It's places like these that really make me smile. Small town bar and restaurant really kicking ass at what they do.
Sat at the bar and played games on my phone while waiting for my food. I tried really hard to make pleasant conversation with the bartender lady but she wasn't really having it. Oh well.
Ordered an irish coffee to stave of my impending headache. It mostly worked.
To start I had the boneless chicken wings with the thai chili sauce. Tasty and spicy and sweet and yum. The preparation was a little haphazard but it got the job done right. I don't regret this.
Had the Jack Daniels burger for my entree. I asked them to add caramelized onions (because I saw it on another burger) and that did not happen but luckily, I lived. It was still quite delicious and also HUGE. I didn't even finish half of it.
Glanced at the dessert menu but it was pretty uninspired so I passed. The meal wasn't exactly cheap but I did have a lot to eat and I probably could have split it.
On the off chance that I'm in Monticello again I'm definitely returning to the Nugget. Gotta get my nugget on.
The only reason I would be up in this neck of the woods is for the golf. Â Played Grossingers in the morning and needed some nourishment (read beer and burger) for the afternoon round at the Concord.
From the outside it does not look like much. Â But once in it is homey with a full menu that anyone could order from. Â Our foursome stuck with the burgers (of which there was at least 12 to choose from). Â Cooked perfectly to order, fantastic char, and perfect ratio of beef, to bread, to condiments. Â Home made fries that were crisp and seasoned perfectly. Â For 8.95 I may make the 2 hour trip north the next time I need a good burger.
BTW found this place using my Yelp app. Â Thanks to the previous reviewers.
