30 minutes in, and we've received 1 beer and 1 coke. Still waiting on water...and silverware...and napkins...should be an adventure.
From the looks of the other guests in the outside dinning area, we won't be the only ones to never come back.
Plenty of wait staff, but they all run around without actually accomplishing anything.
The women servers were great. Very attentive and accommodating for me and my requests for my toddler. I hate to be one of "those" patrons, but I am. (I also tip well, to counterbalance my high maintenance).
Food: The burgers were mediocre. Not bad, but kind of bland meat. The stand out to me was the mozzarella sticks - pretty sure they hand bread some string cheese on site and are served with a sprinkling of parmesan and parsley with a side of spicy yummy marinara sauce. My son's $7.95 kids meal fish and fries were eaten up by him and my husband - no complaints there. My husband wasn't a fan of his patty melt. He was eyeballing my burger, but mine was kind of meh as well.
Next time we're in town I think we would try The Burger Lounge down the road. The prices are about half as much ($6.95) for burgers. My burger at Murphys was about $14.00 (I added onion rings and cheddar cheese). The only reason we didn't go to Burger Lounge was the fact that I read on Yelp that Burger Lounge is cash only and we didn't feel like running to an ATM.
The inside decor is sad dive bar. They definitely put all their money in to the outside to lure in tourists driving by, but that being said...the outside area is cute. Â
It seemed most of the people were there for beers/drinking. It's probably a great dive bar at night - but not the greatest for a young family with a toddler.
Side note: The bartenders were kind of obnoxious, as I heard one say very loudly "She's a one timer" about some woman at the bar. I'm sure she would appreciate your assessment, cool guy.
Lastly, there was a patron there with a german shepherd off a leash that kept roaming close to my table that was very irritating. The bartender seemed to encourage the patron, so that's another reason I probably would not be back.
I came in here a few weeks ago with few expectations; it was merely the restaurant nearest to the house we were staying in.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience, from the food (awesome fish and chips, great fisherman's pie, and Magners on tap), to the service. I wish I remembered our waiter's name so I could give him kudos here; I want to say Bryan, but I'm not sure (12/21, lunch shift, anyone?). He was very attentive, provided good descriptions of the food, and when I asked for cocktail sauce, ran back to the kitchen to whip some up instead of just being content to tell me that the restaurant didn't carry it. (Hint, Murphy's: provide cocktail sauce, please!) I value service very highly, and it was terrific here.
I'll return whenever I'm in the area next.
Indifferent service is the key to this place. Tried to call them several times during business hours using the number listed both on their website and on Yelp! -- they didn't answer a single time. Entered the place via their patio bar -- a departing couple offered us their table (there aren't too many) where we sat ignored for 10 minutes with the table unbussed -- they can't claim ignorance as the couple paid their check by credit card, with the signed receipt sitting amidst the glasses and plates, and the place wasn't at all hopping or busy. Finally moved to the bar itself where the bartender was busy chatting with (a) another waiter who was eating at the bar, and (b) a waitress he was obvioulsy interested in -- it took wild waving to catch is attention and have him move some five feet over to take our order. The waiter who was eating at the counter got called back into service and his food remained sitting at a key center stool at the bar for the rest of our visit, blocking patrons from using the seat.
Left after a single beer, having seen all we needed to see.
Hadn't been here in years, so was pleasantly surprised. I've read some other reviews that peg this as a "locals" spot, which is true, but I think tourists would enjoy it too. The decor is nothing fancy, but it "works" with the whole outdoor/indoor beach theme. Great for large groups. No stellar awards for the service, it's just very low key and casual - Tahoe style. The menu holds a lot of choices, and the food is satisfying. My real applause is for the AWESOME Bloody Mary that Shawnalee made for us from scratch! She nailed it, and my afternoon went SO much better after that :)
Review Source:Stopped in for some beer and was shocked by the TERRIBLE service. Â We sat in the middle of the bar and was not even acknowledged for over 10 minutes. Â After finally waving down a server, we got our drinks ordered and they were promptly delivered. Â For the next hour, we were never checked on again. Â Finally, I got the attention of our server and asked for the check. Â She nodded and then did nothing. Â ten minutes later, I asked the other server if we could get the check, she said yes, then we never saw her again. Â Finally, I stood in the middle of the walkway and again asked the original server for our check. Â She went over to the bartender and told him to get it which he did. Â With service like this, I'm surprised this place is even in business.
