Journey through the wine country - this place was recommended by a friend. The food is fantastic, I had the Mahi. And of course the wine selection is phenomenal! Can't wait to go back!

Went last night.  Had to wait about 15 min for our table but hostess was nice.  Hubby had pork chop and thought it was very good but not outstanding.  I had halibut special and it was very good.  Famous lemon lime merengue didNt impress me except for sheer size of it.    Onion ring apps were good. Ahi tuna nice but wasabi sauce very hot. Tamales were just ok.  Friends had ribs and thought they were ok too

The food was SO GOOD, I loved EVERY single bite.

BUT.... the hostess was SUCH A RUDE BIOTCH!!!! They should really hire someone that isn't going to be such a bitch to guests.

Come to eat and hope that they have a new hostess. Thank god our waitress was so nice or I would have been really really pissed.

Went here with my girlfriends for my 27th Birthday...

We ordered calamari and it was 80% garnish and 20% calamari LOL

I ordered the Mongolian Porkchop...and boy was it SWEET!
It was too sweet...like a Honey mustard. Presentation was nice but it was just too sweet.

A bit pricey for a luncheon.

For dessert, my gfs surprised me with the rocky road cupcake..and it was very rich.

Seem's like they were great for presentations of their food but not very tasty.

Don't forget to make a reservation! The macaroni and cheese was amazing and so was their Bloody Mary. A little small but cozy.

Made reservations a month in advance to ensure we get in to Mustards when we're here this trip.  We love the decor and setting of the place.  The service was nice.  However, we were quite disappointed with the food.  We ordered the lobster bisque (daily special), Mixed Green salad, daily lamb special, and the halibut.  I normally love lobster bisque, but this one did not have a fresh taste.  It's hard to describe.  Perhaps too much tomato paste, just didn't have the lobster sweetness to it.  The mixed greens were fine.  The halibut was nicely charred but overcooked, served over jasmine rice and curry sauce.  The rice was mushy and curry was nicely spiced.  The lamb dish was way under seasoned, but well cooked to order.  Ironically it was served with grilled baby eggplants that were way over seasoned.  The best thing we had was the dessert, espresso ice cream over a warm chocolate torte.  We will not return.

Omg what a great place!! I rec making reservation, we went in without one and waited 30/40 min but it was SO WORTH it! The prices ranges from 10-15 for appetizers and 19-30 for entrees. Must order smoked duck!!!! It was to die for, hands down the best duck I ever had! My hubby had lamb-it was great as well! We wanted to order their Mongolian pork chop, but they were out...so I guess next time!

Mustard's was near our hotel in Napa, so we stopped in for a quick bite our first night visiting. The food was good, the service great, but the best were the martinis!!

Boom!  Food was great. Service was great.

The only thing preventing my coveted 5-star rating was the limited space and lengthy wait (despite having a reservation).

You must have a rezzie if you want to eat here.  But I'd strongly recommend!

The food here was wonderful and our waiter was wonderful.  What tainted my experience was the absolute rudest human beings I have ever encountered whom also happens to be the restaurant's hostess.

My aunt and uncle are locals and knew the food would be great so they made a reservation for 1:00 pm.  My uncle had recently been contained to a wheelchair therefore does not have a wheelchair accesible car.  It takes him and my aunt quite a bit longer to load and unload from their little VW sedan between getting the chair from the trunk and transferring.

We arrived in the parking lot at 1:07 on the dot and walked into the restaurant at 1:13.  We stood in the front lobby for at least 2 minutes and when we arrived we were told that our reservation had been given up because they only hold them for 15 minutes.  Ok great, but we explained the situation and that we had been waiting for a few minutes at the front but the hostess was incredibly snooty and said she would "do her best" to get us in. My uncle was obviously embarassed and felt like it was his fault and we tried to explain but she was completely stonefaced.  After waiting for 20 minutes outside with a hungry toddler and my uncle who had rapidly dropping blood sugar, I go back in to check the status of our table.

Me: Hi, I was just wondering if you knew a rough estimate of when we would be seated?
Bitchy Hostess: I TOLD you, we have to wait for everyone ELSE to be seated.
She then cocks her head and lifts her eyebrows at me.

