Mountain Jack's

Came here for NYE dinner with my boyfriend and had a good time.  I ordered the steak and lobster tail and he had the baked walleye.  I loved my dish, but my boyfriend thought his was ok.  What bothered him the most were bones in the fish filet.. Maybe because it was NYE, our table was located right next to the kitchen door and at a blind spot where the waiters had to say "corner" every time they walked by!  That was a little annoying.. Overall, the food tasted great!

Mountain Jack's is one of the top five restaurants in Lafayette.
It is a multi-course, fine-dining restaurant.  I have eaten there dozens of times, and have enjoyed each and every meal.  The staff is good, the food is better.
the only downside is it can be pricey, and due to the multi-course layout, your dinner can easily last 2 hours.

read some reviews and thought we'd check it out. old school interior almost like a library. sinatra and other classics playing softly in the background. would be a nice place for a date nite. our waiter was Nate. Nate was def a pro, excellent server. knew the menu backwards and forwards and helpful (without being pushy) with recommendations. started with shrimp cocktail and thought it was a bargain to get 6 jumbo shrimp for only 8$.  nate then brings over a salad tray with all the different ingredients you could ask for and prepares your salad right there in front of you to your liking. very cool. we  both wound up getting house cut prime ribs, my friend was very happy with his dinner, cooked perfectly. my end cut wasnt perfect and when i mentioned my issue to nate, he offered to replace it immediately (now dont go trying this if you've eaten half LOL, id only had a bite or 2) which i graciously took him up on.  he came back a few minutes later and we were good to go. my friend also expressed that he was happy with the mashed potato side but the onion rings were pencil thin  and looked like they were for the soup. i thought potatoes au gratin were done quite nicely but the asparagus were a bit on the scrawny side.  finished up & was pretty full so we passed on dessert but saw the dessert tray and the offerings were very tempting. overall a pretty good experience. not a 5 star place that you might find in NYC or vegas, but a very reasonably priced steakhouse in lafayette indiana worth recommending.