Review Source:Location is perfect; and the outside garden is very pleasant to sit outside for a pint or 2. The fish and chips were so greasy....and kind of gross actually. Made the sweet potato fries downright soggy. The service was also inconsistant and my husband asked for a water I think at least 6 times before the waitress actually delivered one to him, after delivering trays of water to other tables. Not exactly the best spot for eats but sit at the bar and it might be better?
Review Source:This is a great local watering hole but nothing more..
The shepards pie was abyssmal... Think of dinty moore canned beef stew with a lump of mashed potatoes on top... I could make it at home easier.
The fish and chips were very very good as were the onion rings. The beer was cold and we had a cute blond waitress...
Its a woody bar that might be unpleasant in the winter months but for a summer/spring/fall place to drink, the patio is wonderful.
Last weekend I went here for the third time over the past year. This place is terribly inconsistent.
On the first trip, the food was pretty good and the service was A-OK, especially since I was in a group of 5. I wouldn't have bothered coming back otherwise.
The second trip, with just two of us, was fine as I remember it. Nothing to write home about, but the location is quite convenient because we stay just south of the Y and can avoid state line.
This latest experience, in a word, sucked. The waiters are your typical Tahoe snow/lake rats who could basically care less that you are there, to the point that they look you straight in the eye when you walk in and can't even muster a half-assed "hello".
It took a good 10 minutes just to get a menu and that was only because the waiter was also giving them to a couple that came in 10 minutes after we did. Another 15 minutes to order food, 25 minutes to get the food (after watching the couple that ordered after us get theirs 10 minutes sooner. Awesome.)
The food was mediocre and my corned beef and cabbage looked like it had been prepared by a surly man-chimp named Cookie. It was roadkill-esqe. The tasty mashed potatoes couldn't save it.
It's an Irish pub, for the love of God - that's just wrong.
It was another 30 minutes before we saw a member of the wait staff again and could get our damn bill, which was unfortunate because we really needed a bottle of ketchup. Dry, tasteless fries - hooray!
It takes a lot for us to not leave a tip, but this place pulled it off. Run away, and quickly.
We had the hummus platter which was there take on hummus with onions and olives. A hummus purest would not like it. Then we had the clam chowder also with their own twist. It lacked in depth of flavor and thickness but a good use of vegetables. For the main course, Ruben sandwiched! Yum. Thick cut corn beef and awesome sauerkraut. But the ambiance was why I would go back. The Wednesday night acoustic guitar player was excellent. The lighting was intimately dim and the grassy yard is great for kids or dogs. I left not full but very satisfied.
Review Source:Murphys pub is just great !!! I love there burger the full monty its so delicious ..Every time my wife michelle and i stay in tahoe we come here the staff are really friendly , and give really good service. Best of all the outside patio and lawn area we were married here 3 summers ago ,they also done a really good job on our wedding .GOOD JOB GUYS...
Review Source:My son, husband, and I went there around lunch hour on a weekday. Â There were few customers when we arrived, but more came later.
We thought the food was good. There was even enough food for us to take home in a doggie bag. My husband and I had the sweet potato fries with our sandwiches, and it was made well---just enough crispiness.
The only complaint I have is the cigarette smoke that drifted into our interior dining room from those eating in the "patio".
A local tourist trap, really nothing more.
I walked in with my family looking for a bite to eat. We were lured by the hope of Irish pub food and a beer after a long day on the lake. I noticed that half the dining room was closed off for some reason, and the very few seats in the front were full.
We walked to the bar area to have a seat. Unfortunately at 5 PM on a Wednesday the bar had several extremely drunk and belligerent locals acting obnoxious and sloppy drunk at the bar. So....we chose outdoor seating.
Unfortunately, all of the obnoxious drunks that were inside, come outside and stand in the outside seating area to smoke. Â We got to "enjoy" our meal in a cloud of cigarette smoke which was continually refreshed as we attempted to eat.
Murphy's likes to attract dog owners into the outdoor seating area. I even noticed they provide doggy poo bags for people. The problem was, of course, that one of the locals brought his full grown Lab into the area off the leash where it got into at least two fights with dogs at adjacent tables while we were eating. Nothing like having a nice dog battle at the table next to you while eating.
The service was abyssmal. Four of us had to share 1 menu because our waitress didn't bring us another menu until we were ready to order. When my wife's seafood fettucini dish arrived she couldn't eat it because we were never brought any silverware.
