We came up for my birthday and rented a cabin. We were walking distance from our cabin. Thursday night we went to Chad's and did not like it. Friday night, we heard music coming from down the alley and headed to Murray's. We walked in around 5 pm and it was packed. A family of four was just leaving so we got lucky with a table. Jenny was our Server and she was incredible. The guys seated next to us helped give us the history on what food to try. My husband got the Ahi Tuna which he loved and I got the bacon wrapped jalapeno cheese appetizer. I loved them so much that I came home and made them myself.
We had so much fun there that we took my brother in law and his fiance back in the next night when they came into town. The Lobster Catch game was a blast. They have karaoke music every night. I wish they had a band or something instead and change it up but we had the best time. Highly suggest this venue to everyone!

Great place, I love this bar. Read about it on yelp Thursday and tried it out. Karaoke was going with great singers and folks having fun.
Great mixture of folks all ages, service was good and food was excellent.
Had the bacon wrapped jalapeños and they were very tasty, hamburgers are hand crafted and excellent.
Drinks were very reasonable and kamikaze's were very tasty.
A really fun and relaxing place to hang out.
Will definitely return and can't wait to bring back friends and family.

I know it is kind of a funky little place....But just go inside. Karaoke is always in full swing, and the atmosphere is just about good fun!!!  It has a very diverse crowd, but everyone is friendly and ready to have a good time.
That being said, the most amazing thing about this place is the food...yes, the food.  We had seared ahi with fresh veggies and the most amazing 16 oz ribeye steak that rivaled the finest restaurant...then, you read the price!!!  $9.00 for the ahi meal and $12.95 for the steak dinner!!  Truly amazing!!!  Our servers/bartenders were Jenny and Nancy and they were nice, efficient, and very friendly.  I love the eclectic vibe and can't wait to return!!!!

I must miss what everyone sees. The ridiculously loud off key karaoke by drunks was a little too much for me. The food took forever and was average.  The staff was pleasant and the drinks didn't take too long to get. The drink was WAY too strong. I could hardly drink it.  I only had one and was lit. I guess that's why everyone was so drunk and obnoxious. The locals ran the bar.  Won't be back. They offered me a free appetizer for a good yelp review.  I guess that's why the good reviews.

    You will be amazed!

The angels that work there are just that...angels. Very positive and attentive. They will make excellent recommendations...and drinks. The food is fabulous! Again, you will be amazed! The seared ahi was to die for!

I highly recommend Murray's to anyone visiting Big Bear Village.

If you have ever been to Big Bear Lake, you would know it's hard to find a place that has great food, fast service, a clean environment and FREE pool, that's why I bring my family to Murray's. Yesterday I had the Shrimp Basket, 6 large battered shrimp on a bed of French Fries, with two sauces on the side for my shrimp, very delicious and I highly recommend it. My dad had a Hot Dog and my fiancée Lois had a protein style turkey burger, she is on a strict diet and can't have any sauces or fried foods for 2 more days : (  My dad lives in Sugarloaf, California and when we go to visit him we take him to his favorite place on the mountain, Murray's Saloon, not just for the great food and drink, but he loves to play pool, can't beat a cold drink and a game a FREE pool, thanks Murray's for a great day in Big Bear Lake.

Giant portions of well-fried/well-made bar food in a jovial, celebratory locals-pub with pool, popcorn machine & active-lotto-players.  While we fattened ourselves on super-crisp free-appetizer nachos, with 5-star seemingly-handmade salsa, a lotto-playing bar patron won $900, to the excitement of everyone.   I need to stress again the portions are Giant.   Bacon Cheeseburger is chock-full of bacon and fresh vegetable-fixin's; fish'n'chips are excellent, appearing in the form of Giant fresh-fried, seemingly-hand-battered fish-sticks, which resembled huge dog bones, in size.   Friendly staff, great people-watching, outstanding bar food.   After checking in on yelp, we didn't need to order 2 entrees along with our free appetizer.  The appetizers are enough for 4 people.  Many beers on tap, including cider, Lagunitas and others.  Love it.

Nothing specifically awesome, because it's a dive bar.  But after a day in the snow, it's a lively place with a good vibe.  Friendly waitress, a good variety on draft and tasty bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers.