I can remember it distinctly she was wearing sea foam green pants and overly pastel colored lipstick and it was all I could do not to slap her face until her head spun around.   Instead I gritted my teeth and went back outside for another 20 minutes when we were finally seated after 6 other parties went in.  I'm sure you did your  absolute best, Mustard's Grill, in accommodating someone with disabilities who went out of the way to take their out of town guests to your restaurant.  I have plenty of friends who travel to Napa at least once a year and make sure that they know the priorities of your restaurant.

It's great that all your beef is humanely raised and you're saving the earth by having everything from within 250 miles, but if you can't treat your customers with some basic dignity and have a realistic understanding then all that is a waste.  Sadly, although we enjoyed our experience after we were seated I don't know if I would ever patronize Mustard's Grill ever again.

Lunch today was wonderful.  My wife's swordfish tostada was delightful and my lamb burger was perfect.  The slightly more expensive wine than I had selected which was suggested was fantastic with the burger and quite worth the cost.  The tomato apple catsup was so good that my wife stole a goodly portion of my fries to have with it.  The vanilla pistachio cake was quite good but the plum strawberry sorbet which was served with it would make a chunk of cardboard a delight.  The menu and the wine list are both a little on the pricey side.  I would almost be tempted to take off a half star for that, but the quality is so good I just can't do it.
    We will be back.

Mustards Grill has all this hype. Why?

We knew there would be an excessive wait (almost 2 hours) because we didn't have a reservation at this "place to be". So, even though we were put off by the wait, we wholeheartedly committed to it thinking it would be worth it. It was anything but.

Bottom line: this restaurant falls disappointingly flat, and I ended up with food poisoning.

The menu is diverse and somewhat creative, but drastically overpriced. We paid about $10 for the tiniest mixed green salad I have ever been served. From there, the food just kept letting us down.

Calamari plate is about 10 small pieces of calamari heaped over with a green salad/slaw thing with a curried vinaigrette dressing that has lots of aspects, yet still lacks an actual flavor. That green heap takes up the plate and hides the fact that you got barely any calamari - which was also lacking flavor. Ribs were overcooked, barely had any meat on them, and had no identifiable flavory... however they did not lack significant char - like overwhelming char. Sorry, but when we pay $25 for a plate of ribs, we expect more. The cheddar jalapeño corn stick thing tasted like nothing and I won't even bother with what was called slaw. It was depressing. Oh, that's right... and we ordered the mac and cheese. That gives you an idea of how great that was - almost forgot it.

As soon as we left (I mean the moment we walked out of there), I started feeling sick. Thought it was just a long day in the heat, but by the time we got home, I could feel the ribs taking their toll. About an hour later I was hucking up guts (sorry, but it had to be said) for twenty minutes. Still felt sick in the morning.

I think it's great that this place is so hyped for one or two dishes. Maybe those dishes really are amazing, but we did not have those dishes and any truly worthwhile establishment will offer excellence in every dish, not just a few.

Mustards Grill is far from amazing in any way; we will never be back.

Absolutely amazing place to go after wine tasting! Need a reservation.

We started off with mushroom tamales and they were amazing. I dont typically like tamales bc they can be greasy but these were very fresh and the sauce was amazing. My boyfriend got the pork chop sandwich and I got the spinach mushroom burger. Great wine menu and unique beers as well. The service was great.

Everything tasted so fresh. Learned that they pick everything from the garden that morning and everything is made in house except the bread. Will definitely come back for lunch next time we are in the area!