Three of us at the table had dishes with french fries. But of course, there was no catsup on the table. When I asked for catsup three of us were brought a tiny metal cup of catsup to share. Two of us had fish and chips, but only one small cup of tartar sauce to share. I'd like to mention that the tartar sauce was glazed over on the top when it arrived- an appearance it gets when it has been prepped hours in advance and left to sit in cups.
I was thirsty though my meal since my beer was gone before the meal arrived. I wanted to ask for water, but my waitress never came back. When she finally came back and brought a pitcher of water, she poured it into the kids partially filled sprite glasses and left. I did drink out of the kids sprite/water glasses since the kids would now no longer drink them.
The food? Well the food was decent. Not great, but decent. Unfortunately the atmosphere and service were so bad that it completely overshadowed the food. The bill was big and the meal was certainly not worth the money we dropped in the restaurant.
As the night went on many of the local unwashed stoner skater crowd filtered in to hang out and wander around the restaurant. It wasn't really my crowd.
If you are in need of a quick beer to quench your thirst, this may not be a bad place to go. If you want a family meal where you can relax and enjoy good service and a great atmosphere- this is definitely NOT the place.
I really want to like this place as our family's Tahoe house is 2 minutes away. Because it is so close we end up here sometimes, and have usually found it underwhelming but satisfactory. Our most recent trip there, however, will be our last.
We were in the Murphy's section, sitting on the deck. The menu is limited- not really any healthy choices and there is no kids menu, though we were told that they could make grilled cheese for the kids. The waitress was totally clueless and unfriendly. She brought our appetizers with dinner, told us the http://restaurant.com coupon we had would not be honored, and included the tip in our bill with our party of 5. We got there at 5 so we wouldn't have to wait long for our food because we know they have slow service. There was hardly anyone when we got there, but it still took 45 minutes to get our food once we ordered. The last straw was that they brought the kids' grilled cheeses out at least 10 minutes after the rest of us got our food. The waitress's excuse was that they "cook the kids' food last." WTF??!! Â Do they enjoy screaming toddlers in their restaurant?!
This review is for the food and not a pub experience.
The food here was good, not great, and overpriced for the quality. The portions were sizable, but the food in general was really lacking in taste. My girlfriend got a grilled chicken sandwich that had cheese, avocado, cheese, tomatoes, and a few other condiments, but really had no taste to it. Unfortunately the chicken was dry and overall sandwich was just kinda blah.
My fish and chips were a much better choice, but really fried food? Not that hard to make. The calamari we got was some of the most tender I've ever had, which was a definite redeeming point in our meal.
Overall it was a really bland experience with a few small highlights such as a salad bar that actually had green lettuce and good calamari. Go here for a beer and skip the food.
Food = delicious. Â Patty melt...holy cow--huge patty, swiss, great grilled onions on rye! Â Fish and chips--fish is perfect. Â They have a great tartar sauce too! Â
Salad = good. Â I didn't like their dressings, so we stuck with the vinegar and olive oil mixture.
Prices = reasonable. Â
Service = friendly, but a bit slow.
Overall--we'll be back for the food. Â I'm not excited about their slow service, but hey, the food is good. Â They do have a full bar too! ;-)
What a nice place. On arrival we were greeted with a warm smile and found a table next to the window. Our server was promptly at our table to give us our menus and took our drink order.
My wife ordered the Bangers and mash my son and I both ordered a Build a burger. My wife said the Bangers and mash were great! A nice helping of oven roasted veggies on the side Both build a burgers were awesome. The Full Monte was a little intimidating- I didn't think I could get my mouth around it. I had to use a knife and fork as it was with my own burger. Nice selection of beers not commonly found. I would definitely come back.
This restaurant was by far the worst experience.
Horrible food (that was bad quality), the service was bad... I left with an extremely bad taste in my mouth AND they didn't take anything off our bill. $18 for some frozen fish, boxed mashed potatoes and bland canned vegetables?! Not acceptable
Completely floored. I wasn't expecting much based on the reviews but I absolutely adored every single bite of my big-ass burger.
I came here with my parents and girlfriend after a nice hike at Fallen Leaf Lake and was famished. I needed to munch on some grindage ASAP. My stomach was talking and was audible over the car radio. Luckily this place was nearby and open.
We walked in and were greeted with an empty dining room and an empty bar(beside the server/bar tender). I wanted to hightail it out of there. Empty restaurants scare me, usually something is wrong. It turns out, it just opened and we were the first patrons. e sat next to the fireplace to warm up. (it was in the 30s while hiking)
We quickly ordered a few beers. As soon as I saw Racer 5 from across the room I was elated. I sipped on that as we browsed the extensive menu. The thing was massive, usually I don't like big menus because it often means a bunch of frozen foods and the possibility of error. Not in this case.