Come here often with friends, it is a popular spot for the locals. The food is well spoken for, great drunk munchies. Karaoke is a sport here, always on and going until last call.

It is on of the better bars, there are the occasional fights and police invovlment, but what bar doesn't get that. There are taxi pick-ups right next to the bar, for a easy way home, if you had just a wee too much.

Over all, its a great hangout, you meet great people, and have a great time. Locals night is the night to hit this place, as the beers are cheaper, and who doesn't like good cheap beer.

What a hoot this place is! Great dive bar for snowy days in Big Bear when the visibility is too low to hit the slopes... But perfect for saddling up at a bar stool and enjoying a cold one. The food is darn good to boot!

Hold on to your hats, or iPhones, because this place will rock you.

You'll find out quickly if you go around the tiny city of big bear lake and ask around for a cool place to go for dinner and drinks, invariably, everyone gushes about Murray's.

How good could a tiny mountain town's bar food be?  Really?

I got the seared Ahi over vegetables and aside from being very reasonably priced it was truly fantastic and literally seared to perfection.  The bed of veggies was delicious, each type with different seasoning that stood out but didn't steal the show.  The fish and chips was equally as perfectly executed and we found ourselves nearly licking the plates when we were done.  A few more beers and we would have.

On top of that, the beers are good, reasonably priced and come with entertaining locals looking to have a good time.

The karaoke is what you'd expect and if you're not careful you'll find yourself on stage with 10 new friends singing Sweet Caroline.

Just make sure that you don't drink so many of the cheap drinks that you return your food to the porcelain god.

We found this place through yelp and decided to check it out. It does look a little divey at first look but believe me it was a night well spent. The food was good, and super cheap. We shared an entree, had beers and drinks and only paid $25. After we got there, they started karaoke and that was super fun to watch. The owner came around and introduced himself and was so nice. We loved how friendly people are up there. It is very refreshing.

I was told it was fun and entertaining. Entertaining it was. Watching the locals sing karaoke. I put my name in to sing, and was never called in the three hours that I was there. The place was very small and quaint, yet we had to get up from our seats to order beers from the bar because our waitress/bartender was busy playing pool.. my wife and I were in big bear for our honeymoon and felt like outsiders in this establishment. We left unsatisfied.

Not quite what I was expecting but was fun! Went here on Saturday night with my Husband for dinner and drinks. We got there around 8:30pm and it was already pretty busy; karoke had already started! Not the best atmosphere to sit and have dinner, we ended up eating at the bar. But I will say that the crab cakes were amazing, just took awhile to make! All in all, this is a fun place if you are looking for a bar type atmosphere, good prices drinks & yummy food.

It's Friday evening & the wife & I Yelped this joint after a frightful visit at Chad's.
I'm glad we hit up Murray's as it made up for the crappy 30 minutes spent at the aforementioned spot.
We walked in and this place was jumpin'!
Girl singin' karaoke in the corner & everyone singing along. It was packed & standing room only. I made my way to the bar & a couple nice patrons made space and with a smile I thanked them both. I was ecstatic to see they had Dogfish Head & Hangar 24 Witbier on tap.The bartender only took a minute to notice me &  within a minute or so I had both my drinks in hand.
I had to slow down on my high ABV content after that last IPA so i went with a my go-to Coors Light. It was much cheaper & tasted way better than that swill Chad's charged me for.
Great service, nice locals & FUN  seemed to be the theme to this bar.

You had me at Dogfish Head 90Min IPA. Looking forward to our next trip out to Big Bear...Thanks Murray's. I'll be back!

What a find! This unassuming little saloon turns out to serve some great food, have fantastic service (hi, Jenny!) and the friendliest patrons I've ever met in a bar. We walked by in the afternoon and after Yelping, decided to check it out for a cocktail before an early night. Famous last words. We went in to order a drink and a few bites, and next thing we knew, we had a table of absolutely gourmet food (seriously), big pours from the friendly staff, and we were lining up to do karaoke. We virtually shut the place down. This is on a random Wednesday night, I might add.

My sole complaint was about the karaoke DJ. We went up there to sing, because we felt bad that no one was really trying to partake. It was just her singing song after song after song, so we thought we'd amp the crowd up. It only took a few minutes of interacting with her to realize she actually *preferred* it that way. Now, I'm all for an aspiring singer and figure if she listens to people holler all night long it's the least she deserves, a few minutes in the limelight.