Ate here for lunch after visiting Jarvis. Food was very good.  Started with the dungeness crab cake, it was perfect and mostly crab.  Dipped it in some of their homemade mustard which is delicious.  I had the fish (halibut) special, it was a perfect portion, perfectly cooked and was served with summer vegetables.  Boyfriend had the ahi burger which was also very good.  Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I reserve 5 stars for Gary Danko, Michael Minna, and Boulevard (all in San Fran)

We came here last week... my very first time. And yes Mustards Grill has lived up to all of the hype!  I'm just disappointed in myself that it's taken me so long to have a taste of this spectacular dining experience.  I had the Mushroom and Spinach "Burger," feta cheese, green papaya salad, mango vinaigrette which in my most humble opinion was incredible.  Most of my friends laugh at me when I tell them that I'm on this partial Vegan diet kick... yeah, being a "foodie" not truly confident on how long that can possibly last:)  But one thing I will never eradicate from my diet is my occasional dose of resveratrol.  I no longer have the appetite for pompous old douche-bags... purely pathetic and tasteless.  Deleting that is mandatory, but red vino... never:)

    Boom.

That's the reaction my girlfriend and I both had when we tasted our Mongolian pork chop with mustard. Damn, what a great dish. The most tender, flavorful pork chop I've ever eaten. Honestly, the rest of the meal could've been average and I still might've given Mustards five stars.

Fortunately, we had nice service in a nice location with a lively scene. What a great way to end a day of wine-tasting.

Eek! We got in! Forget all other places in Napa, MUSTARDS is the place to go!

The Three Cheese Mac N Cheese, by far the most tasty, decadent & mind blowing mac n cheese we've ever had. For $6.95 you have NO excuse not to try it!

The Famous Mongolian Pork Chops - the bbq flavors complimented the perfect seasoning for truly the best pork chop my hubby's ever had. The meat was juicy with perfect flavor. The potatoes were light & fluffy while adding a decadent flavor to the plate.

The Cheeseburger - 2nd, maybe 3rd best burger I've had. The meat was cooked & seasoned to perfection. The cheese was flavorful, but not overwhelming & the lettuce added the perfect crunch.

Oh man, as if we weren't full enough, we decided to indulge in dessert!

Chocolate Truffle Tart w/espresso ice cream & pralines - have you ever heard those people making all sorts of inappropriate sounds while eating, that was us! We couldn't help ourselves. The espresso ice cream is divine and the tart is so melt in your mouth good you'll be making all sorts of crazy sounds!

Oh man, we're still dreaming of Mustards.

We decided to try Mustard's for our Anniversary dinner.  Amazing food and a great experience. I had the chalkboard pasta and my husband had the lamb. Both were phenomenal! For dessert, we shared the berry cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Delicious!

There are some mixed reviews here about the service, but we had no complaints. This is a busy restaurant, and our server was as attentive.  And when she found out it was our anniversary, she surprised us with two complimentary flutes of champagne!

The only downside is that this restaurant is small, yet very popular. Even with a reservation, expect to wait at least 15 minutes.  It's most certainly worth the wait!

    Food:
    - Dungeness Crab Cakes: Very meaty, just how I like my crab cakes! The sauce was delicious. Came with a side of arugula salad and vinaigrette which tasted a little bitter to my liking. My fiance didn't mind it though. 2 to share.

    - Mongolian Pork Chops: It was good, but nothing great. The housemade mustard sauce was really good, I wish they used more of it, but it might have overpowered the plate. I didn't care for the sweet and sour red cabbage -- I only had a couple bites. The side of mashed potatoes was mediocre. The pork chop itself was more tender than most pork chop I've had, but still a little dry, which is why I almost never order pork chops at restaurants. But I had to try the pork chops here because of the rave reviews, but I was left a little disappointed. I expecting spectacular.

    - Grilled Hanger Steak: My fiance reported that it was cooked perfectly. Tasty and tender. I loved the red wine onion jam! I kept stealing them from his plate. lol. The fries were good but I was in love with the side of watercress dip. It was sooooo good! But my fiance stuck to ketchup, I guess he didn't love the dip as much as I did.

    Service:
    - Mediocre: Not friendly or rude, but very attentive. The waitress didn't bother introducing herself. She did come by to ask how we were doing and our water was refilled twice during our visit.

    Final Thoughts:
    - The food was pretty good, I would definitely come back but try another plate.
    - The outside looks like a burger joint, but don't be fooled, everything was overpriced. Our bill came out to $73.