I order the massive "Full Monty" burger. Our served looked at me a little sideways and questioned my sanity. The thing arrived and now I understand why she was a little hesitant to serve it to me. The thing stands about 18 inches high. a tower of onion rings on top of the humongous half-pound burger. It came with the normal fixings like lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles in a toasted bun. Then there was the extras.
Here is a list of the toppings:
Cheddar, Swiss and Blue Cheese
Fried Egg
Avocado
Pico De Gallo
BBQ Sauce
Sautéed Mushrooms (I opted out of this)
Onion Rings
Bacon
Jalapeños
Deep Fried Green Chile
and it was Blackened
It scared me a bit but I knew I could do it. I was starving after all. I like to think of myself as a veteran burger eater and I know how to approach something so big. Cut it in half. Duuuuhhhhh. The moment I broke that yolk, I knew this thing was going to be delicious.
I enjoyed every single bite. It just 'effing worked. Everything melded together so well that I wanted to kiss the cook. My stomach ached for hours; in a good way that is. It hurt soooooo good.
I will return for another beer and possibly another giant burger.
I came here for lunch with a group of friends. Â The regular seating area was quite empty, since it was a late lunch (around 1:30pm).
As soon as the server saw us walk in, we were told to seat ourselves. Â It took a few minutes for them to give us menus. Â I noticed the servers seem to be really busy, too. Â Apparently there was a wedding taking place in the private banquet room, and another wedding being set up in the garden patio area.
After looking at the menu, I noticed Murphy's offers a wide variety of dishes. Â I liked how they put the country flag next to the dish. Â I decided to order an Italian dish called lemon chicken with peas and penne pasta.
It took about 20 minutes for our food to come out. Â The portion size was pretty big. Â The garlic bread was ok. Â I would have liked the garlic bread to be a bit crispy, since it tasted stale. Â There was way too much peas in the dish (See the pic). Â The chicken was a bit dry, too.
Overall, I thought my dish was just ok. Â My friends seem to enjoy their dishes though.
Three things that are pretty awesome about Murphy's: the fish and chips, the mashed potatoes and the selection of beer.
The fish and chips are lightly battered, lightly fried, large pieces of fish (no greasy little fryer minnows here) and the mashed potatoes are a little chunky and they. are. CHEESY! Oh lord do I love me some cheesy mashed potatoes. Ohm nom nom.
Totally worth coming here if you love: mashed potatoes, lots of beer & fish and chips.
The rest? Is less impressive. We ordered the crab cakes for our appetizer and they were SO full of filler we ended up picking the crab out and leaving the rest. The salad bar (which comes complimentary with the fish and chips) was sad. We came in for a late lunch / early dinner around 4 PM and the salad was already wilty and sticky. Gross.
Maybe it's just because I grew up in an Irish family cooking Irish food (which is generally cheap and filling), but the menu seems grossly over priced for what they are serving.
Authentic Irish food? Generally no. A lot of their menu consists of things like "Gaelic Garlic Fries" and "Saint Patrick's Cesar Salad". Okay, Murphy's? Just because you give things Irish names does not make them Irish food. Perhaps your food would make more sense of you renamed the restaurant "Murphy's American Pub & Rockwater Restaurant"
But seriously, if you like fish and chips or mashed potatoes, stop in. Just avoid the rest of the menu.
My girlfriend and I were riding bikes at Tahoe today (8/11/2011) and saw Murphy's just when we were getting hungry, so decided to give it a try. Â What a mistake. Â Had we planned ahead and read the reviews here on Yelp, we never would have stopped there. Â The other reviewers (the negative ones) are pretty much right on target.
The place itself is a nice looking pub, with indoor and outdoor seating, lots of wood and a nice warm feel to it. Â But that's the end of the pros.
The first thing we noticed after being seated was that everything seemed to be overpriced. Â I wasn't as hungry as my girlfriend so I decided to just order a salad (the most reasonable thing on the menu, I thought), while she ordered a burger with fries. Â With the salad bar you get two choices: Â One trip, or all you can eat. Â One trip is $4.50, and all you can eat is $7.50. Â Not being too hungry, I opted for one trip. Â But when the waitress brought the salad plate over, I almost laughed. Â It was about the size of one of those little rectangular sushi plates, and that may be what it was originally intended for. Â So I did my best with it, piling it as high as possible without losing half of it on the way back to the table.
