Solid food with some extra pleasant surprises such as french fry cut kohlrabi served alongside the ribs...we had the penne mac and cheese, and the awesome sausage fritters as an appetizer...the owner, Mr Willy (his picture is featured on the menu, one from 1968 and one current), was sitting at the bar and was charming and engaging.... Neighborly, "old school", and a good meal for a good value.
Review Source:We were on a weekend trip at the nearby inn and this was one of the places that we were recommended, plus this was the closest restaurant near the inn. We were seated pretty quickly and the waitress, Katherine, was very friendly and told us about the specials that they had. We ordered the stuffed mushroom for appetizer, grilled lamb chops and stuffed pork chops. The stuffed mushrooms were pretty good, the seafood stuffing was fresh although a little on the fishy side. We had cream of mushroom soup and it was good though we needed to add some salt to it for more taste. The rolls that we were served were hot and toasty and was absolutely delicious. I hate it when restaurants don't heat up the bread they serve you, so this definitely made me happy. The grilled lamb chops were a bit under seasoned but the meat was tender. The pork chops came with a thin bbq sauce and was stuffed with portabella mushrooms and bacon. It was quite good though I could have done without the BBQ sauce. The garlic mashed potatoes that it came with were also delicious and had a ton of garlic flavor in it which I love. At the end of our meal we were absolutely stuffed and still had tons leftover! Portions here are huge and prices are very reasonable. We had enough leftover for another meal that night. If I ever come back to this area I would definitely eat here again!