The best dining experience I had all weekend! Stopped by on Sunday before leaving Napa and after 2 wineries. I had been dying to try their Mongolian pork chop since Bobby Flay told me about it on Best Thing I Ever Ate. And for the record, it was darn good. However, I can't not comment on the blue cheese dip they served with my friends sandwich. OHMYGOD. I wanted to drink it, and I hate blue cheese dressing! I almost just stole the ramekin so I could have more, but decided that was a bit much.

Friendly service, reasonably priced, and worth it for the pork chop and the blue cheese dressing!

Service was excellent, food was forgettable. We were seated next to a busy pathway, so it was a little breezy/hectic feeling as servers rushed past us throughout our meal. Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen is still my favorite of the Cindy Pawlcyn vehicles.

Another wonderful Napa Valley staple. Cindy Pawlcyn is a legend and Mustard's explains why. Great, local based, American cuisine accompanied with a great building and a wonderful staff.

This trip was for work, so we brought a bottle for the table that was not on the winelist, the server was happy to learn about the wine and recommend great dishes to pair with our bottle, which is no easy feat for many.

Lunch included a Mahi Mahi tostada - a beautiful blend of fresh flavors and perfect fish, light and filling at the same time.

After a relaxing day in the sun, my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to stop for Sunday dinner. We were a bit under dressed but sat at the bar comfortably. The service was very timely and the bartender was really hospitable and friendly.

Sweet Corn Tamales: SO GOOD! such a interesting mix of ingredients: wild mushrooms, sweet corn, avocado-cilantro sauce-really light and fresh tasting.

Salmon with a fava bean, sweet corn, and white bean ragu: cooked perfectly, so filling and flavorful.

Pork Chop: really tender, cabbage and mashed potatoes, pretty standard item but very tasty.

Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp: INCREDIBLE. get it! it's awesome.

Wine selection was pretty good, wish they had beers on draft, not just bottles.

I'm white. My girlfriend is not. She was directly discriminated against by the bartender, the manager, and the surrounding patrons. I was shocked that management did not make any effort to make things right nor make any effort to address the open display of racism with the bartender.

This event really surprised me as I've never witnessed racism in the Napa area. I'm assuming this is isolated to Mustards Grill, and for that reason we will not return.

For the price I think this is a pretty good place to stop at. We came here with a group of 7 girls, with reservations, on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Split a bunch of entrees ordered the following:

    1. Spiced rubbed quail
    2. Grilled hanger steak (how can you go wrong w/steak right?)
    3. Lamb
    4. Smoked sonoma duck
    5. Grilled ahi
    6. 3 cheese mac
    7. Cheddar-jalapeno corn stix

This was more than enough for 7 girls. We were all stuffed. I think the dishes that stood out the most was the duck, steak, quail, grilled ahi, and lamb. These are all very traditional dishes and nothing was super amazing. I think I liked dessert the best.

Ordered lemon lime tart and the warm chocolate hazelnut truffle tart. Both were amazing and highly recommend.

This is a safe lunch spot for the price and easy to get reservations.

I will say that the Dungeness crab cake (more like a fritter though) was rather tasty and meaty and perfectly cooked.

My first thought though when the pork chop was placed in front of me was "#seriously"!  Mash potatoes, red cabbage and a pork chop... so blasé!  This is something you can find at any diner in any town USA.

Besides myself own chop, there was one other persons pork which was over-cooked and not cooked evenly.

The inherent problem with having a signature dish on the menu for years, is the dish no longer interesting; it's just there.

I imagine the cooks have made it so many times a day weeks months and years, that they just are going through the motion.

At the end of the day, if the establishment is going to ask how I'd like my protein cooked, I expect it to come out cooked that way; is that too much to ask?

Another individual in my party crab ricotta ravioli dish was a mess.  The medium ravioli was swimming in a pool of oil and the morel mushrooms were cooked to a crispy doneness.  When this was brought to their attention, they admitted that the morels were not cooked properly, and they re-fired a whole side of morel mushrooms.

(Remember all... don't EVER send your plate back or ask them to re-cook your meal again (even if they insist); that's just plain negligent.)

I came here for lunch with a bachelorette/bridal shower group and we were seated promptly because we had reservations!