But when we went up to sing 1) she turned our mics down to the point that they were almost off (annoying at the time, a bit of a relief when we watched the video from our friend's phone later...) and 2) she offered unsolicited and frankly rude commentary. Funny how the mics worked for her (for the record, ye snarky yelpers, we sounded good). Think Simon Cowell, minus the charm.

As we were coming off the stage with some new friends (new Murray's friends!) for one song she was so obnoxious about our performance that we stopped in our tracks and she started to stammer and try to cover up. Lady, uh, the hospitality biz is NOT for you! Luckily the bar staff had taken such good care of us that we just laughed it off and let her have her mic and her stage back.

But other than the karaoke grinch, the rest of the night was a total win, as good if not better than everyone said! Wanted to pay it forward with a Yelp review of my own. Can't wait to go back.

Never would've found this place if not for Yelp! WOW!!!!!

Typical bar seating, plenty of it available. We watched karaoke the night we were there and it was very entertaining.

The drinks are VERY cheap and the food is so delicious and super inexpensive. On Thursdays they have a special menu that is almost so cheap it's hard to believe. We ordered a lot, thinking the portions would be small since the prices are so cheap. Wow, were we wrong. We had the bacon wrapped jalepenos, seared ahi tuna and avocado blue cheese bacon burger with onion rings. For a little bar in Big Bear, I didn't know what to expect. WOW!! I wish this restaurant was close to my house because I'd be there all the time. The owner is the chef & he does a great job.

It's a "dollar bill" bar too -- so grab your dollar bills & a sharpie -- write your name & message and stick that dollar bill on the wall!! Also, play the "claw" machine (the machine that you put the $$ into, set the metal claw free to try to win that teddy bear) .. HOWEVER, the claw machine at Murray's Saloon is actually plunging into a tank of water to dive for fresh, live lobsters. GOOD LUCK!!!

The people here are so down to earth and FUN! My friends and I had a fantastic time here! The bacon wrapped shrimp were very decadent. Our waitress Nicole was so warm and attentive. I'm sure everyone hated my singing but they at least were accepting on the outside. Also...my friends and I happened to all leave without anyone settling our tab. We felt so bad, returned at 8am and they gave my friend a fireball shot. Wish there were more places like this in LA that I knew of...

We were so happy we found this place.  The drinks were cheap and the food was amazing.  We had the bacon wrapped shrimp that were stuffed with jalapeños and bleu cheese.  We also ordered a burger and were surprised how big it was.  Overall the portions were very large.  The atmosphere was also amazing and we could tell this was the place most of the locals attended.

Don't forget to try catching the lobster...

Awesome, awesome dive bar located in the heart of Big Bear Village.  Where else on Saturday's in SoCal can you fine $1.50 domestic pints?!  The bar is grungy with dollar bills all over the wall with crazy writing on them - it pretty funny if you read them.

The first time I came in here was a few months ago with my wife looking to watch the Oklahoma State football game.  There were 20 something screens and they all had Ohio State - Nebraska.  They happily changed the main screen to my game and no one batted an eye.

The elderly lady who runs the bar is super nice and makes a pretty damn good Bloody Mary.  She uses clam juice and Old Bay which gives it a bit of a kick.  The fired pickles are perfectly golden fried and the burgers are always medium and super juicy.  They have some funny karaoke singers and always play classic rock on the speakers.

This has become a favorite for us as we'll stop in for a beer and a bite after a long day of skiing and spraying snow boarders!

I like the locals dive bar atmosphere: dollars on the wall, choose your music machine, old pool table, local blue collar workers and townies at the bar, free peanuts and popcorn.  One thing that stood out was the $2 Lobster Claw Machine where if you succeeded in grabbing a lobster they would cook it for you! Hilarious! Probably would have given it a go if the lobster looked a little more alive.

The most surprising plus is the craft beer selection. I did not expect to get a Sculpin in Big Bear. They also were offering $1 for Miller Lite and PBR, but I have a hard time enjoying such beers even at that price.  Lastly they have a free appetizer offer if you check in on Yelp, but I have to admit I could not pull out my iphone and ask for a free appetizer in such an establishment (not to mention the appetizers only cost a max of $5).