The burger that my girlfriend ordered, first of all, took forever to arrive. Â Service is s-l-o-w in this place. Â It was also overcooked, as she had ordered it medium but it was very well done.
After discovering the small size of the salad plate, we decided to just split the burger and salad between us, but then we noticed the $2 charge on the menu for splitting orders. Â By now I was starting to fume. Â We decided to do that anyway without telling them and just wait for them to try and charge us the $2. Â I was ready to let someone have it.
Well the waitress never charged us the $2, and I don't know if she just didn't notice that we had split the food or if she was tuned in to my rising blood pressure. Â I certainly wouldn't have blamed her anyway, but my suspicion is the owner of this joint is trying to squeeze every last nickel out of anyone who is unfortunate enough to wander inside.
Oh, I almost forgot. Â A coke here is $3. I don't think I've ever paid that much for a coke anywhere.
My advice: Â Stay away. Â There are lots of great restaurants at S. Lake Tahoe, many of them that offer good food and service and value for their customers. Â This place certainly isn't one of them.
It's a good thing my great grandfather isn't still alive to experience this place. Â He came here from the "old country," and he would have taken the owner of this place into a back room to teach him a lesson for giving us Irish-Americans a bad name.
There looks like another listing for this place at:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/…
14 reviews averaging 1 1/2 stars......I'm adding my review here since there looks like 45 reviews here.
Yeah, ok, I saw the 1 star postings , but we went anyway. BF had Entertainment Book 2 for 1. Well, at least after the place was so bad I got to say, "Told you so!" ha ha . He just loves those 2 for 1;s.... The food was just on the side of OK to pass, but the service was awful, wait and wait....Not many peole eating here and it was actually more expensive then what it should be for what you get. Al least we had the 2 for 1 so it total was not that high. Take a big PASS on this place. OH, forgot to add they let doggies roam around in the outdoor dining where we were sitting, and low and behold, there was a big dog shit under the table next to us! EEEWWWWW.......!!!
Stopped in here before checking into my hotel in Tahoe for a short vacation. The place was pretty empty, but it was around 1pm on a Thursday. The server was very nice and the food was good - nothing too special or out of the ordinary, but just what I was looking for. I had the BLTA with garlic fries. Definitely try the garlic fries if you're going to eat anything there! I also had a hot toddy for a drink, which was fantastic.
Not sure what it's like at night or when it's busy, but it was a nice little pit stop for lunch. I'll be back again.
I have to agree with Andy, why is this place getting such a bad rap?
I must first stress, I visited this place while vising my Irish friends in Tahoe, who live in South Lake. It was an Irish man's recommendation to come here! It's one of his favorite places. Tell me that counts for something!
I could quickly see why he loves this place. The service was excellent, the British owner was friendly and came out with jokes, and there is a heated area for music, pool playing, and another bar in addition to the restaurant with a fireplace? Woohoo! I'm all in!
We brought his little girl who's two, and she fit right into the atmosphere. They have a good selection of kids size food on a separate laminated menu. She even took off her boots and ran around our table a bunch, which the staff thought was adorable. So being kid friendly is a plus.
The food was good pub fare. I mean come on, you don't come to a pub -like place expecting 5 star posh food.
Yeah, some of it did seem like fried or reheated, as in appetizers like the calamari, but that didn't hinder the taste. Or the presentation.
I happen to like the fries, they reminded me of In-n-Out meets McDonald's. So the thin kind that go awesome with any sauce.
We also ordered chicken wings, one of our favorite types of pub grub. The waitress said "Make sure you let me know if he [my boyfriend] cries after he eats any of these". Yes the label was "Irish Thunder" for the XXX hot. They give you a choice of 4 grades of heat, and we got the top. And we were not disappointed. It was served with ranch, but the waitress promptly brought us blue cheese. It doesn't say on the menu that it also comes with carrots and celery, a must in our opinion.
Let's just say the next morning we put hot sauce on our potatoes at breakfast and it just tasted like vinegar. We had succumbed to Irish Thunder!
We were just here last weekend so the salad didn't look too hot (they do have a salad bar = glance at walk in). But really, hey, there was 6 feet of snow everywhere so we were fine with sandwiches and appetizers. It warms the soul to have fried food with your beer.
Also, I really want to note a decent beer selection. The owner stocks the good beers that an English/Irish pub should, so no complaints here.
All in all, a good genuine down to Earth pub experience. Exactly what I was expecting for a place well positioned near the hub of shopping, like within walking distance of the Y and for pub grub!