The interior of the restaurant is actually very cute. I like the layout and decor. It's bright, open, active, quaint, and very cozy.

Our waiter was actually pretty friendly, but he was also extremely hyperactive. He seemed to be bouncing about the restaurant from table to table on a high or something. Every time we asked him a question, he wouldn't give a straight answer, but would instead ramble on and on about one subject to the next. It was a bit strange, but who knows, maybe he really was high on life or perhaps something else. To put it simply, he was just obnoxious and overwhelming to us. Our orders took forever to place!!

I ordered the Grilled Ahi Tuna Burger (I requested rare) with arugula, basil aioli, pickled ginger on a poppy seed bun. My burger came with perfectly golden fried french fries. I was pretty unimpressed with the taste of the burger, but I enjoyed the fries. I'm definitely going to order something else the next time I come here.

Definitely get their Mongolian pork chop..the meat was tender topped with an asian mustard-like sauce. The side of garlic mash potatoes that came with it was good too.  The smoked Sonoma duck was okay..nothing to kick and scream about.  Overall, the ambience and food was good. Servers were attentive.

Word to the wise, make a reservation.  We didn't and had to wait an hour for a party of two..and this was before the dinner rush.   Cheers!

Finding Mustards Grill was a wonderful surprise...and it was right next door to our bed and breakfast!

In my early 20s, I loved Bloody Marys. Like had to have one all the time. I move to France and promptly forgot about them...and I didn't have one until I came to Mustards. Sad to say I've fallen out of love with them. They're too salty and not my thing. Our server was awesome! She saw I didn't like it and took it away...and took it off our bill. What a sweetie.

Appetizer - onion strings. They were a bit on the cold side but I loved them anyway because I was having flashbacks to my childhood when food was hard to eat because you're uncoordinated...and those onion strings were cut mega mega fine, then battered and fried - making clumps of food that fell apart when you grabbed them. It was kind of fun!

Hubby ordered tomato and prawn soup - he loved it. His only complaint is that he wished the food was warmer. His main course was the pork chop...and he LOVED it. The mashed potatoes were excellent and the mustard on the plate? Let's just say he and I were fighting to dip our food into it.

I ordered something I don't normally get -- bbq pulled pork. It was lovely, if a bit sweet. When I first saw it on my plate, I thought, "WTF? I need more meat!" then I kept eating...and about halfway through, I realized that there was just too much food on my plate...and I couldn't finish it. Plus, I was leaving room for dessert.

    Dessert was TO DIE FOR.

I ordered their special which was a lemon poppy seed cake and some ice cream...hubby ordered the lemon meringue pie. We ended up swapping.

Service was excellent and the food was great...I'd come back again, that's for sure!

Overrated! Came here with Hubs for lunch before meeting up Adam & Kiah for triathlon celebrations and were excited based on all the reviews.

    Food:
Onion Rings appetizer- yes they give you a mountain of onion rings but they're average at best; though the apple ketchup is a nice touch
Lamb Burger- ordered the Lamb special of the day and enjoyed the Manchego cheese on the burger with a side of greens- no complaints but  $17 for the burger is overpriced
Sweet Corn Tamale- pretty tasty but SO SMALL. only two bites of food literally; these things are so tiny

*didn't try the binder of wines bc we had a full day of tastings ahead of us but honestly going through that entire thing would have taken an hour on its own

    Service:
We did have a very bubbly and happy waiter eager to serve us and tell us about all the specials. No complaints here. It's a very lively roadside restaurant with upscale looking folk.

    Ambience:
Very pretty garden and water fountain outside for a nice photo op. We were seated right by the window in a large table.

I'm glad I tried it once, but I'd rather spend next time at a new place.

Mustards has been on my list of places to try in Napa and I was super happy when it showed up on the itinerary of a bachelorette party I was attending! And the best part about going with a group of people is getting to try all the different kinds of food! We shared everything family style, so it was a little untraditional, but I had a lot of fun tasting a bit of everything. The ambiance of this restaurant is great. For a Saturday brunch/lunch, it's very relaxing, casual, yet still a classy quaint feeling to it. Perhaps it was the checkered floors. And the great lighting in the dining areas.

