
2nd bartender: I dunno, find somewhere.
So we did. Â We bussed a table and sat down, and eventually a waitress came to pick up the plates and things we had stacked to the side. Â We told her we needed menus and stuff. Â Eventually my boyfriend just went and got menus. Fifteen minutes later, a different waitress came up and said, "So are you ready to order?"
We ordered. Â Everyone except me got sandwiches and burgers, which they seemed pretty satisfied with, and the fries were good. Â I got chili, which was apparently microwaved in a really crappy microwave because it was weirdly hot in some places and cold in others. It also tasted like burnt tomato paste. Ate it anyway.
Thirty minutes after we were done eating, we flagged down a busboy and tell him that we've been waiting for the check. He asked who our waitress was and we said there were about three different people and no one had really identified themselves as our server. He brought our check our right away.
Everyone around us seemed to be getting great service, bartenders and servers were chatty and nice...and pretty patient with the drunks. So I assume that we just accidentally wandered in to a local spot and were treated accordingly.
Had a great time here. Good bar food, good prices (great drink specials), great place to watch a game with a huge big screen. Staff is nice, and works hard - only negative is that it does take a bit being that I think they are usually understaffed. We were there on a lazy Saturday afternoon so we were in no hurry and didnt mind this. To give you a feeling, the bartender was also serving tables in dining area. I actually told her id run our pitchers we had been waiting for from the bar to our table.
So if you are looking for a prompt meal, probably isnt your place. If your looking to watch a game, have some drinks and good bar food, you'll love it!
Mo's works hard to please. Â We stopped in twice this weekend to catch a few games - the staff worked hard to get the games we were interested in. Â The food was a bit dicey - on Rasta sunday where they advertise $3 red stripes and brownie with every meal, they were out of brownies.
My father-in-law wanted to try the fried pickles but at $7.99 for a plate, he opted for the "fiesta platter" which included onion rings, fried pickles, potato skins, chicken wings and fried mozarella sticks. Â The fried pickles were - surprisingly - half pickles breaded and fried. Â We expected slices of pickles breaded and fried.
My son had the childrens burger which was a mini burger, much smaller than imagined. Â His grilled cheese sandwich the day before was plenty filling and made him want to eat there again. Â The burger-ette, not so much.
I had the veggie stir fry - yes, always trying to eat healthy....  its hard at mo's.  The veggie stir fry was glistening with  oil even the rice was oily.  Yuck.
Husband and Father-in-law had the fish and chips (its a man's world, baby). Â The portions were huge - 4 pieces of fish each and a pound of fries.
All-in-all, mo's is ernest and caters to the customers. Â We will be back. Â Its family friendly with games for the little ones and a spots package for the sports fans. Â Plenty of beers on tap.
Loved Mo's! Â
Happy hour on Saturday night until 7pm - which is just perfect after a day on the slopes. Â Burgers were tasty and if you can remember ... 10% off your food bill if you are staying at Super 8 :)
Waitress was lovely and on the ball, bartender was a little overworked but everything was timely. Â We even had a friend join us after we ordered and all our meals were bought out together.
I'd go back  - it has nice feel :P)
Wow, that first review was overly nasty. Mo's isn't a brilliant place, but it's not at all bad. It's not "in the Super 8 Motel"--just next door to it. No relation between the places.
We went there early for lunch on a Saturday and enjoyed a table by the fireplace. The kids enjoyed the games.
Burgers: good, though not exceptional. Chili was good, though needed to be heated a bit more (which the waitress did). Loved the french fries, which were crispy and batter-fried.
We didn't try the Indian food, but will do so if we return.
Waitstaff was just fine.
