BOTTOM LINE: This place is generous with their portions and easy on the wallet.

This family-style diner along the downtown strip of SSM has some pretty good comfort food. From pastas, to grilled white fishes to burgers, you'll find something appealing. They even have a discount seniors menu that I accidentally tried to order off of. :S My DC ordered a glass of house red and basically got a pint of it. Yes, it's that kind of place. Best of all, the prices are super reasonable.

I got the GRILLED TROUT while my DC got their HOMEMADE MEATBALLS. I gotta say, go with their pasta selections - they seem like what they do best. The fish though was nicely browned was quite tasty. Definitely one of the more affordable places in SSM and worth a try.

Not sure what the deal is with Miss North Carolina, but I am sure even a breeze of gold would be a disappointment with her ! Maybe the long train ride up to Agawa Canyon took its toll on her ! lol... However, I will say the train ride up to Hearst from here in the SOO is something everyone should do once in their life as it has incredible scenery through the Canadian Shield.

Muio's is a institution here in the SOO. It has been here on this corner since 1961 and anyone who has been here that long must be doing something right.
Muio's is not fine dining, it is nothing fancy and it does not pretend to be... what Muio's is, it's a classic diner with some Italian menu items.

The food here is really good too ! There are many Italian restaurants in the SOO... probably more Italian restaurants than there are McDonald's in this town of 80,000 people. I would not go on to say that Muio's is the best Italian restaurant either, but for a diner, it is surprisingly good at certain items on the menu.

They have very good gnocchi and ravioli which are homemade with great sauce. Their broasted chicken is very good too. You can even order gnocchi with broasted chicken. I also had some of their pie and I could tell it was homemade pie. I wish I lived in the neighborhood as Muio's as I would come here often.

Great service and overall a good place to eat.

We took the train tour and after seeing an ad in our train book we tried it. Know what we think? The ad was written by an ad agency that never tried the food. Believe it to be cooked earlier in the day then microwaved because it arrives almost after you order it. Bland and tasteless

Muio's isn't fine dining.  It is the prototype Italian restaurant of Sault Ste Marie.  My high school  buddies and I used to go here and drink coffee to look cool .  It is also has the prototype menu that brings all Sault ex-pats home craving that combination of sauce, pasta, salad and bread that nowhere else seems to match.

My favourite is the ravioli and 1/4 chicken.  Sauce is tangy but not intrusive.  Ravioli are wide and flat and filled with a mystery combination that I think is finely ground veal and pork with parmesan, breadcrumb and egg.   Of course you go there hungry so the green salad (lettuce, oil, vinegar, salt, that's all) is the best thing you've ever eaten, sided with a hunk of fresh Italian bread from Superior Bakery. Chicken is tender, juicy with a crazy crispy skin naked of crumbs or coating. Everything is served in improbably large portions.

I have seen evidence of very good desserts, particularly trays of homemade butter tarts, but have always been too full to try them.
If you are immune to the charms of the 1960s style dining room Muio's also has take out.