    Appetizers:
[Sweet corn tamales] with mushrooms, tomatillo-avocado salsa, pumpkin seeds--omg delicious! I've never had such good tamales before!! This was one of my favorites for sure.
[Ahi tuna tartare]--good, but probably pretty standard.
[Dungeness Crab Cakes ]with chipotle aioli, arugula salad--yum. solid crab cakes.

    Entrees:
[Thai Rabbit] with Coconut-Lemongrass curry, spring peas, mint, basil, jasmine rice--first time eating rabbit, and it was not gamey at all! The thai flavors are pretty evidence in this one and I loved the jasmine rice soaked in curry.
[Niman Ranch BBQ ribs] with cheddar-jalapeno corn stix--I thought these were good but just okay. The jalapeno corn sticks with the HONEY BUTTER. That was a winner. I wish we had gotten more on the side.
[Smoked Sonoma Duck]--this actually was the first time I didn't actually think I was eating duck. This was cooked to a crisp and pretty good, but I was kind of startled that I didn't think it tasted really like duck!

    Desserts:
[Lemon-lime tart]--GET IT. It's not "famous" for no reason. The brown sugar meringue just goes SO well with this tart...I am determined to learn how to make a brown sugar meringue now. I'm sometimes turned off by things that are too tart, but I would definitely order this again! I'm kind of drooling just thinking about it now...
[Warm chocolate hazelnut truffle tart]--VERY decadent and chocolatey and rich, but if you share it with enough people, a few bites will satisfy your sweet tooth just fine. Topped with coffee ice cream and caramel sauce...the ice cream is a must to balance out the rich chocolate flavors, and it does the job nicely. I would probably ask for more ice cream next time if we ever got this again.

Overall, I think the food was all pretty good comfort food. Maybe not out of this world, but there were a few gems. The prices are decent, and there are even some less expensive sandwich options that looked pretty good on the menu! Great service with enjoyable company. I would come back! :)

    Nice Room & Good Food

This is a lively and comfortable restaurant that serves upscale roadside-diner fare. It's a bit pricey, but not unexpected for the area. The atmosphere is great.

Service is very good, and the attention to the table is consistent throughout the meal.

The food is hearty and good. Just that.  We tried the famous onion rings with the home made apple ketchup. They were good, as were our salads and main courses. However, overall, the kitchen is a little heavy-handed with the salt.

The wine list is obnoxiously large, and we get it - this is the Napa Valley - but plowing through it was a real pain. A case of more is less when less would have been more.

Last few times we've been in, the food has been inconsistent.  At times the ribs are tender and other times they're not; sometimes the onion ring thins are overly seasoned, other times they're not.

Tonight, my pork chop was overcooked (despite asking to have it prepared medium-rare), the mashed potatoes weren't as fluffy as in the past and the cabbage didn't seem super fresh.

My husband's hangar steak was prepared to order but he didn't care for the red wine onion jam, the french fries (they were undercooked), or the watercress dip.

And, our salads were overdressed despite my ordering mine with "extra-light" dressing and my husband asking for light dressing.

They are usually very busy and the service is fine, but tonight I had to ask for water and no one came to our table in the first 10 minutes we were there ... the salads came out very quickly and then there was a 30 minute wait for the entrees after we finished eating the salads.

Hmmm...I've heard so much about Mustard's over the years I thought I must be missing something really special and despite numerous attempts had never made it by until recently.

My impression of Mustard's is that it is quite simply an upscale diner.  Nothing amazing, but solid for sure.  It is not a destination restaurant, but if you want good food in an unpretentious atmosphere then Mustard's is your place!

Every visit here has been solid and dependable and terrific!

This time we tried the Ahi Tuna Crackers they were tasty and anybody would like them.

The lemon garlic chicken tasted as good as it looks was tasty cooked nicely. The rib was also just as good.

We never had the signature dessert before so we gave it a try. It was different I never saw meringue made with brown sugar before. I liked the lemon lime filling in it.

Mustards Grill is a must stop location in Yountville dependable and always very good!