I would definitely come back after a day of boarding.

Great fun place to grab a drink and have some fun after a day or skiing or boarding.
I stayed at a cabin pretty close by and walked here in the cold 20-30 degree weather. It was cold outside but I was happy I made it here for some drink.
The bar was very crowded and they were having a karaoke night. How fun.
I checked in and got a free appetizer with my order of drinks. Beers on tap were overall priced pretty good.
Think this will be my go to bar in the bear area.

Wings & ahi... Nachos OH MY! Bar food awesome. Seemed like Big Bear Village eateries closed at 9 PM or so. We felt the worms at around 9:45 ish, & Murray's willingly fed them. Our beautiful dark haired, tattoo-ed mixologist kept our spirits high. After our liquid courage kicked in, we karoked a ditty or two. I brought my own posse, but the locals didn't seem to mind our antics. Stuck out like a sore thumb---diversity baby. Will certainly visit again when back in town to ski.

    What a dive!
Check in on yelp and get a free appetizer!
The food is exquisite- made to order- Fresh! Fresh! Fresh!
We got the Fish Tacos and the tilapia was pretty gourmet, cubed, fleshy, not too dry and certainly not undercooked- but grilled to perfection!
Beer on tap was $5 and under.
The ambiance was 40+ waitresses in heavy make-up short skirts, tight tank-tops and glittery heels being hit on by both balding and overly hairy grizzly regulars.
Really fun to step out of reality and into this world that feels so far away from California!
    Warm, cozy, loud.
Football and TMZ on the television screens, one pool table.
Come for the ambiance and the food.

Small little saloon.  Saloon is the best name for it.  Friendly atmosphere at least during the day when I went. The owner, the bartender, patrons - all very friendly make you feel right at home.  Being it's Thursday have a 1 dollar 16 ounce Miller light-make that two, please.  Ordered some hot wings which were fantastic.  I WILL be back.

Where else can you drink $7 pitchers of beer and see a guy named Jose Spears do karaoke to Britney Spears songs? Murray's is a local dive bar that I always hit up when visiting my friend's cabin. Most of the patrons are really fun and super cool (although I did see a huge fight break out once). The drinks are super cheap and decent, which can make for a pretty crazy night. Just make sure you're respectful and not a mess and you'll have a good time.

Best thing about this place was the young lady behind the bar ... could not have been nicer, friendlier or more helpful...

On the night wee were there she let me know that the Stone "arrogant Bastard Ale" was on special for $3 a bottle .... I only had one ..... at a time ....

big juke box on wall has good variety of tunes and reasonable cost, locals seemed friendly enough - spent most of the night chatting to a local couple as well as a Vietnam Vet celebrating his 60th Birthday - told me how the Aussies saved his ass in Nam ... so I bought him a shot of Jack Daniels... he reciprocated... yeah ...just what I needed more alcohol ....

A bit of a haze from there on in but apparently.... after sampling the heart and cholesterol friendly gourmet feast of Prawns stuffed with Blue Cheese, Wrapped in bacon, battered and then Deep fried .... which was whipped up by the " you know he's a Chef" in the back room ... 1 or 4 more of the AB Ales ...  I ended up joining the local celebrity Kenny rogers look alike in a rendition of Born to Be Wild at the complimentary Karaoke ...

all in all a top little place to visit - recommended

Went here with a friend last weekend as per a recommendation from where we rented Kayaks.

Walking in, it was fantastic; it was loud, super dive-y and plastered with dollar bills covered with trademarks of visitors. The staff was really attentive at the time we got there. There was a popcorn machine, pool table, jukebox, and a bar to keep yourself entertained while waiting. The jukebox was playing nonstop, and when it DID stop, the staff put in more money to keep the music flowing.

We were initially asked what we wanted right away; since we weren't ready, they said they would come back (we had to flag them down after we were waiting for a while). The waitress/bartender (I think they have double-duty) who took our order was really nice. She was really accommodating and efficient. Then the waiting game. I believe we were waiting for well close to an hour since we came in. We took up some time people-watching and eating the way-too-salty popcorn from the machine.