Basically, I can't wait to go visit this place in the Summer! Looking forward to my next visit!
Oh and my boyfriend is a huge perveyor of Bloody Mary's. They make a good one here, with a full bar to boot!
Oh and how did I almost totally forget!? They have a full-Monty burger that puts like 12 or so things on it, you get to the hall of fame and get your picture taken for ordering one. I'm not even sure if you have to finish it to get in the hall of fame. They love that you just ordered one! It's huge! Take that for nostalgia!
My girlfriend, her family and I stopped off here during a September weekend looking for a beer after a hike. Being diligent Yelpers, we initially warned against this place having looked at the ratings, but the place didn't turn out all that bad.
No problems with the waitresses, enough beer (about 6-7 kinds on tap) to satisfy most tastes, and a nice outdoor patio with a roof.
I had a Caesar with fried calamari. I expected the calamari to be mostly batter and the salad to be not much more than a few leaves with a big ol' glop of ranch dressing, but I was pleasantly surprised! I liked whatever dressing they used and the calamari was thick, lightly breaded, and delicious.
Looking around the table, everyone seemed to enjoy their orders - some sort of flatbread with some greens and Thousand Island on it, a competent-looking burger with a thick patty, and a tasty-looking Reuben. The people at the table next to us got that ridiculous burger with everything on it, which looked like a fun challenge - maybe a little gross, but fun nevertheless.
Everything was satisfactory. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back to the place, but I wouldn't advise against the place either. The place did have tourist-level prices, though, so that might be the bee that's in everyone's bonnet. But I would think that an extra dollar or two for a full meal isn't anything to really whine about.
I don't know what's up with all you 2 star people either! I've been here 3 times with 3 different groups of people and the food has been great. Â It is PUB food people not California cuisine. I love the Shepherds Pie. Â The Reuben sandwich is very good. They have Smithwicks on tap!
The owner, Yvonne Murphy, is from Dublin, so its got real good pub food.
Had been here before for drinks in the bar, and it was great. Yesterday we stopped in for a late lunch (Sunday, 3 pm). The outside seating area was full, so we seated ourselves inside. The waitress only worked outside, so the bartender came in from the outside bar to wait on us. They clearly need more help, or need to train their people to multi-task better than what they currently can do. Everything took a long time, from being given menus to serving drinks, to getting the check.
The food was good. I had the crab melt and my husband had the reuben.
Probably will not go back for dinner, but will go back for drinks.
I don't know what everyone's problem with this place is but I have been here twice and never been let down.
Maybe all you 2-star people need to follow my recipe for success at Murphy's
1-It's Tahoe, don't expect top-of-the-line fancy food.
2-Come hungry, everything tastes better
3-Order a burger. You can build your own (Me? Swiss and deep fried green chile, medium)
4-GET A SMITHWICKS, hungry + Irish beer = make food good
5-Get over the price, it's vacation!
Cliff's Notes: Food was mediocre, service was not acceptable. Find another place to eat.
After a fun morning of sledding, a group of my friends and I decided that a hot plate of good food would be a great idea. Nine people total walk into this seemingly empty restaurant at 2pm. There were a handful in the bar drinking and no one near the pool tables.
It was within reasonable time that we had our drinks set at our tables, but it took probably half an hour before our waitress Amy, took our order. Then we proceeded to wait an hour and twenty minutes for our food to arrive. None of us ordered anything that was special or with crazy requests. Most of us ordered the reuben sandwich (which upon arrival looked good), and I had the shepherd's pie. When we asked why it took so long when we were pretty much the only customers, she said that she had other tables. Never once did she come back to refill drinks, or check in on us while we were waiting or eating.
The Shepherd's pie was edible, but nothing spectacular. The Reuben seemed bretty decent from 7 other people's judgment. The fries were a mixed bag. Mostly cold and soggy or 'old', and everyone had different sizes and portions which seemed kind of odd. That said, we're still not sure if it tasted okay/good because we were by this time.... REALLY HUNGRY.
Perhaps due to other circumstances our waitress was easily irritable or had other things on her mind, she just really didn't give us any attention, despite being able to charge us the 18% gratuity. There were at least two other people working the tables and there was no excuse for such bad service.
The Server was nice and the food was quick. Â The beer was good as well. Â The price for all was not. Â
If you are made of money, don't mind regular food and have no where else to eat in South Lake Tahoe, oh and you are starving for anything, then stop here. Â Otherwise, save the green backs and hit a chain.