We ordered an appetizer of fried zucchini (huge pieces... probably 1/4 of an entire zucchini split lengthwise as each piece), my friend got the veggie burger (which she really enjoyed) and I got the burger that had i think it was feta? The portion size was GINORMOUS. Definitely good bang for your buck.  It actually surprised me that the food was really good because the atmosphere was so divey that I didn't think they would have paid enough attention to their menu, but kudos to them for that!

I definitely would recommend this to anyone visiting the area. Murray's has it's own unique character; I appreciate non-mainstream places that are able to cater to different types of people while still serving great food!

My friend and I came here for dinner, per a suggestion from one of the ladies working at Capt John's Fawn Harbor. She said that the food is "made from scrap" (I certainly hope she meant "scratch"), but we didn't expect to wait upwards of 40 minutes for our food to arrive! We think there was only one cook in that small kitchen behind the bar, but it was an unnecessary wait without forewarning. It definitely seems like a "hole in the wall," and there were only 2 bartenders/waitresses working a loud, crowded bar.

Anyway, we ordered the beer-battered zucchini ($5) to start with - It definitely would've been better/faster if they hadn't deep-fried it (why bother making a healthy thing unhealthy?). I ordered a veggie burger with pineapple and jalapenos ($6.50) - it was freaking delicious! The jalapeno was refreshingly spicy and their fries are also very crisp! Definitely a delicious and satisfying meal; I ate half my sandwich and packed the other half to go. All the burgers come with fresh veggies: tomato, lettuce, red onion; and the most expensive burger is only $8!

The atmosphere was very dive-y, with a pool table, a digital jukebox, and a self-serve popcorn machine. The crowd was pretty diverse - everyone looked upwards of 25-years-old, with a lot of "bro-y" characters (I think they just came from a mud run) and (what looked like) a lot of locals.

All in all, a great choice if you want inexpensive, delicious hole-in-the-wall food (albeit a long wait) with a lively atmosphere. I'm sure it would've been a great place to drink at if we'd stayed late enough.

I went to Big Bear on a Friday for an overnight boarding trip and found Murray's using Yelp. We were looking for a place to get a few beers and some appetizers. My friend forced us to walk around the whole Village to find a different place because from the outside, it looked a little discouraging. Murray's is off a small dark street a block away from the main street. We walked by Chad's but was completely dead so we walked back to Murray's and were pleasantly surprised.

I loved the fact that they serve Hangar 24 orange wheat beers! The bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers with bleu cheese cream cheese were awesome as well. Played free pool with the locals all night and joined in the nightly karaoke. We were there for 6+ hours just drinking and hanging out - it was a blast. Murray's will now be my go-to bar when visiting Bear.

Cool lil dive bar/pub off the strip, at the Village in Big Bear.  From what i heard the food is really good, and cheap.  They have a full bar, and bunch of beers on tap.
One pool table, and juke box..  Place itself is kinda small, but on a sunday night, it was pretty happening.

    Wandering around town on a Friday night and a couple friends wanted a drink so we stopped here on a whim. I think this place is more for Big Bear locals. Like any other saloon in westerns, as you step though the doors of Murray's it's as if the locals give you a once-over for a split second and decided if your'e OK. o_o;

Most of the patrons sat at the bar while a couple Big Bear Grizzlies, took over the pool table. The old grey beards played and chatted the entire time we were there, I had better luck getting into a game at Chad's. Not a big deal though since we were drawn to the electronic games lining one wall. I recommend trying the punching bag game at least once for the hell of it.

After purchasing a couple drinks we plopped down on the giant stools (seriously sturdy and able to support big butts) and found the star of the night, Erotic Photo Hunt! For our entire stay we put in about $2 and at only 25 cents a game it was plenty of fun time.

If you're not familiar with this game you get two very similar pictures placed side by side and you have to find the differences between the two. Sounds easy enough but you have to find five differences with a timer ticking away. If you guess wrong you lose more time, but guess correctly and quickly you can earn bonus time for the next round.

With five pairs of eyes we did quite well and earned our place in the top scores. Can't comment too much on the eroticism on the photos, the library probably could use an update. Don't get mad at your teammates when they guess wrong, we noticed that the touchscreen seems to be more accurate on the right side. Just hilarious poking a touchscreen and screaming, "There's something wrong with her tits!"  =)

Bonus: Complimentary popcorn! Great to have something to snack on while you drink.
